I've only been here for the Super cluckin' Sunday twice and damn the sandwiches are so good. I've tried both honey mustard and bbq ranch. Personally, I am not a fan of bbq flavor but I gave it a try after reading about it from so many reviews. I must say bbq ranch wins! With the pickled hots, it tastes even better and spicier. It may seem slightly odd to have chicken sandwich early Sunday morning but its a good hangover cure spot after Saturday night adventures :P The line starts earlier than their opening time (10am). It may seem too long to wait for, but the line keeps moving and you are rewarded in the end :) Now I have to come back for their regular menu! read more

Cutty's is my go to weekend casual lunch spot. There's often a wait for seating but it is well worth it - especially with the added breadboard bakery options on the weekend. I've had quite a few options here - the weekend pork special, the turkey sandwich with the fried shallots, grilled cheese and tomato soup. All were delicious. I also loved the breadboard wacky cake and croissant cinnamon bun. Well-made, inexpensive food always makes me smile. A friend and I met at Cutty's for lunch. I had done the research, and was really excited to try their sandwiches. We both went for the Tuesday special: Spicy Pork Torta, with Carnitas, Spicy Mayo, Pickled Onions + Cilantro on a crispy Sesame Torta Roll. It was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the pickled onion and the mayo. They both added an unusual savory flavor to the sandwich. I believe it was under $8, too. I had the limeade to go with the sandwich. While I was eating, I kept on eyeing other customers' plates to see what they ordered, so I could prepare for my next outing. The space is small, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a table if you want to eat there; but for us, at 1 p.m., we didn't have to wait at all. Great food and usually great service however today I experienced something different. I called the store since there was no Apple Pay option online when I was trying to order (I've used Apple Pay many times at Cuttys online.) The women who answered the phone was so rude right from the start. I know some people have bad days but as a customer with a simple question, she was being so rude and sarcastic. She responded to my comments with so much attitude I didn't even bother asking her further questions. I figured out the Apple Pay issue by myself. It amazes me that anyone would give Cutty's a less than 5 star review. I just want to ask are they okay??? When I first heard of Cutty's I kept hearing rave things about it and I couldn't help but wonder "How good could a sandwich possibly be???" Needless to say I was not disappointed. I got the Roast Beef 1000 (Slow-roasted beef, crispy shallots, 1000 island, sharp cheddar, brioche), which I would highly recommend! The roast beef was so juicy and tender, and the cheddar cheese added a lovely sharp contrast to the tenderness of the beef. The crispy shallots added a nice crunch to the sandwich, and the brioche bread was fresh and perfectly toasted. My friend got the Ham and Pimento sandwich (Niman Ranch ham, pimento cheese spread, sweet pickles, baguette) which I got to sneak a bite out of and that one was delicious as well - had a great depth of flavor and the ham was super delicious. I've been here a couple of times since then and whether I've gotten the food via takeout or eaten in the establishment, it's always tasted delicious and it has never let me down once. The staff are always pleasant and sweet, and the food has always come out in a timely manner even when the store was busy. The space is clean and comfortable. After loving the Roast Beef 1000 months ago, the bf and I came here for lunch today deciding to venture out and try other things on the menu that must surely be, we assumed, at least as good. So we settled for a Spuckie (which Yelpers have been raving about), a Greens Bacon, a back-up Roast Beef 1000, and two limeades to wash it all down with. We each shared a half of each sandwich. This was the first time we'd ever sat inside. The place is small and sparse. It needs some art, or something on its walls. It was packed, but we managed to snag a table. The staff was nice, and it's nice to see them in the back cooking, so you know that everything is fresh. Our limeades were good but offensively small for the price of about $2. The bf started with the Spuckie and I with the Greens Bacon. Neither of us liked the greens bacon, and I will take partial responsibility for this. You see, my dyslexic tummy had turned the name "greens bacon" into "bacon with greens"--I had assumed, even after reading its description, that this would be like a twist on a BLT with Swiss chard. More bacon, less greens. No. This was a greens sandwich that happened to be garnished with bacon and spicy mayo. I liked the taste of the components of the sandwich, but not together. The greens were soggy, smoky, and fell out of the dripping sandwich immediately, which made it difficult to eat. The bacon was overcooked and also overly smoky. The two tastes made my mouth sad, and my heart even sadder for the beautiful bread that the fillings ruined. The bf liked the Spuckie. I did not. Why? The carrot-olive salad. I normally hate olives, but sometimes in things like tapanade, I can handle them. This was not one of those times. I liked everything else about the sandwich: the meats, the cheese, the bread. But the carrot-olive salad ruined it for me. Luckily, we had our old reliable, delicious Roast Beef 1000. It was even better than I remembered it. It was about $30 for 3 sandwiches and two drinks--definitely high. And I wasn't thrilled to have wasted most of that on sandwiches I didn't like. In fairness, that wasn't Cutty's fault. Now that I've learned my lesson, I'll stick with the roast beef and have a good time but I gotta dock it down a star, for not everything was as delicious. read more

I try to get to Cuttys once a year while on my TV Foodie Road trips through Boston. I always forget how delicious and well made their sandwiches are. People come here mostly for 2 sandwiches the Pork Rabe(only on Sat) and the Roast Beef 1000. It's called that because of the thousand island dressing and 1000 crispy shallots on the sandwich. It's delicious I always get one Roast beef and then one I've never tried. Today that was the Spukie. Italian meats, mozz and carrot olive salad. I hate olives more then terrorists ok not more then terrorists but a lot. I asked if I could have it without the salad and was told all the could do was scrape it off since they make the sandwiches in the morning. They did that but said there might be residual olive taste, which there was. They added pickled onions and pickled hots which were a great topping to the sandwich. They have 2 sizes I got the half which is still huge. I suggest going to Cuttys with a friend and split those 2 sandwiches and should do ya right. Ps the sandwiches are so well made we ate the in the car while driving home and did not make any mess at all. read more

I feel like I've only been writing 5 star reviews, but I don't care. This place is fantastic. I got the roast beef 1000, which is an everyday menu item. My fiance ordered the pork with rabe, a Saturday-only item. The roast beef...Oh my god. The tastiest, most tender beef I've ever had. It comes on a brioche roll with 1000 island dressing (homemade). I'm pretty sure everything in this place is homemade. My fiance's pork sandwich was also incredible. I only had a bite, but it was a tasty bite. I had an Arnold Palmer (half-lemonade, half-iced tea), also wonderful. There is not a whole lot of seating. We didn't have a problem, but I could definitely see showing up and not having a place to sit. I think that the reason I give so many 5 star reviews is that stuff like limited seating, etc doesn't bother me. It is what it is. However, one thing it definitely is, is a great meal! The thing I miss most about living in Brookline Village -- hands down. I make a point to bring people here when they're visiting from out of town. The food just speaks for itself. The sandwiches are, of course, the star of the show. My group usually buy a few and share, just to get the glory of it all. I've yet to come for Super Cluckin' Sunday, but I'm planning on it! They also have amazing sideline items: pastries and wacky cake from Breadboard Bakery, spent grain crackers, pimento cheese spread, etc. The space is small and lines can form, but it's worth the short wait. read more

This review is only based on their "Super Cluckin Sunday" chicken sandwiches. I've tried to go twice before but the line was way too long. It seems like the third time was a charm as there was no line today! I ordered one of each kind of sandwich and a bag of chips. The sandwiches definitely live up to the hype! My favorite was the BBQ ranch but they were both really good. I liked how the chicken wasn't too thick and the bread was perfectly toasted. The chips were really tasty as well. I came for their super cluckin Sunday special. After standing in line for 30 minutes, I was a pretty disappointed with what I received. The chicken sandwich is a pretty typical. They (I tried both flavors) were good, but not the best I've ever had. I think they would be much better hot, but of course they wouldn't be able to make them in so much quantity. I also got their chips and hand pie. Their chips were severely underwhelming. For $2.50, the bag is tiny and the chips are very very thin. I think you get more from a 99 cent bag of Lays. The hand pie was decent and a good contrast to the chicken sandwich. To be honest, the other options on their menu look much better than their Sunday special, so I'm looking forward to dropping by again to try those out! Mmmm, Cutty's. I love the fennel and peanut salad, and no matter how hard I try, I just can't recreate it at home. If I want a little more protein, I'll get some turkey or roast beef on top. Always house vinaigrette. Other great options: ham pimento sandwich (toasted) and the roast beef 1000. The brown sugar cookies make a great afternoon treat. Their breakfast sandwiches are tasty too. I love that I can order online on the way to work, and the sandwich will be ready when I get there. On Fridays, treat yourself to the kolaches from Breadboard Bakery. So delicious! I love Cutty's. Their sandwiches are consistently delicious and I love the space since they remodeled as well. I have a soft spot because I have a lot of good memories involving their sandwiches, but objectively they are one of the best options for a sandwich in Boston. My one pet peeve is their hours - they close pretty early, so I usually try to go on the weekend, but they stop serving breakfast (my favorite is the chorizo sandwich) at 10:30, which is honestly too early for me on Saturday :( But anyway, you should definitely go grab a sandwich now that you've spent so much time reading this review! I came awhile back for their chicken sandwich and couldn't remember much about it, so fast foward a few years later, I came on another Sunday to once again try their famous chicken sandwich. My friend arrived first and there was already a line when she arrived at 10am. We waited about 45-50 minutes altogether. We ordered Ranch BBQ chicken sandwiches and hand pies (apple caramel was the flavor of the day), and received our order in what must have been less than 2 minutes. The chicken is fried beforehand and the pies are also all made beforehand, so assembling the sandwich was very quick. The drawback to that is that everything was cold. Although the food was fresh, it would have tasted much better had the chicken and pies been warm. It was a decent sandwich, but for the price and the long wait, I won't be returning solely for the chicken sandwich. The pie was good. I didn't taste much caramel, but it wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. The other sandwiches look delicious and based on the Yelp reviews, I'd return to try other items on a weekday if ever in the area. P.S. The line was even longer by the time we left the restaurant, so chances are you'll always have to wait if coming on a Sunday. read more

Been coming here since it opened. The sandwiches are consistently good. I'm pretty sure I had them all. However my go to sandwiches are the Roast Beef 1000 or the Turkey 1000. Over the last 6-9 months, I have noticed that these two sandwiches have become noticeably smaller! It is no longer enough food for lunch. Bring back the original size and raise the price. Baristas refer to decaf, non-fat (or skim milk) lattes as Why Bother? What's the point of getting something if you're going to deny yourself the whole point of getting that thing. That's how I feel about meals without meat. Well, Cutty is making me eat my words and my, my, those words have never been so delicious. I ordered a sauteed rabe, spicy provolone with tomato jam sandwich. No meat in sight and IT WAS HEAVENLY. The sandwich was hearty, filling, and absolutely incredible. The bread was pressed like a panini so the sandwhich was crispy and warm and with a thick layer of gooey melted cheese. The rabe was sweet and tender. The spicy provolone wasn't spicy at all (I would have been sad, but the sandwich was soooo good that I didn't need the extra kick). The tomato jam added a beautiful sweet fruitiness that played nicely with the rabe. The crispy warm bread gave the sandwich the texture and character. A refreshing tart limeade was the perfect complement to this sandwich. What a great lunch! read more

Is this what happens when a restaurant has been Fieri'd? I leave you alone for a year and change, to return to long lines, prices inflated by nearly 20%, and significantly less stuffed, satisfying sandwiches. I look at the old Serious Eats posts and am reminded of your 4 dollar spuckie halves, appearing much fuller than what I hold in front of me. When I first heard about Cutty's, my eating partner and I excitedly hit it up, and went back in rapid succession to cover the rest of the menu, plus the daily specials, then to try the breakfast options too. After that, we cooled down abit, though occasionally stopped by if convenient. I had been wanting to introduce my new beau to this place for some time, and finally just sent him there and told him to get whatever he wanted. I'm greeted by the Greens and Shallot Sandwich, the special of the day (The Cubano), and half an eggplant spuckie (!!!). We dug into the cubano first, which did not disappoint, though it seemed a little insubstantial, it was amazingly well balanced (hence the star on the review). All the flavors paired nicely, and the bread did not overwhelm the rest of the ingredients. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there, like, into the earth, which was how the Greens and Shallots sandwich resembled, in bad way. I would say it was understuffed, if the stuff in question tasted good, but it didn't. The saffron sauce was also not so great, nor was the bread. What happened? The eggplant spuckie fared the worst, each of us took a bite and figured the garbage would be a better receptacle than our mouths. The paper thin eggplant, slivers of fresh mozz, and olive carrot salad came to about a quarter inch, again all was overwhelmed by the bread. I'll go back at some point, try a few of the other sandwiches I fondly remembered, and will probably add or dock a star accordingly at that point. read more

So after all the hype of this super cluckin Sunday I heard about I was highly disappointed. Went there around 1 o'clock on Sunday and there was a small line... Maybe 4-5 people and a whole hell of a lot of greasy chicken sandwiches already made laying under a heat lamp. The price which they don't tell you about anywhere online is about $12 per sandwich... $12 dollars for a bun, chicken breast, lettuce and and some onions. Oh do you want hots? That will be 85 cents extra and they'll squirt some sriracha on it and then wrap it up. And don't let that pretty little photo they tweet out and Instagram. Picture the bread fully engulfing the chicken and about an inch and a half thickness. I love a good chicken sandwich... Coolidge corner Clubhouse which is right down the road has one of the best and for 12 bucks you get a mountain of fries and an atmosphere to eat it in. Shake shacks new chick'n shack is $6.29 and you can order it 7 days a week. (And may I add it's delicious) Do yourself a favor. If you plan on going to super cluckin Sunday don't get too excited. read more

Super Cluckin' Sunday is a taste of southern heaven! I grew up in the south and have been looking for comparable fried chicken in Boston. The fried chicken sandwiches here satisfy my cravings. Though the sandwich was $12, which is pricey but worth it if you want a good fried chicken sandwich. Last time I waited in line, it was ~45 minutes. Thank you, Cutty's, for finally bringing excellent food to Brookline Village. The guys who opened this used to work at America's Test Kitchen and I think that same commitment to making things taste really, really good shines through here. The quality of the ingredients is really top notch - the bread is always fantastic, the meats are incredible and the veggies fresh. My favorite thing here, which is surprising since I LOVE sandwich meat, is the vegetarian spuckie. The texture of the eggplant is the perfect foil to the carrot olive tapenade and while the meats are AWESOME, I don't think it's as balanced with the tapenade as the eggplant is. They also ask you if you'd like the sandwich pressed, the correct answer is no. Heating it takes away from the texture of their house mozzarella. The roast beef, which has been blogged, shouted, and raved about meets all the hype. I'm convinced after eating it that i would eat thousand island dressing + fried shallots on cardboard, but the brioche and the beef are way better than that. I wish they made this in a half portion also because my ideal meal here would be half a veggie spuckie, half a roast beef sandwich, limeade, and a brown sugar cookie. Dare to dream. read more

YES. I came with two friends for their once-a-month Sunday Super Cluckin' Chicken Sandwich, and wow, best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life. The fried chicken cutlet was so tender, they must have soaked it in buttermilk for a decade. The outside had just enough crunch, too, and the flavor was just right, not too overwhelming, and not too oily, either. The bread was butter-grilled to a great crispiness, and the sauce had just the right amount of sweet to offset the saltiness of the chicken. Worth the wait. Which needs it's own section. There IS a line. a LONG line, ever since the word got out about their Sunday sandwich day. So either get there early (11AM) or be ready to wait about 30-45 minutes if you get there after 12. Lastly, they use great quality ingredients: meats from Niman Ranch, local sourcing for the most part for other ingredients - awesome!! My friend H raved about this place. I told her not to because I didn't want to get this place overhyped. I was skeptical and was hoping to be wowed.. and i thought maybe I would be. The interior is super cute and I love the idea of pork everything. The girl at the front was VERY nice and helpful. BUT.. the Sandwich. Gah, I got the Pork Fennel. I loved the sesame roll, but the whole time, I felt like I was eating this textureless, mushy, greasy, pork thing. It was "slow-cooked pork" but it was so.. mealy. and greasy. The bits of pickled fennel was good but there was no where enough to offset the pork, and it wasn't flavorful enough... and yeah. I just wanted some pepperoncinis or jalapenos or SOMETHING. The roast beef on the other hand is OVERly salty/cheesy.. and heavy. I liked my friend's egg salad sandwich. the kick of the cilantro and radish was pretty good. but for $9, I expect my sandwich to be amazing. Not a hand-sized bundle of mush. Warning: Cutty's sandwiches are HIGHLY addicting!! My boss introduced me to Cutty's by convincing me to split half of her sandwich with her. Luckily for both of us we work about 2 minutes away from there. It was the heavenly Greens Bacon sandwich, and after having it I couldn't get it out of my mind! Literally, I was dreaming about this sandwich. So simple, but so amazing. After a few months of a wonderful love affair with the greens bacon, I decided to try the roast beef 1000, even though I'm a little iffy on roast beef. OH MY GOD. greens bacon who? I am currently in the middle of a roast beef affair, and honestly have such a dilemma when deciding what to get I miss the greens bacon, but can't seem to pull myself away from the roast beef! That's all I've managed to try so far. Hoping soon to go in on a Saturday to try the pork rabe sandwich. Only downside is their hours, the close at 3 pm and aren't open Sundays (which is a bummer for me because I work every Sunday and evenings).
