I drove from Chesapeake to check this location out because I love Smithfield and I also love the Cure in Norfolk. My cappuccino and cookie were both quite good but the service was abysmal. I walked up to the counter (no one in line ahead of me) and it was several minutes before my presence was acknowledged. It took the barista who was making coffee to prompt the other employee (a young man) to help me. He obviously didn't want to be there and the entire time I was standing there he was playing on his phone and leaning on the counter. Finally he took my order but he seemed incompetent with the register/tablet system. Once that tedious transaction was completed I waited (again) for several minutes for my coffee, which was good (and pretty). Bottom line...I won't be driving back here just for coffee anytime soon. read more

The worst customer service my husband and I have ever experienced! We ordered on door dash and when we got our order it wasnt to our liking, so my husband called the "establishment" the person who answered the phone said "The order was placed 45 minutes ago, there's nothing I could do about it" My husband was very upset and the food we ordered was NOT CHEAP $65! and crap service! We love to support local businesses but this is one we WILL NEVER go to again! read more

Excellent, and fast, service. The Black Currant iced tea was wonderful, and the rosemary turkey club was phenomenal. The bread was to die for. Raven, a barista there, was an absolute treat. I really appreciated the woman behind the register today--she was running the show! Making coffee, taking orders, answering phone calls, all common job duties as a barista, but what made this particular Cure Coffeehouse stand out was her cheery attitude! YEAH! I started off LOVING Cure. The vibe is great, customer service is decent, and then coffee is good WHEN it's made correctly. It's a little overpriced but that's pretty typical. Recently though if I have gone in at even the slightest of busy times, I've waited at least 25 mins. For a drink. And because they are so overwhelmed they end up messing up the order. I normally am pretty understanding about an establishment getting busy and things taking a little longer than normal but the past two times I've been there have left a bad taste. More than likely won't be coming back. Which makes me sad :( read more

it's not as good as it used to be... they changed everything, the bagels are small and gross, they are usually out of everything for sandwiches, and the coffee isn't the same... not sure what happened. Use to love this place. read more

The coffee, specialty drinks, and atmosphere deserve beyond five stars. The coffee is perfectly made, not bitter and not too sweet. The chai latte. This is a winner and exceptional to all coffee shops I've been to. They craft it perfectly! The price is a little steep but just about average to other coffee bars. The atmosphere is great, plenty of sitting space indoor and outdoor. WiFi for any computer need. I'd give the staff a 3/4 star just because they're not always the nicest. Sometimes it feels like I'm inconveniencing them by ordering, but again with the coffee being as great as it is I always come back. Also a great hidden spot by Freemason!! I absolutely love this place. It has become my new 'go to' for coffee. Smithfield really needed a real, good place dedicated to coffee. We have cafes and bakeries but this was missing. The coffee is so amazing, I would go as far as to say it compares to Italy. And the people are so friendly. They try to remember everyone's name that comes in. The food is great, there's a surprising amount of snacks that are also for people with more restrictive diets, and the designs made in foam with the coffee are beautiful. read more

Thought I would support a local business but I will never step foot in this establishment again. Came in on 5/21 and the girl who was working the counter was RUDE! She messed up my order, and when I asked nicely for it to be corrected she gave me an attitude and said I asked for Splenda. I actually asked for sugar free as sugar of any kind can send me straight to the hospital. This wasn't me being rude, this was me asking for an order that was messed up that could've caused a hige medical emergency. I took one sip and knew instantly it had sugar. I asked for it to be fixed and all I got was a straight attitude. For a small town business having someone work for you who has a nasty attitude is definitely bad for business. Not only was she rude but she wasn't even friendly when we walked in. She looked disgruntled to begin with. Ignored us for the first few minutes that we stood there. That should've been a sign for us to leave. Word of mouth is a business killer, maybe be nicer to yout customers next time. I even tipped her, guess I tipped her for horrible customer service. read more

Great place! It's very neat and clean. Very nice staff. The coffee was pretty good. They have a small brunch menu and a regular menu. The lox and bagel is delicious and fresh. I also enjoyed the avocado toast and it seems to be the most popular food item. read more

SUPER excited to have another great addition to the wonderful town of Smithfield! I stopped in opening day to grab a latte while wandering around the Autumn Vintage Market and glad I did. There was quite a wait! It was opening day and during a very popular town event, though. The woman behind the counter was kind enough to offer some insight on the drink menu and their methods pertaining to certain drinks. Coffee was great, but a little expensive. It's a neat, cozy cafe in a cool building. I can see myself enjoying doing work there for a few hours. The reason that Cure is only receiving four stars is because of the staff. They are a little awkward. I've been to Cure at least ten times. No less five times did my interaction with the staff leave something to be desired. One of them put my coffee down without calling my attention to it. When I saw that she was relaxing, I asked if my coffee was ready. She was like, "Oh, yeah." and pointed to the counter. Just...awkward. If they could get some baristas with people skills, it'd make the environment much more enjoyable! read more

i have gotten coffee from cure on several occasions and never had a bad experience until today. when i walked in the door i was the only one in line (they were not busy) and the young man that worked there appeared to be making a coffee so i waited patiently at the counter to be waited on. he never acknowledged my presence, he didn't even speak. my friend visited the restroom and came back all before i was even helped. a young girl finally came and took my order and was very sweet but when the man handed me my coffee all he said was my order, he acted as if he didn't want to be there. i'm not going to hold it against the shop as a whole, just sad that a place i usually love put a bad taste in my mouth. read more
