Mixed plate: Ribs, brisket and pulled pork with 4 sides and sauce, then we added oven-roasted vegetables.

Great BBQ. We shared the mixed plate and it was fabulous. Brisket, ribs and pulled pork, all done to perfection. Juicy inside and perfect crunch outside, all imbued with that great smoky flavor. And it came with four sides and a wonderful sauce too! We took it to go and kinda cheated by adding oven-roasted veggies to make it more healthy (maybe?). Great meal!!! You have to look for Cuzzin Douggie's, tucked away at the back of the Farmers' Market, and it's only open Wednesday and Saturday, but it's definitely worth searchin' for! Go try it!!! (And Douggie and Dave keep you really well entertained while your food's gettin' ready)

    Location.

Excellent food. We get the brisket sandwiches everything we are in Brookings. A few times a year. The sides are great also.

I don't often order anything other than ice water with lemon, but this place has my NEW Favorite thing! The Train Master's Mule $9. Tito's vodka, ginger beer, soda water, freshly little mint with a wedge of lime. It's not listed, but it also had muttled raspberries, strawberry, a few blueberries and it was a welcome surprise. A unique and flavorful beverage. I ordered more than one :D Excellent service, pleasantly attentive, but not hovering. A casual local spot with freshly prepared eats and with a mixologist with skillz. Their daily special was also a hit! A grilled chicken, bbq ranch burger with cheese, bacon, onion rings and more. I will definitely come again when in area *thumbs up*

Their parking area is very small, but I found parking on the street no problem at all. I go in, and the place was pretty busy, but I was served right away. The place is clean, I like the train theme, and everybody was friendly. I decided to order the rail, Jumper burger, which came on a brioche bun. For a couple of extra bucks, I asked for garlic, tater tots. The meal was extremely good. The brioche bun was soft, the toppings played very well with the burger, and they were very generous with the garlic on the garlic tots. Also, the tots were tender and delicious. The only reason I'm taking off a half a star, is when I ordered, he didn't ask me how I wanted my burger. While the burger patty itself was extremely good, it was just a little bit overdone for my personal taste. Still very good, not worth sending back. The price was extremely reasonable, plus there's always the Oregon benefit of no sales tax. They have a decent sized menu, and I would stop in again the next time I'm in town. Overall, a very good experience. Thank you.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly... I thank you for tolerating my mediocre sarcasm! You were AWESOME…read more I've been coming to Pacific Sushi in Brookings for many years now and it never disappoints. Not only is it the best Sushi restaurant on the Northern California, Southern Oregon coast, it's the best restaurant, PERIOD! A Saturday night on a holiday weekend and there was a line, but LUCKY for me there was an opening at the Sushi Bar (Kelly reference). I sat down and order the house hot Saki and some edamame. Just the salted this time not the incredibly delicious Spicy Edamame. I'm like a broken record here and almost always order the same thing when I come. For the nigiri I had some ebi, hamachi and maguru. All fresh, all tasty, all perfect! I also appreciate the size and would call it my favorite. Comfortable but nice sized one-bite pieces. This is where I lost my mind. I don't believe I have been here without ordering the Redwood Roll, yet somehow out of my mouth came Rainbow Roll ‍ I forgot how good it was, and turned out to be pleasantly surprised. Kelly said she would try to read my mind next time so I wouldn't make the mistake. Coming here with my now twenty something kids and my awesome EX, has allowed me to take pretty much everything on the menu, and I promise, you will NEVER be disappointed. Right on the main drag in downtown Brookings, It has an undeniable charm on the outside but once inside, you're enveloped by the warmth of the dark wood and the "not bright" lighting that sets an immediate mood. The main dining room is cozy and the bar area even homier. And yes you can gamble if you want to. On a side note the bar and the drinks that flow out of it are divine! Their creativity shines here as well. The service is always exceptional, and tonight was no exception! If I say any more, Kelly will think I have a crush (maybe? ) Thank you very much for making my 5 Star meal just that much more enjoyable. Here for two more days and thinking I have no other option but to make Pacific Sushi my Monday destination. Cheers, JimG

He enjoyed the Redwood and Rogue rolls. Next time I *won't* order the Nature Nugget roll (which is listed with different ingredients on their website than their in-restaurant menu). It tasted like Lysol, presumably from the citrus ponzu? That was a tough swallow. I'd still return for that tofu, though. We were seated right away, arriving around 8pm on a Saturday night, with several other guests already seated. The lighting was low and decor was pleasing for a small town coastal sushi joint. The tomodachi was on point and our waitress was attentive and pleasant!

They make their own vodka and it's quite nice. Do yourself a favor and try any of the Superfly specials with it, they'll surprise you. They do have a food menu, but it's a martini bar first and restaurant second. The food was pretty decent, but the knife work, plating and ratios showed the experience behind the stove. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I could order fish tacos even though it wasn't on the menu. I love a good grilled fish taco so I went for it. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, the green and orange sauces were good if a little too mild, and the tortillas were the right style but not grilled quite enough. Also, there was very little cilantro or onion and almost no cabbage so they weren't as filling as I would have liked. My wife had the Katsu Chicken Salad. It arrived plated like it was deconstructed: the katsu on a bed of lettuce greens with very thick slices of vegetables around around the plate and the dressing on the side. It was odd, clunky and the katsu was under seasoned. The peanut dressing was divine though, my wife said she could have drank that like milk. There are some other dishes I'd like to try and their drinks were fantastic so we'll definitely try them again.

Best thin crust tavern style pizza we've had in a long time, in a very unexpected location…read more My wife, her mom, and I had just crossed the Oregon-California border into Oregon and used the nearby Dollar Tree in Brookings to be our end point on our fourth day Internet access had been spotty throughout our trip through Big Sur and then Redwood parks, so used a combination of Google maps and Yelp to find nearby businesses, just for fun. Fat Cat showed up with high ratings. None of us were particularly hungry, but their ratings for thin-crust pizza piqued my interest, so we adjusted our plans and walked in. There was one employee (Ian) working on this mid afternoon time on hump day, so had to get his attention while he was working in the back. You place and pay for your order first, so ordered a medium thin crust pineapple/ham ($15). Not knowing what to expect, I asked if the pizza crust could be made well done. We sat down at the fast food booths, and didn't have to wait long. When the pizza came, all of us knew immediately by the sight and smell that it was going to be great. The crust was the perfect thinness, and the toppings were generous. Our plan was to sample some of it and then take the rest back, but the three of us ended eating every single piece. It was that good. We learned a bit more about the business from Ian. It used to be a franchise pizza joint, but the owner decided to stop being a franchisee, and create a local name. 'Gato Gordo' was thrown out as an early name, with the final name being chosen as the winner from an early Christmas party secret Santa gift. The pizza crust is consistently made by a dough sheeter at a low thinness setting. This might be sacrilegious, but I think I prefer this way vs the hand tossed NY style that is way more prevalent (and way more expensive).

Specialty pies with the cat names (Meowgarita, Siamese Sriracha, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Philly Cheesesteak) are the way to go if you don't want a plain build-your-own. Staff were friendly and quick, food came out hot, and the cat decorations make the place feel local instead of generic. Easy stop if you're driving the coast. Would recommend and would come back.
