We came into here having never been here even though we hit Placerville a lot. I ordered a simple mocha and it was fantastic! Also ordered one of the breakfast pockets and it was very good too. It's not a meal, more of a snack but the perfect side to ward off hunger and still be able to do lunch in a few hours. It was the rocks at the counter that got me though. Such a great simple way to spread love in a dark world. Next to the cash register is a bowl of small river rocks with "love" painted on them and a note that someone shared a picture of here on Yelp!. Yesterday I went into this cute little shop on the main drag in Placerville on my way to Tahoe. It's such a gem and they make a mean americano. The reason I'm writing this review though is because I was taken aback by the behavior of the young woman working the counter and training another employee. She interacted with guests and myself in a very polite and upbeat manner, but scolded the poor trainee every chance she got. The trainee was clearly fearful of her and scared to mess up. She continued to roll her eyes at her and yell at her from the pantry when she "messed up." I imagine their turn over rate is high with such a hostile employee working there. I was not the only customer that noticed and even made a point of letting the trainee know that she was doing a great job. I can't imagine the poor girl will be working there for long! read more

I love this little gem!! I stumbled upon Cuppa Coffee while strolling downtown Placerville. It's a small little coffee shop that has won my heart. I ordered an iced coffee.. which comes with coffee ice cubes!! What?? My mind was blown. If you've had iced coffee before you know that when the ice starts to melt, your coffee gets watered down. Well these rockstar coffee geniuses came up with freezing coffee into cubes. I absolutely love it! This place is my go to when I'm in town. The employees are also super friendly. My husband and I ended up here because we were swinging by Red Hawk Casino and wanted to look for for a nice place to have some coffee together. We looked for coffee places in the vicinity, and thank GPS, it led us here. It's a tiny place that's easy to pass up, but we parked a little bit of a way down the street and took a nice stroll. It's a very simple, homey cafe, with a raised seating area towards the back with bigger tables. I had some of my nursing textbooks with me, and it was comfortable enough to sit there with my chai and study. The drinks were so well made, I almost can't imagine myself ever going to a Starbucks again. If you're having your drinks there, you get the mug and a saucer, the whole shebang. I also had a slice of ham and cheese quiche. It was a little pricey, $4.50 for a slice, but it was good quality, and the hot and mild sauces they provide when you order it are delicious, so I won't hold it against them. I'm in love with the fact that they make things themselves, and actually take the time to make quality drinks. It's a bit out of the way so I can't make it a daily haunt, but anytime I'm in the area I will most definitely be back. read more

The worker checked in with me several times while I was waiting for my friend and trying to make a decision on a drink. My Americano came out very fast. I've only had the loose leaf tea here but it was seriously tasty. If you're looking for a good tea in Placerville, I would highly recommend going here. What a wonderful and unexpected experience. We dropped by on a whim on the way back to Sacramento. It was after 5pm, their closing time, but the doors were open, so we peeked in and asked if they were open? They weren't but she asked what we wanted and let us in anyways. We only got 4 ice lattes, but they had a good spread of baked goods from local shops. We will happily drop in again.
