Great place for breakfast. Tends to be busy in the mornings on weekends. Plenty of on-sight parking and casual ambience.

The…read moreorganizer clearly hoped to cash in on the current Mahjong trend without offering one single element of an actual tournament. No table assignments. No scoring. No prizes. No auction items. Nothing. The only thing remotely "tournament‑like" was the fee they charged. And let's be clear: this wasn't even a fundraiser for a cause. It was "bring your own tiles, sit with your friends, play in our room, and we'll serve you a fair‑to‑mediocre lunch"--a lunch that, as the owner proudly announced, didn't even include a basic cookie for dessert. Stunning. Then came the final insult. My friend's mother, who couldn't attend, had spent two weeks calling and requesting a refund. Repeatedly denied and given the run around. Only after persistent pressure did they begrudgingly offer a food‑only gift certificate--not merchandise--though maybe, possibly, someday, at some undefined later date, they might let her use it in the store. Maybe. But not today. What on earth was this event. I genuinely felt like I had stepped into an alternate universe where professionalism, integrity, and basic hospitality had been outlawed.

Only problem we had was extremely slow service with the bar service. It took 10 mins for them to figure out where to sit us even with reservation. Our first drinks took 35 mins, second drink took another 25 mins to get. They were tasty when they did finally arrive. Everyone was super nice though. I do feel they should have comped drinks after that very long delay on both rounds. We ordered fried green tomatoes and they were not my favorite, too much corn meal and they were dry and hard to eat. My shrimp and grits were delicious and my husband fried chicken and Mac and cheese were great too. We ordered the ice cream for dessert it was good but nothing special and I would opt to try one of the full desserts next time. Overall such an adorable place and most of the food was really good. They just needed help with the bar service and maybe some more experienced wait staff they all were pretty young and green, but again very sweet.

She said it was one of the best breakfast places she ever found so I was all about giving it a go myself. I had the huevos rancheros with cup of coffee. For a side I got fried potatoes. Nice place in downtown Sylva. Street parking right in front and available sat immediately upon arrival. Didn't have to wait long for food to come either. They also offer pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is a great option if you're dining with your furry friend. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was fantastic! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly. The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Grit Bowl Special, Chicken & Waffles, Brioche French Toast, and fresh fruit. The chicken tasted just like my grandma's recipe. It was crispy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their spicy hot honey. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The coffee bar was another highlight! They offer so many specialty drink options, including hot chocolate topped with homemade whipped cream. And don't skip the fresh-squeezed orange juice, it was some of the best we've ever had! What really made this place stand out for our family was how kid-friendly it is. The kids got to draw pictures while we ate, and afterward they were able to hang their artwork in the hallway for everyone to see. They absolutely loved it! There's also a large lounge area in the back with cozy seating and games like Shut the Box and chess, making it a great place to relax while waiting for a table or after your meal. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast, outstanding service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Lucy in the Rye is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be back, and I highly recommend it!

The cinnamon roll was tasty - not too sweet, not too dry, not too moist - but it would have been better if it had been served warm for eat in diners. We ordered a variety of breakfast dishes, including corn beef hash (too salty even for me), calf liver (overcooked and dry), egg plate, and quiche. The egg part of the quiche was good but the crust basically uncooked. Each dish came with a biscuit, which had a great tang but interesting texture more like cornbread or coarse cake than flaky biscuit. The most annoying thing is that our food took 30-45 minutes to come out even though were were the only ones there? With no communication of the wait. They didn't even bring out the premade cinnamon roll as an appetizer until I asked. We were so hangry and were met with disappointing taste to boot. Logistics: - indoor seating only - strip mall parking in front but it was pretty full at peak weekend brunch time due to the other cafe next door

The Clayton Café in Clayton GA is an unexpected jewel in North Georgia…read more Located on Main Street, the Café has been completely renovated in the last year, the decor is lovely. The wait staff is excellent. They are open seven days a week for breakfast and for lunch until 3:30p. My bride had the western omelet and pronounced it excellent (a pretty rare rating from her). I'm a big fan of chicken livers and these are good - and more than one person can eat in a single sitting. The onion rings are "real" onion rings and the batter delicious. The place holds about 20-30 patrons so get there early. Net: Food very good, service excellent, ambiance very good, prices reasonable. Here's a link to their website: https://claytoncafe.com/

I noticed the window sign said "Angie's Clayton Cafe" and whilst being seated at 11:45AM on Tuesday June 2, 2026, noted the wall art had changed, no more local memorabilia, and the menu is now a well worn, two sheet pieces of copy paper. No problem, the place was nearing capacity per usual and we did get a window seated table. But, then I noticed, no collard greens on the menu. So, if you read my earlier reviews, you will note that I have eaten at quite a few "meat and three" style country diners and that I also know how to cook this food at home. That's a big qualifier, because Clayton Cafe had become a part of our destination trip to Clayton from Greenville, SC. It was just that good, a notch above the crowd. I didn't find this experience to be the same. The decor, service, ambiance was the same. Even the same crowd starting a 15 minute table wait shortly after noon. Business has not suffered, but the food is not the same. Overall, everything was less flavorful, more bland. The highlight, the white sawmill gravy was piping hot and flowed well, not a gloopy mess and I like that it was served on the side. The country fried steak was tender, but it had less crunch on the crust and was significantly bland - pepper and salt please. The green beans had a small chunk of meat involved, but they too were very bland and lacked a depth of flavor expected from the hamhock, the biscuit was good, but not the buttery crusty biscuit if yore. The okra was straight up flour breading with no cornmeal in the mixture and that's a game changer on this dish. Fried chicken was good. Squash, or squash casserole was a bland mess and left uneaten. Don't get me wrong. This three star rating means "OK". It's still a good meat and three. It's just not an exceptional meat and three as experiences my multiple prior visits. So that's when I asked the server if the restaurant had changed owners and yes, in April 2026. Well, there ya go, but Bon Chance to the new owners and Godspeed towards the hard work and keeping it going. Obviously, a full house lunch crowd on a Tuesday in June shows positive momentum. I'm just saying, pay attention to flavor, both in depth and complexity, to make these Southern standards stand out from the meat and three crowd.
