I enjoyed my sashimi platter and chose to upgrade the California roll included in it to a Columbia roll (where they top it with salmon) and this made a huge difference and I had leftovers I was excited to take with me, as a result. One thing I would change is not to have any raw onion on the sashimi. I had to pick it off and it added absolutely nothing, almost taking away from the sashimi slices. We were staying in Seaside and it was my bf's bday and he wanted sushi so he chose Tora Sushi. Jordana was our server & she was great! She took our orders with a smile, got our orders correct and was attentive. We ordered the shishito app, sushi sashimi platter & some spicy tuna. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was a little pricey - but that's to be expected in a touristy beach town. The restaurant was clean, colorful & decorated really cute. Jordana let us choose a window seat in the bar - after being seated in the main restaurant - because we wanted windows seats. We will be definitely be back on our next stay. read more

Check out their happy hour online! It's great! This is a must try when visiting Seaside. They also have some fun drinks, in addition to sake, beer, and wine. It's family-friendly and you can even get happy hour in the restaurant! It's an easy walk from most hotels and Airbnbs in the area and you can make reservations, which is wonderful. The only sushi restaurant we could find in Seaside, we thought we'd give it a shot. It's located at the east end of Broadway. The good: nice staff, clean restaurant, and large menu. Oh, they do have a small senior menu for those over 60. The bad: nothing major, really. The menus are really hard to read, so have your phone flashlight ready. The sake menu is only ok. My GF liked the plum sake. They have a full bar. The food: the sushi rolls, according to my family, were good. The two teenagers finished three rolls without taking a breath. The nightly special sashimi dinner was plentiful and tasty. The tonkatsu was very dry and the teriyaki chicken too sweet. The miso soup was above average. Despite being located on the coast and having excellent Google reviews, this was arguably the worst sushi I have ever had. As a big sashimi and nigiri fan, I ordered one of their lunch sushi platters. I could not even finish the tuna. The quality was not fresh and the tuna itself was sliced incorrectly. The piece was large but incredibly chewy and ultimately inedible for me. It's a bummer because the service and ambiance were very nice. This review is for the Tillamook location, but I believe the menu is the same for all of their restaurants! We first came across Tora Sushi Tillamook when driving through Tillamook and noticed the "Vegetarian Menu" sign in their window. So, naturally, we slammed on the brakes (came to a slow, gradual and safe stop) and came to an immediate stop mid-street (calmly pulled over to park one block ahead) because ... we take our veg food seriously ( truth! ). The restaurant had a lovely, polished ambiance and the food was reflective of the same. While not a vegetarian restaurant, I appreciate the inclusion via their window sign which, ultimately was quite effective as it encouraged us to stop by! They have a lot of veg options to choose from (we verified that our choices were vegan as well). The food was very fresh, very clean, and definitely temporarily satiated my umami cravings, temporarily is the best I can hope for because those cravings are never far away . If you're driving through Tillamook I definitely recommend checking them out, or at either of their Tora Sushi Seaside or Tora Sushi Astoria locations! read more

Just not good sushi. I'm a local, there's no other good sushi in town so every so often I roll the dice to get my sushi fix here. Then I get home and realize what a mistake I've made. It's just not good and it's definitely overpriced. and then on the way out I saw a sign that said they do not allow "ICE officers." This was the final straw. My wife and I stopped into Toro for lunch on our way back home to WA. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Indoors is spacious and can easily accommodate large parties, including a private dining room. Seating can also be found at the sushi bar. Tora offers a full bar. Lunch menu is offered daily from 11am-2pm. Dinner menu is offered daily from 4pm-9pm. Happy Hour is offered daily from 4pm-6pm. While looking over the menu, my wife sipped on a Long Island Ice Tea for $10.95 while I had a Fort George Vortex IPA for $7.25. We shared the Fire Fire Roll for $13.95: spicy tuna, avocado, tempura shrimp, jalapenos and spicy sweet dressing. We also shared the Red Dragon Roll for $13.95: spicy tuna topped with tuna and avocado. The rolls were decent price but on the bland side. The rolls didn't seem to be rolled tightly so they were messy and difficult to eat. During our visit, Tora was not busy; however, service was slow and frazzled. Overall, not the best sushi I've had. I decided to give Tora a five star! With thousands of people in seaside this weekend for sand volleyball tournament they decided to stay open later than their normal hours. What was great is their service and quality of food was still exceptional after an extra two hours of work for everyone. Many options await, lots of apps, great roles, dinner plates, salads and more. I've been twice this year and both times were absolutely lovely. The service is beyond friendly! The atmosphere is adorable and incredibly relaxed. The beef was the best part, which is a shame considering this is a sushi establishment. The service was top notch. Location excellent. Cleanliness, fantastic. Just the quality and taste of the main sushi dishes is what lacked. One thing that rang the same with rolls is the extreme overuse of the sauce which just overpowers the sushi with overwhelming sweetness. Love this place... when they're open. They seem incapable of identifying on a regular basis when they are open. Today, we got to Seaside only to find they were closed. Called the Astoria location. Astoria was open, but 'Seaside is not open on Mondays.' Wonderful. Except that Seaside's Tora Sushi Facebook page indicates otherwise (see attached photo). Anyone who reads my reviews on a regular basis may notice a trend - mediocre or negative reviews for businesses that can't seem to figure out how to convey (or honor) their business hours. It's this simple: If you are supposed to be open and I come to your business to GIVE YOU MY MONEY, you should be open and prepared to take my money. A lot of these businesses are relying on Facebook as their online presence because it's 'so easy' to update, add photos, etc. But if you don't update Facebook, you'd be better off without a Facebook page. Honestly, if I'm wandering aimlessly on the streets of Seaside and come across your business and you aren't open, it's no big deal. But if you ADVERTISE that you're open - as if you WANT my business - and then when I get there after an hour's drive, you aren't open, you have created bad will that is hard to overcome. Again, if you can't be bothered to update your business hours on Facebook, you should really either take down the Facebook page, or at the very least, remove your business hours. Just let it be a mystery (like it pretty much is, but then people won't be upset when you aren't open when you say you'd be open). Again, we really love Tora Sushi in Seaside. When they're open. The worst sushi experience of my life. Stopped by Tora Sushi Lounge for a drink and to peruse the menu with a view toward having dinner later. There was no one at the front desk, so we walked to the bar and as we tried to take a seat, we were told we needed to be seated by the hostess. Again, since there was no one at the front desk to seat us, we left and found another local bar. Not too upset... staffing shortages are a real thing. Later the same evening, since we were craving sushi, we ordered by phone and picked up our order. As you can see by the photos, the rolls were seemingly prepared by a toddler. The teriyaki chicken was over cooked and the miso soup was unrecognizable. Good thing I packed granola bars. Service was meh... food was less than acceptable. The miso soup was so salty and not even warm. The salad was wierd with corn and warm dressing. The seared "tuna" was horrible. They seared each pre sliced slice. I didn't even take a picture it was embarrassing I ate 2 or 3 pieces. My husband got the sashimi plater. The fish looked old and was tough. He didn't finish his food either. We don't like sushi with sauces and that are fried. It seems that those who do like this place had the sauce and fried rolls. This rating has nothing to do with the service. Worst birthday dinner EVER. Really wanted salmon. Saw beautiful rolls being pushed onto the sushi bar and had my mouth watering. I received my roll and it looked like a 4 year old tried to make it. Not only was the presentation disappointing, but the salmon was not...salmon. It was a bright red color, not normal. When I asked about it, I was told it was a "smoked salmon". I refused it because it looked so wrong...and beat up! The spicy salmon hand roll I ordered was hard to eat. The ingredients were not fresh. They make you pay up front and after my friend and I had already split the bill, the server came up and tried to charge my friends card again, saying we both hadn't paid. It was infuriating because we both had receipts and had to actually go there with them. Please, please, if you're looking for authentic, tasty Japanese food, go somewhere else.
