New favorite restaurant in Astoria! Really friendly and knowledgeable people. Very vegan friendly. They don't use fish sauce in any of their sauces and informed us anything can pretty much be made vegan or vegetarian. The yellow curry was delicious and you can customize the spice level! read more

My son and I ate here the other day. My meal was excellent and had the right spicy level that I like. I used to eat in this space when it was the Rio Cafe Mexican food. I ate there often for nearly 20 years. I'm sorry they closed. I also shopped at the meat market the recently moved out. So with a history of past businesses being quite good, I have hopes for this one. So far so good. read more

Absolutely delicious. My wife got the basil salmon, which was not only tasty, but beautifully presented. My daughter'a pineapple fried rice was perfect and I got the Pad Thai Country, which was Pad Thai with slices of lemon grass chicken and a fantastic peanut sauce. The decor is eclectic, with vintage Cuban decorations, album covers from the 60s (Joe Cocker, Roy Clark, Lawrence Welk, etc) and some country Knick knacks. It's a comfortable, open design with awesome, reasonably priced food. Definitely worth visiting . I know we will be back! read more

After being on a road trip for 10 days, all I wanted to eat was some curry and rice so we ordered take out from here. Yellow curry with chicken, Jasmin rice and steamed veggies. Everything tasted great and had good portion except, the curry didn't have enough chicken in it. But I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

Not sure where the people making all the recent reviews ate but I don't think it's where I ate. There was ONE guy doing all the work (serving, cooking, dishes and answering the phone.). Food tastes ok. Very small place. Front door left open so flies could just come in. 3 stars because the one guy was trying hard to keep up. Also after eating the phad thai I was up most of the night getting rid of the meal out the other end. read more

This place was incredible... the service & the food were both over the top. We were in town for the weekend and had to eat here twice because it was so good--everything was scrumptious! Such a charming little restaurant too & I don't think we've ever had better service... my 1 year old son would agree! He couldn't sit still & kept getting fussy (thought we'd have to take our food to-go) but the lovely server found some clever ways to entertain him. Small in this case is good. Comfortable and friendly the chef prepares each dish from family recipes provided by the chef's family. I know, you can find a Thai restaurant anywhere, probably blocks from your home in, say, Portland, but Curry&Coco deserves your attention. There is also some beautiful paintings of Havana, Cuba and other Cuban mementos. Ask the chef about them and go on to eat the wonderfully prepared food. Didn't take photos. They always turn us away for no reason. Their hours say 5pm-9pm on Fridays and we walked in at 8pm excited to finally try this place. She turned us away saying they were closed. Before that we tried to get a table and she said the wait would be 20 minutes and that they don't have a waitlist. We came back 10 minutes early see new people in there and she said we had to wait outside if we wanted to be seated but 10 minutes ago she told us we could get a table in 20 minutes. I highly recommend to not waste your time here. There is better and kinder Thai places to go to! read more

Stayed in nearby Seaside, Oregon for a 3 day 4th of July vacation. We wanted to give the new Thai place a shot. Google and Yelp had all 5 star reviews so far. Thai food is one of our favorite cuisines. Every city we go to, it's one of the first choices that we look for. Ranging from some of the best like Pok Pok in Portland and Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas to some of the worst like any Thai restaurant set up in your neighborhood mall food court. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted with live music played in the corner. It was a nice touch but we preferred to sit away from the noise, so we sat in the back corner near the bathroom. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and chicken red curry. Fried rice came out greasier than most fried rice dishes that we've had. They used frozen peas and carrots with onions and the flavor was okay. Definitely would not order again. The red curry came out with lots of sliced purple eggplant and bamboo shoots. Red curry normally is my favorite dish, but there is something to be said about overwhelming the broth with too many vegetables, in this case eggplant. The flavor was just ordinary. Nothing that blew me away. It wasnt sweet like I would taste with coconut milk in most curries. Overall, we were disappointed with the food. But the real reason why I choose to post this review is because of the service provided by our waitress was 0 stars out of 5. First off, she never smiled or gave us her name. Second, when the food was ready, she slammed it down on the table and walked away. We ordered a curry based soup but were given only forks to use. Try eating a soup with a fork. When my wife asked for the spice rack, she didnt even acknowledge her request and returned with the spice rack without a word spoken. When it came time to pay, we left the cash on the table as we were getting ready to leave, my wife told her to keep the change, we left $45 on a $40 bill. She didnt even say thank you. We know that 15% is recommended but this lady didnt even deserve 1.5%. I honestly wished that we gave the $5 to the guy who was playing the guitar because he was the coolest thing that this place has going and we dont even care about the music. The waitress needs to find a different gig because serving guests is not her strong suit. The restaurant had openings available and their criteria said that you had to be nice and friendly. I sure hope that they find that person because she sure wasnt our server last night. So disappointed. Avoid this place unless you dont care about guest hospitality and crave average Thai food. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

Heard good things about this restaurant. Eager to give them a try. Placed our order and waited 45 minutes. Had to educate the waitress about what a mojito was. Received drinks. Okay. Nothing to call home about. After waiting 45 minutes for food and watching 2 parties who arrived after us get served their food, we finished drinks, left some $ (guessed at price) and left. Cook was cleaning?????, not cooking????? Disappointed. Not sure if I will give them a try again. Walked a block down the road to South Bay Wild Fish House. Ordered. Served appetizer w/i 5 minutes. Poke. Excellent! Great, attentive service there. Walk the extra block. You will love it. You won't be disappointed there. read more
