Everything was sooo good and flavorful. The portions are decent and they give plenty of rice, which I like! We have enough for another meal. There is definitely no skimping on the meat that they put in their dishes! You know how you end up with all the sauce but no meat? Well, no worries here! The lamb was tender and not too much of a gamey taste! They know how to cook their lamb! Since I am such a wuss when it comes to spiciness, I got mild, but it had just enough "spice" that I could handle! :-) I would totally come back here! read more

We've generally phone ordered pick-up takeout here many times. The Chicken Tikka Masala was tasty with a requested medium spice level. We also had the Chicken Kadai dinner. The Naan's (garlic and plain) could have been made a bit fluffier, but they tasted fine though. The chicken meat tasted fresh, and not pressed or processed like some places do it for their lesser costs. The portion entre sizes are generous. Also, an upside is that their prices here are quite reasonable and affordable. A bit annoying here. I only would have liked if they didn't make us wait another 15 mins. upon arrival for our unready order. It's as if they didn't start cooking OR preparing it, until we had shown up. My only experience here was the buffet on a Sat at 2pm. The servers were pleasant enough and the restaurant seemed clean etc. I was charged the $17.99 dinner price instead of the $15.99. I thought maybe because it was the weekend, but the website clearly states lunch hours. I even said, "You sure that's right?" when I was paying because it seemed higher than I remember when I looked it up at home. In the end, I spent $23 (with 20% tip) for a plate and a half of mediocre food. None of it was hot and sort of bland for Indian food (yeah, I know, its a buffet). The Naan bread was honestly the best part, lamb curry following it in second place. Not sure why I see so many raving reviews. read more

What's in a name ? Apparently if the first two words of that are "Curry Craft" then there is a great deal in that name - especially if there is or is not a third word... There are two restaurants in North County with that title but one of them has a something extra in the name: the word "Nordahl". Exactly 7 days ago, my wife and I tried that one with the extra word and were completely blown away by just how good their Sunday lunch buffet was (See my review of that one, posted the week previous to this one). It was so good in fact that, although my wife couldn't make it, I wanted to try the other one just for comparison. Big mistake... Curry Craft-Nordahl, is as the name suggests, just off of Nordahl Rd, in the WallMart plaza. Curry Craft is about a five minute drive away and just across the street from San Marcos High School. As I was to find out, that word "Nordahl" makes one heck of a difference. When I walked in, I noticed immediately that unlike its extra-word sibling, the buffet also lacks some "extras". No complimentary Mango Lassi, no Hot Spiced Chai and no hand-prepared Bhel Puri - but OK, those things are usually not already included at most Indian buffets so no reason to panic, yet... Still, there were fewer selections than at the other location and things just somehow didn't look quite as appetizing as they did at Nordahl. I had come a long way specifically to try the place out though so if I was in for a penny, I was in for a pound. I got a plate at the head of the buffet table and first thing I noted was no Samosas but Spring Rolls instead. I like Spring Rolls OK but this was supposed to be an Indian buffet after all... Plunging ahead, the rice Biryani looked nice so I made a bed of it on the plate and proceeded to the curries. They all looked a bit thin and watery which is usually not a good sign but sometimes the taste can still surprise but ... not this time. Particularly disappointing was the Aloo Mattar. Very thin and soupy, bland and with almost no spice. The chicken curry was tough and also boringly bland. On the plus side, the Lamb Curry had lots of nice chunks of meat with very little fat and/or gristle, which would have been a nice unexpected change from most Indian buffets but it too was bland and the meat was not well cooked so it was a bit tough. Worst of all was the Channa Dal. Although it was nicely spiced and had a bit more flavor than the others, unfortunately it is very easy to undercook chick peas and leave them unpleasantly crunchy and Curry Craft was definitely in "easy" mode on this day. To make matters worse, the onions in the dal were hardly cooked at all and were practically raw - Yuck... And the sides? The Naan was nicely done and tasty but they ended up charging me extra for garlic naan when in fact I had the plain naan. The Pakoras were OK but not spectacular like the ones at Nordahl. The salad and the Raita were fine though and the mint chutney was excellent, which kinda made me think it was brought over from the other location. So all in all, what a difference an extra word makes ! To get back to the 15 freeway on the way home, I had to drive right past the Nordahl location so I decided to pop in just to see what differences there might have been. Many of the menu items on the buffet were the same ones so they must coordinate the menus somewhat but WOW.... It sure did not look the same! Everything at Nordahl looked much more well prepared with thicker and more robust looking sauces and extra items (including those to-die-for Samosas) as well that looked so delicious that I really wished I had turned around and walked out of the previous location and just come back here to actually eat. Too late now though... So anyway, if you're looking for a great buffet lunch in North County, at a great price, look no further than Curry Craft but just be sure to go to the right one - the one with the third word in the name. read more

I went there today with my family, 3 buffet plates, 1 naan bread, 1 beer. $16.99/plate, naan $3.49, beer $7. But they charged me $71.xx. + Tip I gave $15 cuss it seemed too high. As we left the restaurant we were like $71 that is expensive. I called and id the math and it should have been $66.37 with tax, still expensive for buffet. The guy told me to receipt machine was broken. so I was like, wtf? They first tell you to sit down and eat, no menu, no prices. I guess it's my fault but still, watch out. read more

I placed a delivery order via Yelp. Tipped according to my order total. I ordered... Koju Khoya Paneer Vegetarian samosa 2 mango Lassi Seekh Kabab Beingan Ka Bharta My order arrived on time. The man handed me my 2 Mango Lassi and a pink bag with the food. After he l left, I opened the bag and my kabab order wasn't in the bag. I called the restaurant. Was told that there were supposed to be 2 bags. They told me that they will contact the driver and have him return to drop off the other bag. Then I was called to inform that the driver can't be reached and that I will be refunded for the kabob. It bothered me so I called Grubhub. They told me that the driver wasn't given a second bag. Apparently the restaurant called to request a refund already for a mix up. I wish the restaurant would have just admitted that they forgot, rather than blaming the driver. Aside from all that, everything was actually pretty good. The samosas were perfect! I just wish there was a side of chutney with tamarind sauce to eat with. The curries were delicious too. So after the missing protein which was for the only carnivore in the house (me!). Missing chutney and tamarind sauce, I can't justify 5 stars. Since the food was good, I'll have to give them 4 stars. Will probably order from here again. But if I have issues again, my rating will change dramatically. read more

Went here with my boyfriend and he said "Out of 10, I give this place an 11" You definitely NEED to try this place if you haven't. The restaurant is in a prime location, and I always pass it on SM Blvd. Finally my bf and I decided to go in to try it!!! Long story short, this now my new go to Indian restaurant. The curry is amazing and everything just melts together beautifully. The chicken tiki masala was everything you expect it to be and more. We also got the cashew curry and garlic naan bread! Delicious. The portions were large, the pricing was average, and the staff were so kind accommodating and attentive! I can't remember who our server was... his name started with an "N"? Believe it or not, above photo is chicken vindaloo. Never seen a reddish tandoor colored preparation of the GOAN dish. Doesn't look or taste like it. Is this much food coloring allowed in food approval? Biriyani is at its worst taste. Full of color in yellow and red. They tried to make it look like tasty and colorful. Should have attempted to make it tasty. Request the cook and owner to try other biriyani around so-cal and get realist what it really taste like. $50 wasted yesterday, will never show up even it is free. read more

Food and service were great. The naan was fresh and the biryani was delicious. The menu had plenty of options to choose from.

Transport your taste buds to an Indian spice adventure. The curry warms the heart and soul from the inside out. The atmosphere is just as warm and inviting with service that was nothing less than above and beyond, exceptional. As a vegetarian even buffets can be limiting but not here. Restaurant was super clean with very nice vibes. We were quickly lead to our seats by Jessie and he answered any questions we had about the menu while giving recommendations when asked. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Chicken Tikki Masala at a spice level of 3 and it was amazing. The garlic naan that I ordered paired super nicely with the sauce and the mango lassi was a perfect palate clenser.
