The Food was delicious I highly recommend the butter chicken! They have 5 separate spice levels so it can be enjoyed by all spice tolerances, They offer this option for many other dishes as well. The naan bread is also very delicious and goes well with everything. The atmosphere was comfortable and they had multiple seating areas for waiting for pickup orders/to-go orders. I have ordered twice from this restaurant in the last ten days for delivery. In both instances I did not get the dish I was ordering, instead receiving some bland and unidentifiable item. This restaurant has gone through some difficult periods in the past with complaints that range from poor quality food to cockroaches roaming freely through the business. When the restaurant is running well the food is good but all it takes is inconsistency and poor service to mess it up. A DoorDash delivered meal from here is 30-40 dollars after you add delivery fees and the restaurants inflated prices for delivery. At those prices I want what I ordered, not a carelessly assembled order. I guess we're in another period where poor service is normal for this business. My recommendation: don't waste your time. Curry Kitchen has the best Indian food in Muskegon. Also the only Indian restaurant in Muskegon, the food is pretty good. The service, however, is phenomenally bad. Most of the waitestaff are nowhere to be found most of the time, and can't be bothered with in-restaurant customers when they are nearby. Their delivery and pickup service is worse. I've never waited less than an hour and a half for an order to be ready, and waited two and a half hours for one delivery. The most recent order for pickup, which took them an hour to prepare, ended with them sending our order out the door with someone else's DoorDash driver. And to add insult to injury, the staff couldn't be bothered to help us, or try to make it right; they just disappeared. After 45 minutes of trying to get our order, trying to find out what happened to our food, and trying to find out if DoorDash was actually--by some glitch--delivering to us, they finally found our order. It was sitting out the whole time. They just hadn't bothered looking. So we had cold scurry Kitchen for our daughter's birthday dinner. read more

Food is good. The entrees I've tried mutter paneer, chana masala, chicken korma and mango chicken. are little sweet for my taste but still good. The garlic naan is great. My son Eric and I visited today. He had the butter chicken and I the Kunan Beef. Both were good. Eric liked my plate better and I liked his. We liked it all enough to bring the leftovers home. We also had the garlic Mann bread which is nice to have with your food. Ours came out early but still had some left for the meal. Interesting experience, smells were good, server polite. I gave them a 4 because of no beer. If you want boxes for leftovers they have little plastic containers so if you don't want the dishes mixed, ask for two. The most spicy versions of the main courses are absolutely sweet. Idk how to make Indian food but I do know when something is not spicy at all. As someone that can handle spicy dishes but also has a pretty well balanced palette, I find it laughable to even call the spiciest sauce spicy. You could've thrown franks hot sauce on it and it would've been more acusarte a discription. Food was ok though a land the service was nice. Thank you for working during covid-19. The only thing that could've made our experience better was if the business obtained more patient and customer oriented hospitality persons. The guy who answered became very impatient very quickly and even passed my call over to another staff person; he had me on hold longer than he'd have waited had he not been so impatient. It would be nice if the restaurant understood that not all of us are familiar with its dishes. A little patience goes a long way especially if a business wants to remain in business. Overpriced (think prices for a metro area but charging so in little old Muskegon) for the quality of food and service there. Food isn't anything extraordinary and I would have given 3 stars or maybe pushing it to 3.5 except the owners don't have a clue about customer service or being professional. The other thing I don't like is that they nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. I ordered food to go but it wasn't ready on time. While I was waiting another customer came in and waited and waited. We could both hear the argument that was ongoing between the staff and the owners in the kitchen. Finally the other customer got frustrated and knocked on the kitchen door. Despite this there was no response and the arguing continued. Finally the other customer ended up going g into the kitchen to get their attention. Apparently my food was ready the whole time and they just handed it to me. I as for 2-3 peppers in case the food wasn't spicy enough and the lady owner said .... "We don't have peppers". Are you kidding me??!! What Indian place doesn't have peppers? I had to pick up and order the next day for a friend and I asked for peppers (just for the heck of it) and the staff was happy to give a few. The next time I ordered food I asked for the peppers again...it was the lady owner this time. She said there would be an extra charge for them. This place is soooo mismanaged and with the arguments they have in the kitchen, I wouldn't be surprised if the cook will sabotage them some day. Oh wait, the staff saiid that they go through and lot of chefs. ‍ Oh BTW the "cool" ambience is basically a crappy interior with dirty floors and mismatched auction seating and tables with some Indian art thrown in. TL;DR: More than 1 hour wait for carry out. Upon eating our food the chicken tikka and malai tikka were not completely cooked. Malai tikka was completely raw. Long story: I came to Muskegon for the Labor Day weekend. In downtown, there are a few ethnic restaurants with Curry Kitchen being one. My family and I were very excited to eat here, as we're from Pakistani background and Indian food is the closest to the kind of food we eat. Them serving halal meat was a plus. We ordered chicken tikka, malai tikka, and dal tadkha. Unfortunately, the 1+ hour wait was not worth it. While the dal was great, albeit spicy, both chicken and malai tikka were not properly cooked, and were completely raw. The chicken tikka was not authentic as they used BBQ sauce to make it. This is a restaurant with such great potential but the service and food were not good. The restaurant closes at 9 PM and we submitted our order at 7:20; there is no excuse for raw food after a 1+ hour wait. read more

I absolutely loved the place back then, so I was a little nervous trying it out this time- since it was pretty much perfect before. We were the only ones there, which surprised me, as it was dinner time. The menu was extensive and everything looked great, so it was hard to decide. I ended up getting the vegetable korma with garlic naan. My daughter got a chicken dish. The food was good and plentiful. Im not sure how fresh the veggies were, as they tasted like they came from a frozen bag of veggies... But the cashew sauce was awesome. I tried her chicken... it was good too, but not as tasty as 21 Spices in Naples, FL. It was not as tender as I like. The bill was a little steep for the location and ambiance, but it wasn't crazy. I was asked was I here for 'take out', I said NO, I'M EATING HERE. A man said, I've been calling you ... I don't think so since I was sitting within full view of restaurant staffers. The food to EAT HERE was now sitting on the counter, all packed up to go ... it was less than room temperature. I took the food to a table, asked for a plate and some eating utensils. The man said, confused, "You want a plate?" YES, I'M EATING HERE. I WANT A PLATE. I'm absolutely convinced that failure to LISTEN is responsible for most problems in the world. I mean, how was I not clear when I said EAT HERE, EAT OUTSIDE AND I WANT A PLATE? No one ever checked to make sure I was ok (I really wasn't) and no refill on the water. My take aways here: 1. No one is listening. 2. The food is very good but would have been much better at the correct temperature. 3. No one offered to warm the food up. 4. The mango shake lid was not properly fastened down and spilled on my favorite white blouse, an indeligible stain. Please, PEOPLE, listen! Service was a little better than what is typical for Indian but beware. Having only had the opportunity to enjoy the Saturday buffet at Curry Kitchen, this review will be based solely on it, as in no reviews from the menu. Buffet hours are Monday-Saturday 11am-3pm and Sunday 12pm-3pm. There is not a flavor, an aroma or a color that is not represented in the abundant, spread of foods, sauces (mint/curries/mustard's/mango) and other accompaniments offered at Curry kitchen's weekend buffet. Growing up in an ethnic neighborhood in NYC, Indian food was very common, the typical meats such as lamb or goat I grew accustomed to, are not served at Curry Kitchen's buffet. However the Paneer dishes, fried vegetables, tandoori chicken, tiki masala & additional Indian entrees served up hot in their Chafers dishes, clearly make up for the lack of a fore mentioned meats. Curry Kitchen advertise on the hockey boards of the L.C. Walker arena which houses the Muskegon Lumberjacks hockey team. I think that point is worthy of mentioning, as ethnic restaurants generally are not as supportive of local sports, in part due to their size and lack of marketing budget. So support the Curry Kitchen as they have committed to Muskegon's Downtown revival and future growth. Excellent service and an extremely friendly, sincere and genuine owner who is always on site to thank you for your patronage. Also find them on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare for updates. This place was great. The food was exceptional as was the staff. Very friendly and they appreciated that I loved their food. I absolutely loved the chutney and raita with my Peshawari naan bread. Also had the garlic naan. I enjoyed both with a Mango Lassi. I gave 4/5 stars because the pizza was not good and I could have done better in my kitchen. We were disappointed in the flavor. Was not unique in any way. I would suggest they stick to traditional Indian fare. Word of caution: Avoid spicy hot foods. The local culture in general does not care for hot and spicy. Employees and/or Owner tried to steal my son's phone!!!!! My son and his girlfriend went to dinner tonight. My son left his phone, we found it there through Find my iphone, I called and said my son was on the way to pick it up. When my son arrived they told him "No, phones have been found". My son asked to borrow a phone to call me. He called his phone instead and it rang under the counter where they had it hidden along with several others. (My son boldly walked behind the counter to get his phone and left) Integrity is hard to come by these days. We will NEVER set foot in this place again. I'm going to start off by saying my family has been coming here since they opened and have never been disappointed before this unpleasant experience. We ordered 3 Mali Kafta and 1 Chicken 65, our favorite, as well as some appetizers and Garlic Naan. We ordered to go and once home opened everything up. Immediately the chicken was so overcook and chewy it wasn't even edible. The Mali Kafta was flavorless and the dumplings were squishy and small. None of us ate any of it. I called the restaurant and spoke to a girl who was very friendly and understanding of our frustrations after spending $84 on dinner and tipping. I told her we were just wanting a refund and I was happy to come get it. She told me she understands and didn't have manager codes but a manager or owner would be calling me back. Never received a call back so decided to call today. Spoke with the owner who told me I should have asked for them to remake it, which wasn't offered and that she can't give me a refund only a gift card for a Mali Kafta and Chicken 65.
