Dear future brides, grooms, and anyone lucky enough to be planning an event... Run. Don't walk. Book Black Trumpet Bistro. Seriously, stop reading reviews after this one and send Nick and Cheyenne an email. From the moment we met them, we knew we were in good hands. They were responsive, creative, incredibly organized, and somehow made us feel like our wedding was just as important to them as it was to us. Every crazy idea we threw their way was met with, "Let's make it happen." Exhibit A: butter candles. Yes...BUTTER CANDLES. We asked them to make homemade herbed butter candles nestled inside freshly baked focaccia bread, and instead of looking at us like we'd lost our minds, they got excited. The result? One of the biggest conversation pieces of the entire weekend. Guests were taking photos before they even took a bite. Then came dinner... How do we put this? We have officially been ruined for wedding food. Every single course was phenomenal. The braised short ribs practically melted, the butternut squash ravioli was out of this world, every plate arrived HOT (which every wedding guest knows is a miracle), and there was more than enough food for everyone. We lost count of how many people came up to us saying, "This is the best food I've ever had at a wedding." They weren't just being nice. They're still talking about it. And then there was the bar. Who knew a bar staff could become one of the highlights of a wedding? They were joyful, personable, lightning-fast, and somehow kept everyone's drinks full without anyone ever waiting. They even leaned into one of our most ridiculous ideas--using our branding iron to brand citrus garnishes for cocktails. It completely surprised our guests and made every drink feel like an experience. But here's what really proved how exceptional this team is. The day after our wedding, they catered our farewell dinner...on a cliff. No electricity. No running water. No kitchen. No problem. Somehow they pulled off another incredible meal without missing a beat. Then, because apparently they're superheroes, they gracefully accommodated two surprise guests we added at the last minute. Not only did everyone eat, but there was still plenty of food to go around. Now let's talk dessert. Their bakery partner deserves a standing ovation. Our wedding cake cost $30. Yes...thirty dollars. We honestly thought there had to be a catch. There wasn't. Our lemon cake layered with raspberry compote and the dreamiest Chantilly-style cream cheese frosting was one of the best cakes we've ever tasted. We would order it again in a heartbeat. And if you have even the slightest opportunity to serve the lemon cheesecake with macerated strawberries...DO IT. I've never seen so many people literally licking their plates clean at a wedding. People were scraping every last bite off their forks, asking where it came from, and going back for seconds before they disappeared. It was legendary. The miniature desserts? Equally dangerous. Fruit tarts. Tiramisu. Chocolate-covered strawberries. Chocolate-covered pretzels. Trifles. Every tray came back empty. At the end of the weekend, we realized something. Nick and Cheyenne didn't just cater our wedding. They elevated the entire experience. They anticipated needs before we even knew we had them. They solved problems before they became problems. They made us feel completely taken care of so we could actually be present and enjoy one of the biggest days of our lives. The food was extraordinary. The drinks were unforgettable. The service was flawless. The people are even better. If you're wondering whether Black Trumpet Bistro is worth it, let us save you the time. It's one of the best decisions you'll make for your wedding. We'll be talking about these meals for years. (And yes...we're still dreaming about those butter candles.)

    Steamed clams

Such a charming restaurant. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. Small but very intimate. The service was good and the food was delicious. What we ordered: -Steamed Clams (especially loved that came with it) -Baked Brie -Caprese Classico (my favorite) -Special: Cavatappi pasta with bacon and scallops. Also their house foccacia paired with balsamic was amazing. We also had their house tiramisu, not the best tiramisu I've had and probably worth skipping next time. Definitely a great restaurant option next time I'm in town.

Soup and Sandwich special. Half garden veggie sandwich with tomato soup

Cute spot near shops in Brookings, Oregon. The sandwich could have used a little more whipped ricotta but it was good. The soup was tasty and warm. Cute waitress with good service. Nice area to check out if you're passing through or a local.

We came to Black Trumpet Bistro for my birthday this year. We started with their Oysters Rockefeller, it was my first time trying them and they were to die for, just melt in your mouth deliciousness. Next the fellow ordered his usual steamer clams but these were no ordinary steamer clams the brine was so rich and flavorful and they came with a nice ciabatta. I ordered the scallops and pasta special, the scallops were succulent and juicy in a delicious sauce. I wasn't wild about the bread they serve on the side, but it was the only thing that wasn't absolutely top notch. I gotta tell you, I can't stop thinking about this meal, it was that good. The service, the atmosphere and the food, 5 stars all around. AND they gave me a piece of tiramisu by on accounta it was my birthday.

    Cioppino

This place is completely my vibe. Small bistro, not too loud, warm and genuine service. This place knows they have good food, but rather than be pretentious about it, they are excited to show you. Really excellent Cioppino and Beef Stroganoff. The cioppino was loaded with seafood and veg. Loved the bite of fennel. Not overly spiced so the flavor of the shrimp, scallops, and fish shine. The stroganoff is made with goat cheese which was a delightful change for us. Served with pappardelle pasta, tender steak, and mushrooms, this dish was exceptional. Jamie, our server, kept tabs on us and offered good advice on what to order. The only drawback was the bread. Not focaccia, perhaps a peasant bread? It was a nice flavor, but fell apart so easily that it was difficult to dip in the olive oil and impossible to dip in the Cioppino. It certainly didn't detract from the meal. But, personal preference, it was the only element of the meal that we did not finish. Dessert was a creme brûlée of the day (Brown Sugar Bourbon) that had delicious caramel notes. If we lived in the area, we certainly would be regulars.

We were driving through Brookings and stumbled upon this place for lunch. Cute little downtown area, we came in right when they were changing over to the dinner menu. Our waitress was so nice, he was so attentive and explained the menu great. We ordered the baked brie, chili lime shrimp and caprese salad to start. All were yummy, my only complaint was the shrimp could've used more flavor. For entrees we got the stroganoff and the scallop special. Honestly the scallop special was not what I was hoping for, it came out more like a salad versus scallops with sautéed spinach, so that was a bummer. But the scallops were tasty and cooked well. The stroganoff was really amazing I loved the goat cheese with it. Definitely a nice spot with decent food and great service.

I could barely decide between the Steak Gorgonzola or the French Dip. I'm celiac (undiagnosed, but it's true), and I was told the Au Jus was gluten free. So, I went for that on the GF bun. It was amazing! Also, the playlist was Great food. Great atmosphere. Great music.

    Portobello mushroom ravioli
    Maila M.

Amazing service! The space was quaint and romantic in mood -- definitely had that hole-in-the-wall/hidden gem kind of feel. Was recommended the lavender cocktail as they were out of the basil/mint spritz and was very happy w the suggestion. The steak was perfectly cooked and the serving was extremely generous. Same for the ravioli of the day which was portobello mushroom w brown butter. Would absolutely recommend for those passing through on the 101

Drove up from Klamath Ca for my birthday dinner, I was really hoping this place would be as amazing as the reviews since we had come a bit out of the way for a nice dinner. Honestly, blew us out of the water. We had the stuffed mushrooms to start that were so extremely flavorful but could still distinguish the mushroom taste from the stuffing. I had ordered the beat salad that was HUGE and was able to share between 3 people with some leftover. The bread was divine, the fresh herb flavor was amazing. I had the scallop special, was filling without being too much food. My aunt ordered the steak which again was HUGE and more than enough for 3 meals lol my boss ordered the prawns that she absolutely gushed over. The portions were more than enough and the flavors were perfect. I've been abstaining from drinking and it being my birthday I definitely partook in a couple drinks. The dirty martini was good, a little heavy on the brine but being a savory girl, it wasn't bad. The lavender bees knees martini however was perfect. I'm not huge on sweet drinks but the lemon and lavender paired perfectly with the sweetness without being overpowering. Everyone enjoyed their drinks so much. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff was phenomenal. Will definitely be going back

We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife…read moretraveling with me and we just didn't know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened! The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you'll ever find. The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I've had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I'm so glad that we did! The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It's bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn't pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they're pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it! My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn't taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it'll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can't wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos.

Party of three and went in to celebrate a birthday. We ordered: 1 oyster shooter, 1 crispy oyster appetizer, 1 patty melt, 1 cheeseburger basket, and 1 fish & chips. She walked away and we had to call her back to order drinks. The oyster shooter came out quickly. It was huge! We also saw another guest with a whole crab. We then realized that there was a seasonal crab menu. Our server never told us about the special menu. I would have easily ordered the whole crab or seafood tower (I forget what it's called but it had scallops, crab, sirloin, etc.). Our meals came out, patty melt, cheeseburger, fish and chips, and crispy oyster appetizer. Wait...what? Why didn't the crispy oyster come out with the shooter? Oh...because our server gave us a meal instead of the appetizer since it had a pile of French fries with it and we were charged for it! Overall, the meals were good. Our daughter enjoyed her patty melt. My crispy oysters and fish and chips were OK, nothing to write home about. Also, the server did not ask how I wanted my fish and chips since the menu offers them deep fried or grilled. They came deep fried. Either way is fine with me but if there is an option, the server should know that and ask. After our meals, we ordered two slices of brown butter cake and instead were served two pieces of mile high chocolate cake. At this point, it was useless to complain to the unattentive server. Probably won't go back.

We entered the fish shop / restaurant and it was busy, there's only about seven tables and a middle counter top area. No one greeted us and the tables were full so we just grabbed a seat at the middle counter top area. After five minutes I grabbed some menus, five minutes more and I went to the counter to order. After 5 minutes at the counter a woman asked if I was ordering food to go ( now this is my first contact with an employee in about 20 minutes of being there). I informed her that we were sitting at the counter and she said she would be over in a minute to take care of us. We ordered (finally) the fish and chips and a bowl of the clam chowder. Twenty minutes later a different woman dropped off the food and left; no conversation or can I get you anything else? The food was fresh and delicious, we throughly enjoyed it and when we were finished we waited another twenty minutes to pay; we finally went to the counter. On our way out the woman who took our order thanked us and said have a nice day. There were three or four woman working the counter and tables but the communication was just not there.
