Cushnoc serves up a decent pizza. They have a variety of specials or you can opt to build your own. I decided to build my own with red sauce, mozzarella cheese, and the IPA caramelized onions. I have to say, these carmelized onions are perfectly sweet and delicious. They make a top-notch topping. The pizza itself features a soft, thin, light, airy base and a chewy, charred, also airy crust. The red sauce is flavorful and really elevates the pizza. I also really appreciate that they offer vegan cheese as an option. My wife ordered a pie with vegan cheese and red onions and the cheese wasn't overly gooey (a common weakness for vegan cheeses). It was a good pie and it reheated well the next day too! You should know that the building tends to run a bit cold and sometimes, depending on where you sit, you'll get an air current. I also wish they served flights, but they do at least offer small samples you can try before ordering. Overall, I've had nothing but good experiences at Chushnoc and can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for pizza and beer in the Augusta area. read more

If you're craving pizza and beer - then this is your stop in this sleepy little town of Augusta, Maine. The dining room is a large open concept with large tables in the middle and some more individual tables scattered throughout. It has a very casual yet modern feel to it which adds some flare to this renewing riverfront area. I've been a couple times now during vacations here and each time it's been good. Each time we've had the popcorn to start off with - truffle being my favorite. They have some great staples like the Mill Park, Sand Hill, and Fort Western. But if you're not up for those mixes - build your own wood fired pie. The brews were really good too! Love the white they had one year (Betty White I believe), but next time I was in it was gone. We found Cushnoc Brewing Co, which definitely has beer (I have to try another time) but more of a casual, modern restaurant vibe. We were seated right away during lunchtime on a Friday and ordered the Vanilla Plum and Blueberry Lemonade Vodka cocktails. I was pretty satisfied with my choice, it had just enough sweetness! We shared a Bond Street Pizza, which claims to have spicy chorizo and spicy honey drizzle but I wouldn't say that the pizza is spicy. The flavor combos were delectable nonetheless! Stopped in while I was in town for work. Started of the with the fire roasted nuts and washed it down with a Water St. Brew. Great recommendation from the bar tender. Wanted three different pizzas so again asked the bartender for her recommendation, and she was spot on again. The Bond Street it was plus I added the hot peppers to kick it up one more notch. I'd imagine, for a local in Augusta this is five stars, hands down, as it is probably one of the only things happening in this sleepy city. And I'll give it to them. Although I've had better beer and pizza, this was a welcome break on a rainy afternoon. And the spot is pretty happening, with solid beers and good pizza. It's not cheap. If you're expecting cheap Maine prices, it is not that for either the pizza or beer, but it's good and a hip well designed location and quality eats and drinks. I love that they have a little "beer pub" below. We ordered our pizza upstairs to go, and walked around the corner to the beer cavern below where regulars were playing cards and drinking beers. We enjoyed a flight on the picnic bench outside looking at the flowing river on a rainy day and ya really couldn't get much better than that. Some of the beers were pretty solid, some weren't my favorite. It seems they have a few staples, but they are constantly changing it up. They seem to have 8 or 9 different varieties at once. The pizza was really good. We went with a bunch of different ones and they were really tasty, with the favorites being the meaty ones. Potatoes, bacon, cheese sauce, maple syrup, and a couple eggs on top are the base ingredients and wow do they work well together!!! Also highly recommend the Cony High Pie, the mill park pie and the crab Rangoon pizza. All 10/10! Staff have always been really attentive and pleasant. We were in town for a basketball tourney and needed a quick bite to eat on a Saturday night. We found street parking no problem (in February) and there was no wait for a table of 3. The interior was spacious and had a nice long table down the center that would have been great to sit the team at (will keep that in mind for the future). The menu basically consisted of a few quick apps, salads and wood-fired pizza. I know QR code menus were popular during Covid but I wish restaurants would go back to offering hard copy menus. I'm a fan of fun pizza toppings so I ordered the Fort Western. My 6 year old is a pretty basic eater so he stuck with cheese. My 13 year old did a "build your own": bbq basic with chicken on top. Three separate pizza ended up being a lot because there was only one size, which was about 14 inches. I really didn't want to cave and not get what I wanted in order to buy one less pie so we end up with ample leftovers. If small and large were available that would be ideal, especially since no kid menu was an option. I know it's a brewery, but it's definitely a family friendly setting. Even if I went with other adults, I'd likely want different topping them then. Other then the suggestions of hard copy menus and different size pizzas, I have no big complaints. Let me just start by saying I'm not normally much of a pizza guy at all. Typically, It's one of my least favorite foods, however that opinion has recently been challenged and changed by Cushnoc. It took me almost 40 years, but I finally found a pizza that gets me every single thing I've eaten here is amazing. The Fort Western is my absolute favorite pizza ever. I had a Caesar salad my first time here that was absolutely incredible. I wish I had a picture! The beer is really great too! My BF is obsessed with their "Janky ass amp" but they're all really great honestly. We just moved here from southern New Hampshire in March, and *literally every single time* friends and family come to visit, we bring them to Cushnoc. By the way, the gluten free pizzas are incredible too, and unlike so many other places with gluten free options, the gf dough here is homemade. Not frozen. Came here for dinner, though truth be told I was more intrigued by the brewery initially more than the food. I wanted to try the different beers they had as I tend to do that in general. Beers were amazing, but not gonna lie the pizzas were quite impressive. I wish they had a true vegetarian pie (so one star is taken off here), but the build-your-own pies were great. The crust was dope, cheese was plentiful, and the toppings were fresh. The place just seemed like a great vibe. I was in town for a wedding, so didn't have a chance to take a four pack back with me, but I certainly would have if I had time. What a jewel. We went down to Augusta to see what the city was all about and ran across Cushnoc Brewing on the waterfront. What an awesome place. From the moment you walk in the door, the service was attentive and friendly. The aromas coming from the kitchen made me salivate in expectation. Our server took the drink and appetizer order and was right back with our beers. The fire roasted nuts and warm marinated olives were the perfect start. So good, we decided to order the Herbed Cannellini Spread and glad we did. The hot flat bread with zahtar, fresh veggies and the cannellini bean spread. So good!! The to top it off, we had a small vegan pizza we built from the ingredient list. The crust on the pie was great. Thin and crisp. The only bad thing was the kitchen put arugula (not ordered) on as a topping and it overpowered the rest of the ingredients. The server said they would remake it but we needed to get going. Overall this is a wonderful place to slow down, enjoy a great brew and some awesome appetizers. I'll be back, soon! read more

Usually the food is wonderful, but Friday this was some of the worst food I've ever had. One of the toppings on my pizza was so burnt it was not edible. I told the wait staff and was still charged no apology just casual whatever. I ordered a salad to go I asked for shaved parm instead of goat cheese they gave me shaker cheese and instead of the dressing that comes with it they gave me some weird green dressing!! It was supposed to be my lunch for work, but I don't eat shaker cheese nor could I dress my salad with a dressing I'm allergic to. They really dropped the ball Friday. We were passing through Augusta with 4 hungry teens. Cushnoc was easily able to accommodate our party of 6 despite the lunchtime rush. Spacious interior with fun decor- loved the penny-round tiles on the pizza oven, the giant, wood center table with benches and the large tomato cans serving as pizza stands! Service was fast and friendly. They were able to accommodate the non-dairy eaters in the group no problem. Salad and pizza were delicious! Every last morsel vanished.
