By far the best breakfast I have had in San Francisco. The husband and wife are very pleasant and accomodating to various requests. The bagel rivals any bagel I have had in the Finest place for bagels, New York City. I ordered the poppy bagel with egg, cheddar cheese and bacon. My daughter order the egg and bacon on poppy seed bagel. The sandwiches were both delicious. The husband delivered both to our table thanking us for our service. You know that one neighborhood coffee shop that's always clean, brightly-lit, has all your favorite weekday morning food and drinks, and is run by the kindest family ever? Yup, that's this place :). As rushed as I am when I stop by here sometimes, I can't help but slow down to make sure I return the warm smile and greeting given to me by the husband, wife, or young daughter that works here when they take my order. No matter which one of them I get, they are all equally sweet, and take care of my order very quickly. A personal favorite is the bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and avocado. I also like that in addition to their multitude of bagels and pastries, there are some hard-boiled eggs, wrapped string cheese, and sliced fruit cups on hand. Great for grabbing breakfast and coffee to go... and also great to have a seat and get some work done. Also, BONUS points for 1) being just steps away from Glen Park BART station, and 2) having the most bad-ass giant to-go CUP of coffee hanging above its outside entrance. I came here this morning as part of my quest to find the best coffee shop - or at least a really good coffee shop - in this neighborhood. I went to Philz yesterday, and was sorely disappointed. Like, I left grouchier than I when I went in, and that almost never happens after I have coffee!! After a quick Yelp/Google search, (meaning I sorted the coffee shop list by distance, and this one was the one closest to me), I decided to go to Cup. Like many other people here, I also ordered a Havana. It's a little more expensive now ($4.75 instead of the $4.00 I saw other people post), but I thought it was really good -- slightly on the sweet side, but well-balanced with the espresso and the steamed milk. I only stopped in to pick up a coffee, but the space itself seemed like a great place to work; I saw many people quietly working on the side. I am going to continue my way down my list, but this place is definitely a great option for a coffee break. read more

And for my 700th review... I'm excited to have a good cafe within a short walk from my apartment on Monterey Blvd. Railroad Expresso up the street always left something to be desired. Cup has a couple of tables outside for folks (like us) who have a dog in tow, and they have a water bowl outside for pups as well. The cappuccino and latte were really tasty to boot. I typically drink coffee, but was with a cold so I opted for a tea-- even though I can't attest to the taste of the drinks, the environment is enough for me to come back. I absolutely love this place. Cup has quickly become my Central Perk. Now, all I need are some friends. Very cool artwork from the oversized coffee cup sign outside to the art piece depicting two cups connected by the Golden Gate/Bay Bridges with the SF skyline and coffee stain clouds in the background. My goodness! The decor, the coffee, and, most importantly, the service is wonderful. This is literally a mom & pop coffee shop ran by a beautiful family and I'm not just saying that because the owner, Annie, is a young and gorgeous sweet heart. Her parents, Mrs. Yani and Mr. Sam are so charming and friendly that they make me feel like I'm part of the Cup family. I commute to SF everyday and go out of my way to come here. In all honesty, I can get my morning coffee anywhere but I'm sick of patronizing coffee shop chains where the baristas are rude and pretentious.
