We recently hired Custom Painting to do some decorative work on our garage to - replace 3 roof facia boards (2 at front of garage and 1 on side), - remove 3 decorative beams under roof eaves at front of garage, - touch up all disturbed areas. We were able to communicate with Norman VP/owner throughout the whole process with ease and the pricing also very reasonable. Although the scale of work is not major, Norman has dealt with all our concerns with respect and integrity, over and beyond to ensure we were happy with the end results. We changed out 6 interior doors in our home recently. Since we used Custom Painting for the outside of our house and we were extremely happy with the results, we contacted Custom Painting again. Norman replied immediately and provided an estimate soon after. After accepting the estimate, a start date was given after paying a small signing payment. Weeks later, Norman contacted us and told us his team would be able to start 3-days prior to agreed date. Painter showed up minutes early on the new date. He taped off all areas that would be exposed to the painting. Prep work and priming was completed on all doors and casing. The painting was completed in 2-days. Everything that was covered was removed and areas cleaned up. The finished work is marvelous, no ripples or botches seen on the doors and casing. Even with the design of the doors and multiple edges present on our new interior doors, the paint work is excellent. Though this may be a small project, there was excellent communication throughout the entire process. From the office administrator, the painter, and Norman, they all informed us what needed to be done and what was completed. Norman stopped by on both days to check on the work. If you have not used Custom Painting, you need to. You cannot go wrong with the pricing, communication, and quality of work. This is an exceptional company. Victor and his team from Custom Painting in Livermore just finished and we couldn't be happier with their work. We select called Custom Painting because they are local and selected them because of their responsiveness and reputation. We had Hardie cement board siding put on the second floor a few years ago so that was fine, but we really needed the first floor stucco and all gutters, eves, fascia, etc. were overdue. Norman came out and gave a fair estimate. He was very clear about what was to be done and about how long it would take. We were happy to get the call that they wanted to start 2 days early. They started with a thorough power washing. Since they were up on the high ladders to do the eves, etc they did an unexpected quick wash of the cement boards also. Then it was scraping and sanding, very extensive, taking most of the fascia boards down to the bare wood. Followed by priming any bare wood or where the old paint was cracked. The actual painting was meticulous, drop cloths, masking tape and sheets and considerable skill kept it neat. During the final cleanup I noticed a guy with a razor blade scraper cleaning the tiny line that was on the edge of the glass patio window where the masking tape was not quite perfect. For the wonderful job they did, the cheerful greeting whenever I walked around (just seeing how it was going) and the regular question "Is everything OK? We called Custom Painting to paint our fencing, fireplace, and trim around our front door. Norman, who supervised the work, came by every day to check on how the work was coming along. The painters arrived early and on time every morning. They were friendly, and their painting is impeccable. They cleaned up the work area at the end of every work day. We had a contract with Norman, and in December, Custom Painting started to paint (Cardboard for the trim and Buff for the body) but the rain came and the job was delayed. However, his people caught up with the schedule and I was impressed. This month in January, the job was done. Previously, I was informed by Norman when the doors to the apartments in 2 buildings are going to be painted so I can notify the tenants to leave them open and dried. This is SO long overdue! Due to my health circumstances, I just cannot get to all that I want to and this review just continued to slip through the cracks of my much needed "to dos". However, I am glad to bring finally our experience to Yelp for others to see! Custom Painting was exceptional. Norman was friendly, attentive, HONEST, flexible and very detail oriented. He and his team did a wonderful job assessing our family home and spent much quality time preparing our home for a fresh coat of paint. No surface was left unprepped. (Prep makes or breaks a proper paint job and so many contractors can skimp on this step or charge you 3x the amount for what is needed.) When there were questions or concerns, Norman was responsive and very respectful. He listened to our input and made us feel like our family home mattered to him. He didn't rush the job and waited for the best conditions (considering it was Fall and subject to rain) for his work and that made a huge difference in the final result. He allowed us to be involved in every aspect of the process and was willing to use the products we preferred. He gave great recommendations and was thorough. His team was pleasant, polite and on time. Normal kept up in the loop with any schedule or cost related impacts. His prices were absolutely reasonable and I never felt like anything was unfair. My review is about their communication and bidding process. Norman responded promptly and gave me a price over email which was reasonable. I then specified that I wanted a penetrating epoxy primer for the bare wood as it solidifies the weathered wood and helps paint stick better. He responded by changing his quote to an hourly price, which to me was expensive. With an hourly rate, I never know the ability of the person performing the work. It puts all of the risk on me. Had them provide a bid for painting exterior of my house. They provided a reasonable bid detailed bid. Wife asked them to paint small area with multiple colors to sample what would work, they did this multiple times. In the meantime HOA killed any plans we had to change colors, and we got delayed by 3-5 months. We now have a long process to try to get this sorted out but once we succeed, this is the company we will be using. Although Custom Painting has yet to paint my house, I like how they dealt with things up to now. They are legit. There are not enough good things I can say about the team at Custom Painting. I first had them paint the interior of my home before I moved in back in November. Norman is a joy to work with, he is communicative, attentive and easy going. He also has a ton of knowledge and expertise for choosing colors, finishes and just helping you out through the process. For my job back in November they were able to squeeze me in a finish the job right before my furniture arrived, which was HUGE. The interior looks amazing and their attention to detail is amazing. He gave a very competitive quote, so I asked him to see the deck for a firm quote and he confirmed the original one. He was friendly, responsive and professional.
