I'd give it zero if I could. I went in there a few weeks ago and talked to a guy about doing some lighting for my truck. He said I'd have to pay for the lights and when they were delivered he'd call me and se an appointment. Fair enough. A week later I came back to pay for the lights. when I walked in there was no one at the counter but I heard someone talking in the back. Eventually a different guy came out and walked right past me (a customer standing at the counter) while talking on the phone. He never looked at me, never acknowledged me standing there as a customer. He just went behind the counter to a desk and continued talking on the phone. 15 minutes went by and at no point did he ever look up, acknowledge that he had a customer in any way. Like I wasn't even standing there. Guy was a complete asshole and they just lost about a thousand dollars worth of business because he was a ruse asshole. Fuck that place. I will never take my truck there. read more

I used Custom Truck Accessories 3 years ago when I was working in Carson City. I needed tow mirrors put on my Ram 2500. They found the appropriate mirrors and installed them in 4 days. Two months ago, my driver's side mirror was damaged and needed to be replaced. I tried to find the replacement myself, but was unsuccessful. I live in the Coachella Valley so that I couldn't drive to their store. I found their number and called them a week ago. They found my paperwork, remembered who I was, and searched for a replacement. They were able to find one, and it is now on the way to my residence. These guys are the best. In my experience with this company. They (Spencer and ken or Kent) performed an exceptionally poor quality warranty repair on my solar panel. Instead of getting the proper parts the just gooped a bunch of sealant on it and tried to tell me "good as new". When I told Spencer that I didn't like the look of the repair, he tried to intimidate me by staring me down. If this is the kind of work they are willing to push out the door, they can keep it. Had a pack rat tool box installed. They ordered the wrong size initially, so I had to wait until they got the smaller one in. To my surprise the smaller toolbox cost the same as the bigger one, or at least that's what they told me! The tool box installation went great, but when I got home I noticed I had a busted tail light. The tail lights were brand new. I just bought a new one and figured I'd chalk it up. The second time I went in I had a cat back exhaust system they said they could install. Took it in for them to install it, and they called me about an hour later and said it's a builders kit and they can't weld it, but not before they cut my other exhaust off of my truck! Then when I asked them if they knew of anyone who could install the kit they said they didn't know of any shops. I will never go back to these guys. They should change their name to "Mostly Custom Truck Accessories", or "Hack and Butch Truck Accessories". These guys have terrible customer service! Use at your own risk. read more

The crew at Custom Truck in Carson City treated me right! I was having suspension noises from the front end of my 21 Tacoma which Custom Truck put a Rough Country Suspension kit on when the truck was new. I use the truck a lot off road. The kit has been great but developed noises that definitely sounded like something was broken. I couldn't see anything broken, the Toyota dealer couldn't find anything wrong after 2 visits, but finally Custom Truck found the problem -- a cracked upper control arm and 2 broken ball joints. It's wonder I never crashed! Not only did they find the problem, but they replaced both upper control arms AT NO COST. They even spoke with Rough Country and got a new pair of control arms at no cost to me. The truck now drives great. Problem solved. My hat is off to Custom Truck and Rough Country. Unlike most places, they stand behind their work and products, and will do what it takes to solve customers' problems. They are knowledgeable and capable. Can't say enough good things about them! CTA is FANTASTIC! Just about 2 years ago I got a crazy idea - I'm going to sell my travel trailer and truck and go to a truck/truck camper setup. I wanted a Host, and there just aren't that many places that are dealers for Host...and I'm in Washington, and there is only 1 in WA and they were kind of uncomfortable to deal with. I reached out to Kent at CTA, and he made me a much better deal and was so so willing to answer all of my questions. We picked our camper up just about 2 weeks ago now, and the pickup was just perfect and seamless. We're experienced campers as far as our first "starter" travel trailer went, but totally new to truck campers and Host. Walked us through all the things, the unit was ready to go, and he had the Fast Guns we needed and helped us get it all rigged to take home. I deal with a ton of companies, I'm in construction, and CTA was just SO easy to deal with. Being able to totally trust your vendor is invaluable, and I was able to completely trust CTA. Custom truck installed a receiver hitch and brake controller on my Palisade. The install and product is much better than what we had gotten with U-haul with our last vehicle. Since the install, the brake controller unit malfunctioned randomly and they replaced with a new unit, no charge. Recently we needed our ball replaced on the weight distribution hitch as we couldn't get it off and they were able to do this for us on a whim, no charge. Overall, these guys are super easy to work with, will get the job done, and go above and beyond. read more

Had nerf bars put on my truck. Took and hour for the removal of my old bars and install of new. They charged me for 2 hours of labor. I called upon arriving home and reviewing the invoice. They said they had two guys working on it hence, two hours. The invoice does not state that it is per person, just by the hour. Bogus and took advantage of a 70 yr young women. Buyers, beware. I purchased a high end suspension and Leer shell. I think you would be fine with the shell process but the suspension process left a lot to be desired. Including them not telling me I should come back after 500 to 1000 miles, dropping the car off early in the morning not to have it done, alignment out of whack, etc. it makes it difficult to communicate with them because when you call, there is a super long holding process. In the future, I'll be looking at other alternatives. read more

I bought a Leer cover for my Toyota Tacoma. It works great. However, living in Tahoe the cold weather often froze the lever on the supports thus breaking and becoming unusable. This happened twice. I searched and searched on-line for a set of 'step bars' for my 97 Ford F-350 Crew Cab pickup. I finally found a set that touted NO drilling, and easy installation with included hardware. Well, guess what... First tool listed in the instruction sheet was a 7/16 drill bit. Huh? Ok, I have that. But when I went to install the very first mount, the hole ON that mount did not fit the spring shackle bolt that was the main support in the front. Dead in the water. Enter Custom Truck Accessories. I stopped in and asked if they could install my bars. No problem. I made an appointment for the next day. I brought my truck in, along with my still-in-the-box bars, and told it would be about an hour or so. I took off for a walk. When I came back, the project was 'not quite done' yet, but it would be shortly. Turns out, more drilling was required, along with a bit of fabrication to make this set of bars fit. Apparently this is not unusual. But, in the end, they did a professional job and I'm thrilled with the outcome. The guys who run this establishment are friendly and professional. They also have a sense of humor, which helps when things don't go swimmingly... I would come back to this business in a heartbeat. And yes, I WILL tell my friends (like I am here!). A couple years ago I purchased and had them install a new state-of-the-art brake controller for pulling our travel trailer, and they did the same professional job with that as well. I purchased a fully equipped Snug Top shell for my Tundra a little over a year ago. At that time Dan and Andy took great care of me from the order to the install. I sold the Tundra and now need Running Boards for my Ram 2500. The part was in stock and I made an appointment for the following day to have them installed. Spent over $8,000 on accessories here for our 2018 Chevy Colorado. Bought the retractable running boards. Asked the sales tech, Mitch, if there are problems with the running boards malfunctioning due to road dirt. Was told, "No. Issues only occur with trucks working in deep snow. Ice gets in the mechanism and they will not work." Bought them and now regret it. One sales tech here is the rudest, condescending, jerk! He talks down to customers and heaven forbid he need to look up from the computer screen to even look at you when he is talking to you. If you are a woman, a senior, or a handicapped person looking for guidance on something they sell, FORGET IT! This sales tech will not go out of his way to explain anything to you.
