K-BBQ Beef Bowl (no cabbage or noodles because they "ran out" so they put lettuce instead. Not worth the $13.65!
    Lisa W.

Just moved to AZ from CA and was super excited to see Cupbop in the neighborhood. I love Korean food and have seen ads for Cupbop so my expectations were high. Unfortunately I don't know what was going on with this store on this morning but my K-BBQ Beef bowl was lacking by a lot. For $13.65, I received a bowl of over cooked beef and lettuce. My order was To-Go so I didn't see what was placed in the bowl until I returned home. The menu advertised each bowl came with cabbage and noodles. My bowl had none of those things. Very disappointed in my first experience with Cupbop. I hope management can figure out what happened and make changes because this location could be in big trouble if they continue this way.

I came on a Friday night at 9pm. They had run out of a lot of items so I had to wait about 15 min before I could order. I had just worked. 15-hour shirt and was too tired to go anywhere else. It was also my first time and wanted the adventure of trying my something new to reenergize me. I got the combo bop - my two proteins were Krunch bop and rock bop. Both were great chicken!! I wish it was a bit hotter than I received it but otherwise it was good.

RUDE service. Not even acknowledged when walking in. Sat at the glass for 5 minutes and the guy just continued to look down at his orders, never looked up at us. We won't be back. I was craving this and I'm beyond disappointed.

    Piggy Bop and B Bop
    Teresa H.

We ordered a piggy bop and a B bop. It was pretty good, but not great. The Piggy Bop was heavily sauced (too much) I felt like it needed more cabbage. Rice was overcooked. Big portions though. Service was fine. We ate there but it seemed to more of a take out place. Not sure if I would try again.

The hotpot was a bit bland and I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce to taste anything as I went with the Szechuan broth. The fishball with roe had a really off putting taste to it either it was old or a different brand used because they are typically quite good. This is the first time where I was unable to eat it due to the flavor and texture. Traditionally hotpot is served with a side of dipping sauce to accommodate with the proteins/veggies. Since there wasn't any, the only option was soy sauce lol... Overall quite bland and pricey for what you get compared to other places. The Thai fried rice was interesting. I wasn't sure what was "Thai" about it because it tasted like a typical fried rice. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It had good flavor compared to the bland hotpot. At the time of my visit it was pretty empty and no one checked on us the entirety of the meal and I had to stand up to try and find a server to check out. Maybe the entryway blocks the view of the servers? Idk. The silverware was also dirty. Asked for a new spoon and there was a small food but stuck on it alongside my plate having some oil on it. I dont see myself coming back here but I do wish them the best. Theres not a lot of asian businesses in East Mesa, especially ones that offer hotpot.

The two of us ordered two mini hot pots but fair warning, I think one mini hot pot is enough for two people, especially if you order some sides. We ordered siu mai (frozen) and their house-made spicy wontons. For the hot pot, we got one with a sha cha based and the other with the house spice blend. I really liked the House Spice Blend. Not a bad hot pot spot but I'm not sure I would be back given that there are other great places nearby that makes a good hot pot. Service here was attentive but sparse. It's a good enough of food and my husband and I ended up sharing it. We also liked the spicy cucumber salad. The spicy pork and shrimp dumplings were disappointing. I know I can't compare it to din tai fung but these were hard and undercooked. The pork and chive dumplings were pretty tasty. We got to try a pan fried bao and it was decent but not worth getting IMO. Our friend got the kimchi fried rice and said it was good. Portion is generous. It's hit or miss.

We were seated and the hostess cheerfully informed us, "Just as a warning, the air conditioning is dripping on that part of the bench, so you'll probably want to scoot over." She disappeared before we could process the fact that "sit next to the indoor rainstorm" was apparently a normal seating option. My wife had to chase her down to ask the obvious question. "Could we maybe sit at a table that isn't leaking?" While she was gone, our server came over. I pointed to the puddle beside me and asked if we could move to the empty table in front of us. She looked puzzled and said, "No, that's where it's leaking." I pointed back to the puddle literally touching our table. We were apparently trapped in competing realities. Eventually the manager came over, and asking to move to a dry table was treated like a wildly unreasonable request. After a long pause she said, "I guess we could move you over there. Would that be okay?" My response was, "If it's dry, we'll take it." Unfortunately, the service never recovered. The nightly special was introduced with, "We have trout." That was the entire presentation. No description. No price. Just... trout. When it was time to order, we were greeted with a very enthusiastic, "What do you want?" The finale came when we asked for a box. The same manager returned with a tiny container and said, "I don't know if it'll fit. Do you think it will? I'm not good with Tupperware." I honestly thought Ashton Kutcher was about to jump out from behind a ficus. To top it all off, the portions were surprisingly small for the price, and charging $7 for bread felt like the final plot twist. I've had disappointing meals before. I've had mediocre service before. I've just never had an entire evening feel like everyone had been handed different copies of the script. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be back.
