I stopped at the Curry Corner for lunch and I was first seated in one of the chairs in the front of the restaurant, then they asked me to sit in another area on the side of the restaurant. I was not pleased and when I asked why I had to move, this individual stated "I don't care what you think, you have to sit here". I thought that was rude. Such a random place is such a random location. Was very pleasantly surprised, they have a great menu with plenty of vegetarian options. I ordered their chickpea dish , and the sauce was delicious and tasted fresh with just the right amount of salt and spices. The samplers (one near, one vegetarian) allow you to try several different tings. My husband and I LOVE this restaurant! We try something new every time we go, but always get the Veggie Appetizer Plate (a wonderful and filling array of fried, but never greasy, foods paired with 3 delicious dipping sauces) and the Butter Chicken (an indulgent dish whose bright red sauce is the stuff of dreams). It's true that the ambiance is lacking, but the food more than makes up for it! And just so you know, their spicy scale feels a little conservative to us. This was the best Indian food I've ever had. The ambiance is cozy and every table in the place was full. We were seated immediately and service was excellent. Our server and other staff were particularly gracious about our 3 year old and newborn, adding a chair to the table for the car seat and bringing a side of rice right away for the toddler to eat. We ordered a vegetarian sampler, butter chicken, samosas and a chickpea-based starter. Everything was exceptional, and though we had slightly too much food for 3 adults and a 3 year old, we couldn't decide what we would have left out. Our bill came to just over $50, a great deal. The food would get a 4. But the service? Not very happy. Apparently a woman dining alone isn't something they're quite used to. I just moved here, heard the food was good and decided to give it a go today and be seated rather than getting take out. It was 1:30 pm, so not early and there were multiple open tables. I had ordered, received my drinks, and the guy who runs the place came over to my table and started moving my things and my drinks over to another table. I looked at him with a puzzled expression and he said, "We need this table to make a bigger one." He didn't ask if I minded. He didn't say he was sorry and could he please move me to another table. He didn't do anything other than starting to pick up my stuff and assuming that it was okay. It was not okay and I was pissed. If he had good manners about it, not a problem. But I bet if I had been a guy dining alone, the outcome would have been different. While I recognize that cultural differences are what they are, disrespectful behavior of your customer is never okay. Good food. Not sure I'll come back after this experience. Update on 12/2017 - I have never been back. I never received an apology on their Facebook page, where I posted about my experience. They have responded to other comments made there, but not mine. So obviously, they don't care about their bad manners. I have consistently gone to Curry House since my experience at Curry Corner. I was visiting from Southern California and came here with with a friend. I must say this is probably the tastiest Indian food I've ever had. Everything we tried was extremely flavorful and delicious, especially the chicken tikka masala. Be sure to try their mango lassi also.
