Edit: The company wanted me to edit to tell the truth, so I will. I was being nicer before, but the truth is worse! So be it. Custom Water Refining installed my water softener unit as part of a package with my builder, Tri-Pointe. I started to have issues with the unit again recently and called Terry. He immediately argued with me about his warranty before even getting into the issue, saying that that the builders don't pay him well, so he only offers a one-year warranty for a product that he would normally give a 5-year warranty for if not through the builder. This means this company purposely gives you inferior service depending how you buy their products. They would love for me to be another spoiled Yelp brat with a baseless review, but the fact is that they do bad business and don't even keep accurate records. Terry claims he has never serviced my unit, when in fact he came out twice during the first year due to issues with poor performance. Tri-pointe also paid for another company to come out to service the unit since Terry hadn't been successful in fixing the issue. I only contacted Terry again upon the builder's recommendation when the unit finally had its fatal flaw since he was the original installer. This company is a huge disappointment. They use below quality products, do below quality installation with builders, and then do everything they can to get out of it when something goes wrong. They don't offer any other solutions than to charge you more than you paid originally. To anyone who hires this company, good luck with their despicable business practices. read more

Super incredible job by Terry. He installed a reverse osmosis filter and faucet in my kitchen. Now my coffee doesn't taste like ceiling tiles anymore. It only took Terry about 45 minutes and the process was minimally invasive. No mess either. I thought the installation was going to be a big loud mess but I could not have been more wrong. We just moved to Vegas and found out that a water softener and a reverse osmosis water filter are two musts. I called and shopped around finding Custom Water Refining through a sticker on the water softener tank of my buddy's home. I spoke to Terry and he was fantastic to speak with and scheduled a time for an estimate. He arrived on time and after getting the estimate, I already knew his price was very competitive having received two other estimates and when I told him I'd like to schedule the install he surprised me by saying "I can do it now!" I was literally shocked, mouth open and dumbfounded. So I hurriedly said "Yes" before he changed his mind. Terry got to work and was finished in under 2 hours. Post install he was very patient to explain how the softener and the water filter worked. He answered all our questions and assured me that if I have any questions to call him and he'll walk me through any issues. I was so impressed with Terry's service I recommended him to two of my neighbors who hired him right on the spot. I will be recommending him to all my other friends and you should as well. read more

We have been customers for almost a year and since we are moving out of state we had to discontinue service but I recommend custom water refining to anyone looking for affordable water softening service. There is a little laps in communication but they are really salt of the earth people and will get things sorted. I would recommend they implement some sort of schedule so that the customer can know when the technicians are coming out since it can happen right in the middle of a shower and you lose your water for a few minutes... But all in all it is a valuable service run by good people. read more

UPDATED: Surprise, surprise, no contact from Terry to fix the system. I don't know why this review doesn't show my location as Vegas, but I am. Again, I recommend NOT going with this company! Bought my water softener system from Terry and the "family-owned" Custom Water Refining Inc several years ago for my new construction home. At the time I thought it was a great deal compared with some of the more expensive, nationally recognized brands I wanted to use. I was away for work when the installation occurred but my wife assured me everything went smoothly. Fast forward to last year and the system stopped functioning properly. I was once again away for work but my wife was constantly calling Terry (at least once every week or so) to try and get the issue resolved since the unit was still under warranty. Just this week we finally made contact with Terry and I spoke to him myself. I explained the situation and that I'd had another company come look at the issue because we could never make contact with him. He tried to tell me the unit was out of warranty and I explained that should be overlooked considering we could never contact him. Terry told me he'd look for the necessary part and would get back to me. I called Terry today to touch base after hearing nothing back yesterday only to be hung up on. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! Customers do not deserve to be treated such a way. The only reason I gave two stars here was the timeliness of the installation and the functioning of the unit until recently. I plan to stop by the business physically and if the situation isn't resolved I'll be changing it to one star and contacting the Las Vegas Better Business Bureau. I instead recommend contacting Serv-All Water Conditioning for your needs. They're courteous, quick, and willing to help you on issues. read more

I had my reverse osmosis and water softener system installed when I bought my home in 2007. Custom Water Refining was the installer, and they have continued to service it to this day. Whenever you choose, they come out to service the filters and make sure everything is running correctly. They don't try to sell you on something you don't need. Just low, fare prices. DO NOT USE! Owner is very nice BUT they are so unorganized and not reliable. Had to call them almost EVERY month to do their job and change tanks. Then I asked to cancel on a future date and they came out right away and took my tanks without me having a replacment ready which is very bad for the equipment we use in our plant. read more

We moved here from Michigan and Terry came to give us a price quote. While he was here we mentioned that we had plumbing companies giving us quotes to fix banging in the walls when we used the water and Terry listened and looked and found our water pressure was shut off. The plumbers wanted to tear open the walls. We have used Custom Water Refining for the past 4 years for water softener and reverse osmosis and have had excellent service as well as great pricing. read more

I purchased a water softening system, Fleck-5600 SXT, from Custom Water Refining, Inc. The unit is still under warranty. A service call by Terry Lawrence in early January 2017 found that there was a defective controller. He said he had a replacement back at the office and that he would return to replace it. After not hearing from him in over a week, I called Terry who said that he had the part and would like to schedule an appointment. I told Terry that I was going on vacation the following day and wouldn't return until February 6th. He said that he could come out that evening; still, he never showed up that evening. Arriving home as scheduled I waited a full week prior to calling Terry on Monday February 13. Terry then made an appointment for Wednesday February 15th in the evening between 5 and 7 PM. This resulted in a no show by Terry, no call to adjust the appointment time. This is bad business. I also paid for a service which they refuse to honor. read more
