Pretty great pharmacy experiences overall, with helpful, patient and efficient staff in general. I'm usually in and out with prescriptions in a few minutes. Not five stars because the pharmacy closes for lunch from 1:30-2, and they tend to send vaccine appointments to the secret hiding place and forget about them. I tried this pharmacy first after moving to IB. The afternoon that the prescriptions were sent from my doctor, I received a text from the pharmacy saying there was a problem with one of my prescriptions. No explanation as to what the problem was. Stopped by this evening on the way home to pick up nail supplies and as soon as I entered the door, a loud "Welcome In" was greeted by a very busy Sylvia who was the only check out cashier with a line of about 15 people. She just didn't skip a beat. She caught every customer coming in and going out with a welcome and have a great day greeting. And then she was so courteous, friendly, and professional at check out. The Pharmacy doesn't listen to Veteran patients. According to the Veterans Affairs website, The CVS here in IB is an in network Pharmacy and there should be no copay. But when you hand them your VA Medical ID card, they say they don't accept it. The VA website says I don't have to pay a copay but I got charged $5 because they used my tricare retired insurance and not VA. I also printed out the instructions for the pharmacist to ensure billing will go through and they didn't even want to see it. I feel like this place can do better. I attached photos of the VA website and the instruction sheets so maybe someone can take a second to follow up and make sure that Vets are getting the services they earned. You're probably losing a lot of business to local competitors because you don't know how to bill the VA. I won't come back if I am getting charged a copay and the VA says I shouldn't pay one. If I'm wrong, prove it. read more

When I look through the one star reviews, I can't help but notice that the people that give these low reviews tend to give low reviews to a large percentage of people they review. Seems like a newer building and it's very clean inside and out. Nice wide parking spaces (very important for the anti-door-ding crowd. Well stocked with easy to navigate aisles. Friendly helpful clerks. I also like how it's easy to see what is on sale with the labels they use. It's always a bonus when you can get inside, grab what you need, and check out using very little time. Because of course our time is valuable and we need it to do those other important tasks like surfing the web and responding to the wants and needs of all our electronic gadgets. So you see, in an indirect way, CVS helps us be the best tech gear servants we can be. They actually have items that I have searching for at our local CVS so I bought them here. We needed a gift card and they have hundreds of choices. We asked for help and received perfect customer service from an employee. The check-out was fast and very friendly. The sign with store hours on the outside reads 24 hours, one neon sign is lit up, one 3ft by 3ft lighted sign is lit up that reads 24 hours, and a large window sticker of at least 3 ft by 4ft reads 24 hours. Yet, a night employee has placed a printed out sign in the window, on more than one occasion that reads "Store Closed," including right now. It is 4:am - This is a huge issue. I'm sitting here having an allergic reaction, and need Benadryl! If the store refuses to open when advertised - what does corporate plan on doing about it? I don't know the store number, but the address is 800 Palm Ave, Imperial Beach California. This is NOT Okay!! I can see an employee in there. Are they just refusing to open up and do their job? This is just a heads up for those who are wanting to pick up their prescriptions through the drive thru at this specific location. Currently they are not allowing you to pick up your prescription through the drive thru (only for Covid-19 testing). I found this frustrating especially for those who want to limit exposure during this uncertain time. I'm sorry but the lines for getting your prescription can be long inside this particular CVS and to risk exposure when you have the option to use drive thru doesn't make sense to turn people away. For the time being, you can have your items shipped or use another CVS. read more

I rode my bicycle from Coronado Island to Imperial Beach and it was Hot, so I needed some Gatorade Stat! Found this CVS and they were able to help out. Even better, turns out they had these hard to find Gatorade Sport Bottles with the Orange Twist Top. I could not find them anywhere in LA or OC. They had them here!! They are the best! Locked my bike to the fence in front of the door because they do not have a bike rack. Other customers with bikes just walked them inside the store with no complaints. Used the bathroom--it was OK, better than the beach or park bathrooms, but not like home. Check out clerk was this angry old woman who when I offered my CVS card number for the purchase responded, "I don't need it, I will use the house card." Whatever...When I asked her for a receipt, she angrily pulled the whole register roll and gave me multiple receipts from the last 10 customers. Whatever...I was have such a nice day riding I was not going to let her bother me. I actually felt bad for her, having to work, when she should be traveling the world in retirement like everyone else does. LOL I hung out on the patio with my Gatorade overlooking the parking lot for about 20 minutes relaxing and talking to some locals. It was my first time in Imperial Beach so I was trying to get a sense of the town. The neighborhood looks like crap--parts of it scary when I was alone on my bike. But the people coming to the CVS looked okay. Some even talked with me--which is more than people in Los Angeles at a CVS would do. Good CVS to refuel and defuel on a ride from Coronado Island. Top notch professional staff. They are very patient in dealing with some demanding customers! I have gone to this store for several vaccinations. It makes for convenient, accessible health care with no appointment necessary. The team here works well together. They have a sense of humor. They seem to genuinely care about service; & helping people with insurance issues etc. I have seen some rude customers here for sure. People who start barking questions at the staff while they are processing prescriptions & helping other people who had already been waiting there. The barking customers effectively want "cuts" in line & instant gratification to whatever their issue is. This staff goes with the flow while honoring the patient customers. If you need to pick up a prescription make sure you look for pharmacy hours specifically and not store hours. For me, finding these hours was not easy. This is seriously the worst pharmacy I have ever interacted with. They are rude, condescending, and never answer their phone. They are extremely difficult to work with and have caused me so much trouble over simple prescriptions. This is hands down the best and largest CVS that I've been too. They have a much larger selection of health & beauty products in comparison to others, and they have many self-checkout registers, making it easy for you to head in and out to go enjoy the beach! If you're not a fan of self-checkout, you might not dig it, as it seems to be their main operations of checking out. I'm sure attendants are indeed available to assist you at a normal register upon request. It was my first time using the CVS Mobile app to pick up photos and Isaac was a big help! You'll get good service here. It's also cool that they're open 24 hours. read more

Egregious fail. Took my money, failed to deliver, offered no recourse. I had a flight to Honolulu on 21Nov. Hawaii requires a COVID test within 72hrs. of flying. CVS promise travel testing within 1-2 days for Hawaii for $139. I made the appointment for Wednesday afternoon calculating the earliest possible appointment time to give the most lead time to ensure results were back in time to be uploaded for my flight. The appointment application specifically categorized my test as being for a Hawaii flight so CVS knew the 72hr requirement. After administering the test, the nurse said "2-3 days." I said three days wouldn't work since I have to receive the results and upload them to Hawaii before flying; a turnaround of little bit less than 72hrs is required. She assured me I'd have them. Friday afternoon and there were still no results. I went to the pharmacy and got a shrug and a phone number. Suddenly CVS was saying "not our responsibility." The phone number was for an endless loop of voice machines that would eventually hang up on you after offering no information of value. There was never an option to speak to a human. Fortunately by Friday afternoon I realized that CVS was running a sham and shelled out another $190 for a test with Carbon Health near the San Diego airport. Carbon delivered the results the next morning and I made my flight. That's how pros do it. The CVS test results came in on Monday morning, five days after the test and two days after my flight. This was a criminal fail. They took my money for a travel test, failed to deliver within the known required timelines, and offered no recourse. Outright corporate theft. Their business model is to rip off customers. read more

I don't know if it's the new people they are hiring, or lack of effective training, but the service and experience has gone from friendly neighborhood store, to the same experience you get at the DMV. I came in and dropped the persciption form off at approx. 345pm the woman said it would be about an hour. I said I would come back and pick it up this evening and asked when the drive through closed she said when it is dark. I came back at 630pm and drive through was closed (NOT DARK) So I went inside waited in line and she said my prescriptions were not ready and that it would still be a bit. I am having lumbar sciatica issues walking and standing more than I have to is pretty uncomfortable right now. Once you wait in line to get your prescription 20-30 minutes cuz they are incredibly slow. To find out once again they lost your insurance information and ask you to go sit down so they can verify it which will take another 30-60 minutes, because they lost the money information.
