Food was good! We had the the Salmon n'grits and the jerk chicken n'waffles! Both were amazing! The grits were the highlight however. They were seasoned well and weren't runny. The pineapple coconut mimosas were to die for! It wasn't too sweet either, perfect balance in my opinion. Additionally, the atmosphere was very intimate and inviting. There was also a live jazz band playing, that set the mood. Lastly, the waitress Porsha was very hospitable and offered good recommendations from the menu. Our visit to Curry & Jerk last night was a refreshing change from our normal restaurants of choice in Memphis. Our review might be biased in that my wife and I both enjoy Caribbean cuisine. We were rewarded during our visit to this restaurant by attentive service, authentic Caribbean cuisine/beverages and very attractive prices. Got oxtails and curry goat, both was delicious!! However we will not be returning and will most definitely tell other people not to go!! Didn't realize until I got home a 15% gratuity added to my check, I called the next day to ask about this, the person who answered stated that it was mandatory. Also I came in ordered, waited in my car for my order to get ready and then picked up my order to go, so what was the 15% gratuity for? Stumbled upon this place yesterday at lunchtime. Very good, generous jerk shrimp appetizer and spicy cooked cabbage. Hubs had jerk chicken sandwich. okay i have to say this was a GREAT outing. my server was Teresa. from the time i arrived she treated me as if i was the only customer and i was not. i started cocktailing while waiting for my friends to arrive at the bar. the bartender recommended the "house punch". if you like a STRONG drink and rum; i highly recommend treating yourself. "happy hour" is a GREAT deal; trust! once my guests arrived we were immediately escorted to a table of our choice. we ordered the sampler platter; again something i recommend. i loved both the jerk shrimp & chicken. because i'm not a plantains person but they were good for something i have for the first time. we placed our orders. i had curry goat; it was awesome. my first time (a LOT of first time experiences i suppose,). the sides included cabbage (which i love) & beans with rice (okay). one of my friends had curry chicken and the other friend ordered oxtail. we all sampled each other's orders and there were a mixed consensus on the favorites. as for me i love the curry goat and plan to visit again to treat myself. my friends loved their dishes as well. so to add to our experience, we ordered meals to go. i chose the jerk chicken wings with fries and one of my friends ordered the party wings. she let me taste them and i wished i had gotten an order to go as well; but i will say it will be one of the many reasons i KNOW i will be returning. as for the staff, the owner (his name starts with an "A") and Teresa treated me and my friends as if we were their ONLY customers and we were not; but as i saw they treated the other customers the same way. in a nutshell, if you like spicy, try the curry goat. if you like rum, treat yourself to the cocktail hour with the house punch. i'm only speaking based on my experience tonight and i will be going back. to the owner, teresa and other staff, THANK YOU for your hospitality. this was my first outing since the pandemic began and the atmosphere made me forget all about covid, my day's events and just enjoying a very nice evening with my friends. i don't have pictures because the food looked and smelt so good, i didn't think about this review until i had cleaned my plate. i hope my review gives you what i received tonight and if so, make a post to show it is the next best thing to being in a culture that offers curry and jerk authentic cruise. read more

Afterwards, we had to wait another 30 minutes before the waitress came to take our order. The space is very small and they are not practicing any COVID-19 precautions so customer beware!!! This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but I guess the recipe has changed. I always order the curry and jerk plate. The last 3 times I've order it the curry chicken has been bland and the potatoes and carrots have been undercooked. This last time was it. I will never eat from this restaurant again and not just because the food doesn't have any taste anymore but also because customer service is nonexistent. I ordered online. I ordered the curry and jerk plate as usual. The curry chicken plate: 14.50 Curry and jerk plate (everything in the curry plate plus jerk chicken) 17.50 and then I paid $2 extra for white meat. When I received my food the only difference between the curry plate (14.50) and what I received ( 19.50) is 1 wing. 1 jerk wing cost me $5 more. I called the restaurant and the manager Brian refused to come to the phone. The woman who answered eventually put me on hold mid conversation and never came back to the phone after telling me the manager is too busy to take my call. I paid $28 for my meal. From the outside, the restaurant looks festive and inviting. We entered and 4-5 tables were occupied, 6-7 tables unoccupied. The hostess greeted us and then stated that she could seat us, but they had run out of menus. To the astonishment and joy of us all, she found 2 menus on the short walk to our table. After allowing us ample time to study the menu, the waitress asked for our drink orders. We stated that we had made our food decisions as well. Unfortunately 3 of our choices were unavailable. After more ample time we were informed that our food had been given to someone else. We finally received our meal although we had to correct parts of it. The food was really tasty. Our waitress very kind and apologetic. I'm sure they are still working out the kinks. This place has potential. I don't want to be too down on a new place because they may be able to work out the bugs. I met some friends for a Tuesday lunch. The entrance leads to a hostess stand and then splits to a bar or a dining rm a few steps up. We were given the lunch menu with about 7 choices and there was a special listed outside the entrance. A couple of ladies asked for beers and it seemed to throw the server for a loop. She did not know the options and it took too long for the beers to appear. Our group tried several of the entrees and 1 got the special shrimp & grits. There were no vegetarian options so I asked for a side of cabbage that was included with the entrees. Three in our group got the same dish curry chicken. They compared dishes and they seemed to be very different textures and flavors. The one who got shrimp & grits liked it. The cabbage was good, but it would have been nice to have salad offered. One friend ordered some takeout lunches and the kitchen was out of takeout trays and had to improvise with small containers. When the checks arrived the server said she didn't put our drinks on because it was too confusing. Most of us paid cash, but the server failed to collect one friends check and she never returned. There were a few other patrons. If they had been busy it might have explained the snafus, but I will just chalk it up to being new and hope they can work it out. read more
