Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, the quality of this food included. I ordered takeout from Curry Indian Cuisine. We placed this order a few days ago and it was so bad I couldn't finish the meal. The food was tasteless and lacked flavor. The naan was extremely bland and almost rubbery, the mali kofta dumplings were watery and absolutely disgusting. This meal was a failure on every level. Please don't waste your money. read more

I went to Curry Indian Cuisine specifically for Samosas. I needed a snack before going to the Regal Theater in the same parking lot. I bought both veggie and chicken to try them out. They were good. I used to buy them from an Indian restaurant in New York where they made them fresh all day and I ordered dozens for office parties and family gatherings. They are the tastiest little treats. This is my husband and I's absolute favorite place to go after the gym. Their lunch buffet from 11am - 3pm every Sunday is incredibly filling and has so many options. Everything is also labeled and they do a great job of keeping a good rotating schedule of different foods. Tons of vegetarian options. Hot, delicious food. We love going here! read more

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of coming in today because, well, it was raining, and I had a hankering for Indian cuisine. (I didn't feel like cooking. ) The downfall of some parts of Gastonia is that the power goes out when it rains. When we arrived, we realized the power was out in the restaurant as well, but we saw others entering, so we did the same. We were greeted by the manager, Raj, who informed us that there was no power but that they had some lighting in the kitchen and could accommodate us if we wanted to enjoy dinner. Well, I'm glad we decided to stay. I knew immediately that I wanted some garlic naan because that's one of the main reasons I came, lol. My husband ordered a mango juice for his drink, and I ordered a Coke. We were offered water as well. Observations I made as we sat waiting and also looking through the menu. The restaurant still has mainly the aesthetic of the prior business that was there. The tables have cloth napkins but would benefit from even the simplest addition of tablecloths. I asked Raj for his recommendation for something to eat, as I'm definitely tired of chicken tikka masala everywhere because everyone orders it. Raj told me he enjoys the Chicken Roghan Josh, and that is literally what I was looking at on the menu. Something about the sauce being made with almonds caught my attention. My husband was looking at the counterpart of that dish but in lamb form. And so that is what we ordered. When the food arrived, we were given enough meat in a bowl for two people to share easily, along with a side of basmati rice . Then, the fresh naan was brought out. We asked for the meats to be cooked with medium spice , and that did not disappoint. The level of spice was not overpowering, and goodness, the sauce was creamy and cooked to perfection. The naan was well made. Only one piece was a little crispy, but that's understandable as they were working with hardly any light. But I loved it so much that I ordered more to go . As we were close to finishing, the lights came back on, and that was perfect because it was getting darker outside. I decided to get a dessert and opted for the kheer (rice pudding). It was more on the simpler side, but I truly loved the flavor because it wasn't overly sweet, and it felt great once eaten in my stomach (you know, hot food). I asked Raj about the buffet since he had brought it up before we left, and let's just say that if the other dishes are as good as the one we just enjoyed, it is well worth $14.99. I truly liked that he was open to suggestion, as we are the consumers coming in to enjoy what they have to offer. It's definitely a must-go if you enjoy something different. I will note that it is true what some reviewers have said: it seems not so much on the traditional side of Indian cuisine; it's modified to fit those who are not used to a certain taste. But that, to me, isn't a takeaway because they are willing to appease the area they're in. read more

Yay! I walked into the newly opened Curry Indian cuisine the other day to give it a try! I wasn't swept off my feet when I walked in. A couple of customers paying for their food while I waited and watched but I believe the host was serving as both host and register. So i can understand not being seated with the quickness. The atmosphere is a little "bare bones" but who cares when all ya want is a nice plate of food!? There is a small buffet filled with yummy dishes. Some vegetarian and some not. My partner and I absolutely love this place. I'm just an average white dude from Gastonia, but, in my estimation, this is the best Indian food I've ever had. I'm addicted to paneer (and for the life of me I can't figure out why no one ever told me India is hiding squeaky cheese from all of us) and Curry's paneer is absolutely on point. We've gotten various proteins in their tikka masala, saag, and navratan korma and everything is simply delicious. And their garlic naan is ridiculously good. Portions are huge so every entree we order can feed us 2 or 3 times each. Service has been stellar every time whether we're eating in-house or grabbing a to-go order. They offer a Sunday buffet as well, something we'll be trying very soon. The interior is bright, colorful, and clean with relaxing music piping through the whole place. We had a fantastic lunch at Curry Indian Cuisine in Gastonia! I ordered the lamb Rogan Josh, and it was absolutely delicious--tender meat, rich flavor, and the perfect level of spice. We also tried a vegetarian curry that was just as flavorful, showcasing their great balance of spices. The garlic naan was fresh, warm, and packed with flavor--we ordered two and were really pleased with the portion sizes. We also shared the sampler appetizer, which was a great way to try a few different bites and everything on it was tasty. Table clothes and a water craft were nice to not need to get a waiters attention. Huge menu, so many good choices. The service was friendly, we weren't in a rush and they were not busy at that time, and the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable. Probably the worst service I've had in NC. I had to ask to be seated, then it took 15 minutes and multiple attempts to flag a server down before anyone came and even asked if we needed anything. After placing our order, it was 30 minutes before I finally asked where pure food was, and another guy had been waiting even longer than us. The guy said food would be out in one minute, then disappeared to the back. After 5 more minutes with no update, my girlfriend and I left. The restaurant was at 60% capacity by seats filled when we left. Avoid this place. read more

Great food for the most part. Service was disappointing due to disorganization, although the staff were very nice. The ambiance wasn't very welcoming. They are nice folks, but unfortunately, I don't believe that have any idea how to run a restaurant. It seems like they are trying to guess their way through it and we all know how that always ends up. They put ground pepper in pepper mills. Who the h*ll does that ? So sad because Gastonia has been in need of a decent Indian restaurant for decades. I truly hope they can turn it around and succeed. I'll be their best customer. If they don't? I tried this place for the first time and they happened to have a buffet so that's what we tried. They had a little bit of everything including meats, veggies, carbs, bread, sauces, desserts, and even a juice. Everything we tried was great. We loved the okra and potatoes were a fun find. I am not sure if I enjoyed them as I should but I was duping with the Raita, tamarind sauce, and hot sauce. All of the curries were great and I was surprised that they had goat and a chili fish on the buffet. It made it a pretty good value to try a bit of everything and even learn about the menu. The staff was amazing and constantly bringing us fresh water and fresh naan. They were ask effortlessly nice. Everyone asked how we were and if we needed anything. We weren't rushed which is always great for a buffet. All in all it was a great visit and a good value so it deserves full stars for a buffet. I'm not sure how regular service stacks up or if it's worth it but I would try it again. read more

The lights are on and nobody's home. Well, let me tell you a story. Walked in, 3 guys standing at front kiosk, waited to be acknowledged, only a minute, sat at a table close to the front door. Now, dear reader, please know that we were the 6th and 7th customers in there. We were sat at a table with no water, menus, silverware, while 3 guys not more then 6 feet away, ignored us. I had to ask if they had menu's. I then ask if they have Gluten Free options or if the pakora is made traditionally or if they add to it. The answer was "yes, yes, good good" and he walked away. I asked if he was familiar with Gluten and Gluten free ingredients, "yes, yes, good, good, all good". Well, either there was a language barrier ( I speak with a NY accent) or everything was in fact "yes,yes, good,good " He asked if we we're ready to order, I said yes, so he walked away. Then I walked away. I suggest hiring folks with some service experience. Or don't. Cause everything is "yes, yes, good, good"! read more

Idk what these other reviews are talking about, this food is fire and the staff are so kind and nice (and they are proficient in English)! We've been here twice, once for takeout and another time for the lunch buffet. Both times they were attentive and provided great service. The lunch buffet was actually flavorful and had a bit of spice in the food, unlike other Indian buffets I've tried that are bland AF. Service really wasn't that bad when we were there. Service was about a 3.75/5 We ended up getting Butter Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo with sides of onion naan and garlic naan. The food was very delicious and everything that came out was piping hot. No complaints whatsoever from the taste and freshness of the food. The food itself was a solid 4.25/5. We were slightly disappointed with the portion sizes considering what we paid for our meals. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious. Just wish the value was better, whether that's slightly more food, or slightly less priced. read more

Horrible service, but food was good. Thus 2 stars. Practically empty restaurant. Took 20 minutes to have our order taken. Another 40+ minutes for food to arrive. Waiter muttered something about the kitchen being very busy when he finally brought our order. 3 tables seated after us in our area. 2 had their orders taken before us. All 3 received food before us. No one ever offered explanation to delay in food even though they routinely checked on the other tables around us. The waiter did however quickly bring us the hand held card reader for us to pay our bill which he held while we scanned our card AND entered the tip. Can't recommend going here unless you have a lot of time to kill sitting around talking people while your order is taken and you wait for the kitchen to cook your meal. read more

Like many other reviews, when I visited this location, I sat at my table for 27 minutes without being visited once by any staff, except to have our water glasses filled one time when we arrived. We left the restaurant and were not acknowledged by the staff as we walked out. A woman followed us to our car to beg us to come back inside but we had plans and couldn't waste over an hour waiting around for food. If this location doesn't properly train their staff they will not last longer than 2 months. read more

My husband and I love Indian food so we were excited to try this place, unfortunately I wasn't impressed. First when we walked in nobody greeted us even though there was a guy at the front register he didn't even acknowledge us. We just grabbed menus and stood there waiting, finally when another young lady walked in behind us someone came but they didn't greet us they greeted her and then acknowledged us, although I thought that was a little rude we still stayed to order. The garlic naan we ordered didn't have much garlic seasoning on it, it was plain naan. I wrongly assumed the dishes would come with curry rice, all the dishes we ordered came with plain white rice. They asked for the level of spice we wanted and it didn't taste like they added any spice. The Shrimp Saab I ordered had a really nice flavor to it and I had plenty left for leftovers!
