I discovered this shop after dealing with a bunch of barbershops and barbers who aren't organized, don't keep their appointments, or mess up your haircut trying to give you what they want instead of what you want. Called in 5 hours earlier to book an appointment to ensure I had a chair open. I asked over the phone if a chair would be available for me because I was on my lunch break and Jordan said he "got me." Upon pulling up to the shop, Jordan had 3 cuts he said were in front of me. He then said he wouldn't be doing my cut anymore since he was so backed up and someone else would do my cut. When he asked his co-worker to help me he said he had 1 cut still in front of me and there was someone in his chair! I'm very particular about my son's haircuts and details thus paying for quality work isn't cheap; therefore, I was ready to move on from my old barber as their quality was going down hill. I was directed towards Jimmy by word of mouth and reviews I've read and I couldn't been more satisfied. Jimmy was very receptive to my demands and listened intently and also gave my son his personal suggestions that would make his cut look the best it can. He was very meticulous and paid the utmost attention to detail, which like mentioned above, is a big factor for me when looking for a barber. I've never met anyone so attentive and observant. I was looking for a new barber in the area and my friend referred me to P-Nut. I showed him a couple of pictures and he knew exactly how to cater the style to my head. He took his time with me trying to make the cut perfect which I appreciated. Beyond that, I loved the atmosphere of the place. It was just a happy place, people laughing and cracking jokes with each other. P-Nut was the DJ during the session. Horrible and beyond unprofessional. If you have a child under the age of 5 and is uncomfortable with haircuts this place is very hostile and makes you feel it in every way. The first occasion here was with my 2 year old son at the time getting his first hair cut. My son was frightened and scared since he had no clue what was going on so he did squirm and cry the whole time (not to mention getting cut a few times). Fast forward to 7 months later. My son has been consistently getting hair cuts elsewhere with ease and decided to give this place a try again. Worst mistake ever. We walked in and the receptionist stated we'd be seen soon. We recognized Aari (the one that cut my son's hair last time) but was not acknowledged, what so ever. When the receptionist told her we were her client she straight out said NO and walked out of the shop. Beyond disgusting disgusting disgusting. Being in business myself, if she was uncomfortable cutting my son's hair again, she could have appropriately been like, "Hi you guys! Unfortunately from the last appointment I feel pretty uncomfortable cutting your son's hair, but someone else can gladly accommodate you." Nope. Just straight out walked out with attitude like I was dealing with my 3 year old. We waited there for another 10-15 minutes (totaling 45 wasted minutes of our time) and the receptionist finally told us no one can see us today. Even our first appointment we still had to wait an additional HOUR to be seen. Just beyond unprofessional and not a child friendly place by far. We ended up going to Family Cutz in Paramount and it was worth the drive completely (kiddie cars for the kids to play in while getting their hair cut, on time, and very professional friendly staff). Probably one of THE most expensive subpar haircuts that I e ever gotten. I paid $30 for a cut and a part. No wash and style..a cut which took off maybe 1/8" of hair and a simple part which turned into a disaster of a design. My hair was already VERY short so there wasn't much to cut anyway. I asked for a simple part and he pretty much did what he wanted and then asked me after the fact if he could do a little extra design. I said fine thinking he knew what he was doing. It was a mess. I had a shaded circle inside of a circle in my head. Not a part. At that point there's no point in complaining because there's no way to fix it. The shop itself was pretty clean and the barbers were dressed sharply (which is why I didn't give them 1 star) but it definitely doesn't warrant the overpriced "average at best" haircuts that they are offering. If you're not a regular you better make an appointment. Let me start off by saying I came here once before and had a good experience. I walked in, had like a half hour wait, got a good cut and left. The environment is everything you want from a black shop. That being said, they don't do too good of a job at taking care of new customers. I was gonna head to the spot I used to go to, but I remembered they were there and 3 minutes closer, so I called. They said it wasn't too bad right then but it could get crowed any moment. Fair enough. 5 minutes later I was there. Only 3 people waiting and 4 barbers going. When I walked in they almost got me right into a chair, but a young man had been waiting so I was after him. I had an hour 30 before work. I'd be fine. Nah. Over the course of my wait, 5 different people who walked in after me got into a chair. I texted a co worker and got my shift covered for half an hour, but I ended up walking out at an hour45. No one spoke to me after that first minute I walked thru the door. The spot is great. The cuts are fresh. But apparently you can't go without an appointment or 2+hours to wait. read more

My husband has been going to Cut & Style since it was Against the Grain and has been taking our son as well. We've had the pleasure of being cut by two of the barbers currently there, Chet and now, exclusively, Ari. I have to say... I NEVER thought a woman would cut my husbands hair, but she has such a skill and gentle touch. She cuts my hair (about one a month) and I often catch myself falling asleep! She is such a sweet and gentle spirit. I am comfortable conversing with her or just sitting and getting my hair cut. She also does an outstanding job on my sons hair! His cuts keep him the talk of the playground! Some of his friends have started getting designs cut into their heads too! I've recommended several friends and family members to Ari as well.
