I really like Cutty's, okay. Twice I have been delighted by the Spukie. The sandwich just melted in my mouth. Once, I had the BLTJ, which was referred to as the Tiajuana when I ordered it. It was very good. And, I was in a meeting when I was eating it, so I had to keep all my food joy in. The portions are sized to keep us healthy. Excellent quality sandwiches. Better call ahead because this place gets really busy around lunch time. Limited hours can make it hard to get those oh so tasty roast beef 1000's, but totally worth the planning ahead. Smaller sandwich sizes so not always the best if you're super hungry but always worth the trip. In pure brookline fashion, a tad overpriced and you really pay for the location than the food. Plenty of spots to sit indoors, friendly service and online ordering makes everything really easy. Street parking only so you're better off walking. Okay, so this was the last stop on a recent Boston trip. I personally think Guy is a Triple D-Bag so when my girlfriend said she saw this place on Diners Drive-In's and Dives I immediately thought hell no! But Cutty's is doing something very right! Let me start off by saying this place is not a Diner or a Drive In nor a Dive...it has a cute simple charm about it. We walked in...let me rephrase....once the line continued to move (see we were outside waiting for the line to move to actually get in) so once we were in we immediately noticed the chalk board (to the far right) listing where all the ingredients come from...that's the moment I realized this place is for real and they really care where their product is coming from! We get to the front of the line and order a Spuckie and a Roast Beef 1000. I order a coffee for my drink (George Howell Coffee...Acton, Massachusetts) and my girlfriend orders a lemonade (not the limeade that was mentioned in other reviews) The Spuckie we ordered as a panini. It reminded me a lot of a Muffeletta I get from a (NJ) local food truck only panini'fied and the tapenade contained more carrot along with the olive. It was very very good! The Roast Beef 1000 is maybe the best R/B sandwich I've ever had. The crispy shallots and amazingly soft onion roll seal the deal. My only gripe would be that for the price maybe they could put more roast beef and cheese on the sandwich....but it is amazing! My only regrets with coming to Cutty's is I didn't buy a shirt and we didn't come on a Saturday (for the Roast Pork) or a Sunday (for the Fried Chicken)! read more

After looking for places to go to in Boston that were on FlavortownUSA.com, I noticed Cutty's was on the list -- filmed, but not yet aired. I decided to check it out, and I'm pretty glad I did. While the Triple D episode with this place in it has yet to air, I assume the Spuckie and/or the roast beef 1000 will be on the show. After seeing that some people called the roast beef 1000 the best roast beef sandwich ever made, I got that. For about $9, you get a roast beef sandwich on a hamburger-sized bun, with crispy shallots, and thousand island dressing sauce. I'm pretty sure there's something else that I'm forgetting, but that really doesn't matter... what DOES matter is the taste, and it tasted really good. The bread had a nice crust and had a just-baked taste. The crispy shallots added even more flavor depth, and the thousand island dressing -- which I'm fairly certain is house-made -- was also really fantastic. The only gripe I really have with the roast beef 1000, if you can even call it a gripe, is that the roast beef was cold. I'm certain this is just how the sandwich is supposed to be, but I'd've just preferred it a little warmed up. Regardless, it was a fantastic sandwich. Best roast beef sandwich ever? I'm not too sure, but it's still worthy of an order. I also had a tasting of the tomato soup ... it's great. If you like tomato soup, and ESPECIALLY if you like creamy tomato soup, you'll enjoy this. I found it more palatable because it wasn't overly salted like a lot of tomato soups. Yum. Cutty's isn't the best joint in Boston, but it's good. Some of these reviews gave me incredibly high hopes -- which lead me to minor disappointment -- but it's still a place you should really consider visiting at least once. read more

Someone once told me that the best smell in the world is vanilla on freshly washed skin. They clearly haven't been to Cutty's, where whatever it is that they just baked filled up the room and the street with heavenly aroma. Guy Fieri and Food Network got something right in making this place a DDD joint. I ordered the Roast Beef 1000 and would order it again every day for the rest of my life. Hands down once of the greatest sandwiches ever created. The crispy onions and special mayo on a wonderfully soft bun make for a sandwich to remember. Finally made my way over here! It's a little far off, if you are coming from Cambridge, but it's nice to take a little adventure. The hubs had the eggplant spuckie, and I went with the roast beef. If you do find a pair of seats here, you're either: a) really patient; or b) really lucky. 'Cause the only downside to Cutty's is the limited seating. On a Saturday, you'll have the difficult choice between: the Pork fennel and the Pork rabe. This is like asking Hue Heffner which of his many girlfriends he'd like to sleep with right now. Difficult choice, but you really can't go wrong here! I'm not sure there's a single bad sandwich choice on the menu. And if you need something to wash down that delicious sandwich, the limeade is a pretty good choice. Cutty's also has homemade cookies and brownies. Not a lot of choices though. The homemade potato chips are pretty awful I should say. They taste really stale and are completely overcooked. I would just stick with a sandwich here to be honest. read more

I have a love affair with a good sandwich. And how can you not love a place where you can purchase tubs of lard for home use? The portion sizes are judicious but packed with quality locally sourced and flavorful ingredients. Pork rabe (slow roasted poke, sauteed broccoli rabe, sharp provolone, sesame seed roll) - The pork was juicy and tender. This is the first time I've ever had broccoli rabe on a sandwich but it was perfectly suited. The sandwich was a bit grease laden but I think that could be solved by holding the cheese on the next visit. Greens bacon (bacon, swiss chard, spicy mayo, ciabatta) - I consider the BLT the worlds perfect sandwich. Bacon and swiss chard was the perfect pair. Roast beef 1000 (slow roasted beef, crispy shallots, 1000 island, sharp cheddar, brioche) - This has been my favorite sandwich by far. The crispy shallots with a hit of salt and garlicky flavor was perfect on the heap of roast beef. I think these sandwiches are superior to what I've had at Flour thus far. read more

Saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and decided to try it. Great place for brunch or lunch. We've been here twice already and there's always a long line. The good thing is that they're very efficient and it's no more than 15 mins wait. We had the Roast Beef 1000 and the Pork Fennel (only available on Saturdays). The roast beef sandwich was nice and juicy with their thousand island sauce. It also has crispy shallots on it adding a nice crunch to the sandwich. The pork fennel sandwich was my favorite though. The slow-roasted pork was nice and tender and the pickled fennel adds a touch of acidity which really compliments the whole sandwich. Definitely would go to this place more often! read more

All of my adulation for Cutty's has already been said so I'll keep this brief: The sandwiches are, across, the board, phenomenal. My personal favorite is the greens bacon but I haven't yet tried the fabled Roast Beef 1000. Somehow I have convinced myself that the greens bacon, what with its bacon and spicy mayo, is the "healthier" option. You know, because of the greens. The counter staff are all friendly and efficient and the space itself is adorable. All of this being said, it's expensive for (albeit very delicious) sandwiches. The chips, cookies and limeade look good but they are also pricey and if I'm already paying $8 for a sandwich I will probably not double that tab for extras. One suggestion: although the knife and fork grilled cheese is outstanding it would be better non-open faced. Cutty's bread is great and if you are already eating a grilled cheese sandwich that necessitates a knife and fork you probably won't get bent out of shape over a few more carbs. read more

Grille Cheese, soup of the day, tap water, and even had some cookies to finish. It all worked. The dining room is rustic, ugh, to put it mildly. But it works. The staff was great. My sisters fiancé dragged me here, I'm not a follow of triple D and dont usually put much stock into such things but I'm always up for good food so I went. The restaurant itself is a tiny, only a few tables which we were lucky to acquire. The area has several display units packed full of delicious house made goodies to take home, such as their house made pickles and spreads. My friend had the roast beef 1000 as he was following the recommendation of triple D and he totally enjoyed it. It being Saturday I wanted to try the pork rabe sandwich but as our dinner that evening involved slow roasted pork I opted for the spuckie. The large sandwich was truly large and absolutely amazing from the bread to the meats to all the other house made goodies they packed into the sandwich. It is not your typical Italian hoagie but was by far one of the best sandwiches I have ever enjoyed. I do have to point out that the entire time we sat down to eat the line never stopped, the operation was a clockwork success with a group of dedicated sandwich gurus working non stop in back to ensure the flow of delicious hand made wonders never stopped. These people truly know what they are doing and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Boston make this one of their stops! read more

My first experience was the Pimento Ham sandwich. They pre-make these so make sure you ask for it to be warmed if that's what you want (which I'd say you want!) I also ask for extra pickles! My problem with Cutty's is that I'm addicted to it. It does not help that this lunch spot is next to my office. I have tried to break the addiction and not associate with "them" but then they say stuff like, "New! Chicago Hot Dog Sandwich" or "last Cluckin' Sunday until September!" I have realized I'm hooked and I'm ok with that. Everything I have eaten from Cutty's was spot on, and I've eaten a lot of it. If I had to make some suggestions the Super Cluckin Sunday was the best thing I've had, followed by the Pork Torta (it's a special), and Cutty's breakfast sandwich with swiss chard. I have practically tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed yet. Stupidly waited until today to visit Cutty's for the first time. Why did I stupidly deny myself a treck out to Brookline Village for honestly the best lunch I've had in many moons. Roast Beef 1000 is beyond perfect. Great fillings and bread. The layers of flavor and texture are like no other sandwiches. You you order chips, you don't get a bag of Lays, these are house fried potato chips - awesome. And make sure to save room for the brown sugar cookies. Place has great low key vibe entire wall to right of entry lists all local farms and purveyors all their products are sources through. There is no junk served here.
