I needed a gasket/seal replaced on a Leer Camper shell. Although "Custom Tops" is open whenever I drive buy, I've never seen other customers there. I was told the camper repairman only works on Monday, I made an appointment and brought in my truck. The man explained a couple of types of tape could be used, I told him not to cut corners and that I wanted the job done right. Needless to say the new gasket was installed improperly. The gasket was installed crooked, it was torn, and leaked. By my own choosing, I had the camper/seal replaced correctly by another business in Grass Valley. I have purchased Leer caps for my truck purchases over the past 13 yrs from Custom Tops. Each time the sales assistance and installation has been exceptional - Russ and the crew are top notch. Couple this with the better than competitive pricing and it is a win-win. Today I just returned from having a LEER 100XQ installed on my new truck purchase. The wait time for completion was less than an hour, and the install was professionally flawless. This by far is consistantly one of the worst businesses in customer service alone. It's worth my travel and time to go to other surrounding leer locations instead of dealing with this establishment. I called on a monday and asked for a replacement lock for my camper shell. I was told that they would be open until 5 on Thursday. (The day I stated I would be by to purchase the lock). Well, they were closed by 3:50pm when I came by. I called and left a message stating that I was there within the time frame that I was told they would be open. I recieved a return call the next day from Ryan apologizing as he needed to close early to address picking up a family member. The next day I showed back up, I now dealt with Russ, who by far was a stressful person to do a simple purchase of the lock assembly. I called again a week later to ask to buy a second set of keys. ($7 + tax each by the way). So talking to Russ again, he ordered 2 keys. He told me they would be in by Friday. I asked him what time would he be closing that friday. I was told 5pm. Well today is Friday. Learning from the last hectic situations, I called to confirm the keys were in fact in. Which they were. I told Russ I would be there at 4 pm to buy both keys. He told me that he was closing at 3:30 to go pick up a family member. I asked to then purchase the keys over the phone and he hide them before he leaves. He laughed and stated he wont do a credit card over the phone for $14. So.... I'm no longer able to tolerate the bullshit with this company. Dont deal with the hassle at Custom Tops. I called All seasons R.V. in yuba city and dealt with a very friendly and helpful person. I also explained my past encounters with Auburn. Avoid this business at all costs. Do not waste your time or money here, it will not be well spent. I made the mistake of buying a shell from them, and has been nothing but a headache. I don't understand how they are still in business. They are not at all concerned with doing a quality job. Top This in grass valley is worth the drive, they are excellent. Also ultra truck works in sac is a good place to buy a shell, Matt knows his stuff. Please don't make the same mistake I did and hope for the best with these guys. Popped in to this business like others who have reviewed this guy. I like to keep my money local and hope that others do the same. Anyway I explained what I was looking for and before I got any specific info out he rudely interrupted me and told me what I was looking for doesn't exist. So I went on to explain the exact makes and models that worked for my application (including his main brand) and again he interrupted and started getting loud about it.
