Coconut Roti, Chicken & Pork Curry, Chutney, Cabbage, Yellow Rice, Coconut Sambol..... Deliciousness
    Chelsea M.

Heather is the cook for this Sri Lankan pop - up diner. She cares about quality ingredients. When you eat with her you are getting a fresh organic home cooked meal. My hubby is from Sri Lankan and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The food was authentic, flavorful and of course delicious. Traditionally SL food is more spicy than this, but we are in Minnesota where black pepper is spicy SO there wasn't anything too overwhelming with the heat. Sri Lankan Food takes a LONG time to prepare, so I was wondering how that would work when we arrived BUT essentially everything is made ahead of time and kept warm until ready to be served. It is about $25 per person for the main meal, which includes a ton of side dishes along with rice and two different curries. The appetizer, drinks (get the house made chai) and roti are additional costs. It is a cash only place, but there is an ATM across the street. You pretty much show up to be surprised by whatever the set menu is for the evening! We went with some friends and really enjoyed our time. It is a more expensive dinner but, you are getting a unique intimate experience (only 18 people eat at a time) and it's quality organic ingredients. And we brought sooooo much food home with us!

There were other great options too! So this would be a solid date spot or meeting with friends so everyone can get something they like. There is a fair amount of seating inside and a fair amount of seating outside on a patio. There really isn't a view for the patio. There are free parking lots across the street though! Service: This is where they lost a star from us. The woman who took our order had no energy, wasn't very friendly and just looked annoyed we were ordering. I had heard good things about the service, so this was a bummer. The food: We got them take out wings and each got the pork ramen. The wings are very good, but best in twin cities? No. Are they worth getting? If you love a crunchy wing, then yes! The ramen had the most flavorful broth!! Oh my goodness it was rich and full of flavor! The noddles were cooked perfectly! Definitely one of the best ramen dishes I have had in the twin cities! We would have tried the ribs but they were all out of :( Definitely check this place out!

Since the weather was great, the good folks of Minneapolis were outside doing what they do. That's perfect for us urban dwellers, who would choose AC over sweat, skin cancer, and wrinkles because bar seats are open. Lyricx was our server, and he took great care of us. Plus, he was fun and laughed at my ridiculous commentary. We did take out after having a few drinks, and the grub at Lat 14 always is lip-smacking good. Although I love Gai Noi and think Khaluna is one of the best restaurants in the United States, worthy of James Beard recognition, Lat 14 has a special place in my heart and might be my favorite within this restaurant triumvirate.

I had the smoked salmon rice this time and thought it was really good with a nice spicy kick. My friends ordered the pad thai (which they ALWAYS get) and loved it as usual. The space is fun, the food is consistently good, and it's a great place for a group dinner or parties!

This place is absolutely fantastic! I've actually been coming here for a few years with my friends…read morefor happy hour. Recently, I started coming for the food dinner and realized I was missing a lot. Their menu is very thoughtful in each dish has a nice variety of textures and flavors. I will say that their Ramen is one of the best in town. I think really what sets it apart is the broth being super in depth and they grill the pork belly which makes it really smoky and tender. This time I branched out and got the grilled squid as well and it was exceptional. The soy ginger glaze on it was incredible. The only few downsides I think I've noticed is service can be a little bit hit or miss which is surprising how small the places. Even when sitting at the bar, it took a little bit to get their attention. Also, I've tried a few of the cocktails and for the main part they just taste like alcohol with a soda. They sound extremely creative on the menu, but the balance isn't there. Either way I've typically gotten sake as they have a nice little selection. Overall, I love the whole vibe of this place. I always enjoy being able to see people make sushi. It's very open yet. Doesn't get overwhelmingly loud. Definitely my top three Japanese spots in Minneapolis.

Drinks: The Last Samurai cocktail & the Imposter Among Us mocktail were both delightful. Love the unique drink options, and the two we had were executed beautifully. Sushi: Unfortunately, the sushi was a bit disappointing. We had the hotate yuzu, Suzuki oshizushi, tamago nigiri, and the futomaki. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though. Dessert: The yuzu custard - one of my favorite desserts I've eaten in a long time. Definitely the best thing we had and I would absolutely get it again. Service: Our service was pretty good. I did watch one of the other servers grab soup spoons by the part you eat from and then bring them to a table which was concerning. Note: For anyone with dietary specifications: they offered gluten free soy sauce, and the custard was a vegan dessert and it was delightful.

Cozy Hmong-American restaurant with French-influenced pastries? Count me in! I literally updated my destination to this restaurant while in the uber and decided to grab a bit of food before heading to my hotel. I had no reservation, but arriving a little after 1 pm on a Monday had no wait for a bar seat. It's such a cozy, homey restaurant with light wood, light brick, natural light, few plants inside and a very casual patio with picnic tables outside. I could see this place being a tough reservation during peak times. I hadn't eaten all day and was extremely hungry. I opted for the king crab omelette with red curry beurre blanc. I got a side of sticky rice to make it slightly heartier since I was so hungry and got some pastries to go, since I was in a bit of a time crunch to make it to my hotel and take some work calls. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. My server really did Minneapolis proud, chatted with me about my trip, gave me other great goodie recommendations to fill out my dining for the week, and overall really made the visit special. The crab omelette was unreal. Simultaneously fresh, light, but with a hint of kick and richness from the red curry beurre blanc. Excellent flavor combo. I got the crab Rangoon danish and the coconut pandas croissant to go and ate them for breakfast the next day and they were still so light and fresh with unreal flavor combos. The pandan was my favorite and I tend to be a savory over sweet pastry girl. This place is deserving of all of its hype and more. I honestly really wanted to go back and asked if I could try to sneak in a reservation to come again for later in the week, but sadly they are when I was free the rest of the time I was in town. Absolutely scheming to come back to Minneapolis just to eat here again!

Service was good but it was weird that we paid before being seated including tips. I personally prefer the Sichuan broth but if you are not good with spices, Korean seafood broth is a good option! We also ordered from a tablet for meat and vegetables so that made things easier.
