I hate taking medication. I'm too paranoid about side effects and that it only covers the symptoms instead of curing it. And lastly I'm too lazy and disorganized to take daily doses of medicine for any length of time. Hence, I dread going to pharmacies. Lately, circumstantial events had led me to my doctor who in turn, led me to CVS to pick up prescription meds (temporarily of course). I equate going to any pharmacy with going to the hospital. I shudder with fear just thinking about it. My first visit to CVS was surprisingly pleasant. Of course it took me about 20 mins to reach to the end of the store where the pharmacy is located. I had to do a little warm up browsing through the beauty section....you know....easing it in. The pharmacists were super nice, attentive and actually very hospitable. They walked me through the chargeback process of my medical insurance and explained the details of the medication. Wow. I was really impressed. It was actually painless and very clear. It didn't feel like a hospital. I saw normal people....healthy people, picking up meds just like me. I've been to other pharmacies in the past...and it wasn't always this pleasant or convenient. There were always problems, long lines, or crazy people making a scene. I'm a pretty simple person. I don't like drama or when things get complicated. Zero stars if I could. This is a big CVS and is quite a disappointment. I went there on 6.2.18 to get an Rx of generic Norco filled after a 2 1/2 hour dentist appt. We knew that as soon as the Novacaine wore off I would be in serious pain. After waiting in line to get to speak with a tech, she said they had no generic Norco whatsoever. WHAT????????? What good is a pharmacy that doesn't stock hydrocodone, one of the most commonly prescribed pain relievers on the planet, especially for post dental pain, prn????? This is ridiculous!!! WOW!! The pharmacist hung up on me!! I am currently in between health insurance but I have had a cold and cough for over a week. So I decided I was going to go down to the CVS Minute Clinic and be seen and had a question for the pharmacist about prescriptions. The last thing I wanted to do was go down to be seen and told I have a cold (which I already know) and then be told my prescription for antibiotics would be $900, that would be ridiculous. Seeing that I have never been without health insurance, I have no idea what the out of pocket cost is for any of these expenses. I called the pharmacy to ask what the typical cost is for someone with a cold/cough for antibiotics, even just a range or idea. She said, "they can cost anywhere from a few dollars to thousands, there is no range," and then hung up on me. I am still shocked that a pharmacist would hang up on a prospective patient, that is just inexcusable. Guess I will be going to RiteAid and Walgreens from now on.... read more

This review is only about their pharmacy. We started utilizing their pharmacy about a year ago and the experience has been at best "meh" and at worst "wait, did you really just say that to me?" We've had plenty of those moments where the doctor submitted the prescription and we head over only to be told "oh no, it hasn't been submitted." Which, maybe I could believe if not for the fact our doctors are pretty damn awesome and on top of things, and so using past as prologue with both, 99% of the time, I'm betting on the CVS pharmacy having screwed up. Recently I went to pick up epi-pens for my son. We won the allergy lottery, I know. The pharmacist there says "I don't think we have any, but I'll check" and then proceeds to launch into a conspiracy theory about how these allergies are all just made up by over sensitive parents. And while I know there are some people who do believe that, those are the same people who buy into insane conspiracy theories. Me, I'm going to trust the insight of my doctor as well as my own lived experience of watching my son go through an extreme reaction that required a 911 call. And I get it- there are idiots in the world and people who are uninformed. Such is life. But if you're working at a pharmacy, I'd hope you were a bit more informed about the medical world AND even if you weren't, decent humanity would beg of you to not be so careless and insensitive by making fun of people with the conditions that you're there to pick up medicine for. And so the place is just downright bad. And finally one day we woke up and said "Why the hell are we still giving them our business?" And so we switched pharmacies and are much happier! read more

Today, I visited the CVS at 8985 Venice Blvd in LA (near Culver City / Palms district) and they had 90% off Christmas items on Monday 12/30/14, but the same day, this CVS had only 50% off, but a much bigger selection. 50% off isn't too appealing for buying stuff you don't need, but 90% off entices you to buy stuff you really don't need or don't want, but it's hard to pass up pennies on the dollar priced bargains, especially candies and sweet food items on clearance closeout. read more

I am immunocompromised. My transplant team recommended a 4th Covid vaccine. Because I've had 3 Pfizer's, it was suggested I get the Moderna for the 4th dose. I called this CVS location and spoke to the male pharmacist on duty. I explained the situation and he assured me I would be able to receive the 4th shot of full dose Moderna. All I needed to do was inform the pharmacist that I was immunocompromised. I reiterated that this was my 4th dose & because I had previously taken the Pfizer brand I needed a full dose Moderna. Once again he assured me there would be no problem. I made an appointment, arrived early & when the Asian female pharmacist arrived, I confirmed it was a full dose of Moderna. It wasn't. She said I couldn't have it. When I explained I called & was informed otherwise, she said I misunderstood. No I didn't. I left & made an appointment elsewhere at a BETTER CVS. It appears the pharmacist who answered the phone is an idiot. He shouldn't be giving out answers if he does not know what he's talking about. This is just another issue in a long string of complaints we've had at this pharmacy with these pharmacists at this location. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHARMACY. THEY SHOULD ALL BE RE-EDUCATED OR FIRED! I will be filing a complaint with the local authorities. read more

This review is based on my negative experience at the pharmacy of this CVS location. I'm not expecting 100% perfection, but I expect some level of basic respect/ communication. Don't have the arrogant attitude that your time is more valuable than mine, I requested a refill a couple of weeks and specified the generic brand. They explained they were out, however would reorder it, which would take a few days. They assured me that if there any issues, they would call me. A few days ago I stopped by, was told my refill would be completed in 15 minutes. Told them I'd return in a few days to pick it up, as I didn't have 15 minutes at that time. I just went to pick up my refill. First of all they didn't have the refill ready. Second, they didn't get the brand I requested. I'm upset over the no communication. I spoke with pharmacist, every reason she gave me was a BS excuse, such as, we don't have the manpower to of called you. OK, then dont tell me (couple of weeks ago) that someone will call me. Is it just me but do all the CVS' look and feel the same. One in Manhattan Beach looks and feels like one in Los Altos or Santa Clara or Fresno. It's eery. The workers at this pharmacy are absolutely rude. Every time I have come to get my prescription filled here, the lady who works here acts like she has better things to do and has such a horrible attitude. I have dual insurance, but they can never seem to get my insurance information right and I end up paying out of pocket for my prescriptions. I have Never had such an issue with any other pharmacy. I called in today to have my prescription transferred since the Walgreens across the street was closed. The lady who I spoke with had such an attitude with me asking her to set up my prescription, even though the prescription was given to me from the minute clinic at cvs. After asking her if I could wait on the phone to give her my insurance information (so that i didn't have to hassle once I picked up my meds), she ends up hanging up on me. It's quite unfortunate because the other people who work at cvs in the other departments are sooo nice. read more

This CVS has been at this location for sometime, and quite frankly sucked with poor employee attitudes, inefficiency, etc. But the recent addition of a Customer Service Representative taking control of the front of the store has made a huge difference. The lines move, people are doing their job, and there is no longer the problems of the past. This is a real nice experience to go to. read more

Beware of their robot refill system. First they put me on automatic refill without my consent. Then since it was insurance approved before their arbitrary auto date, the robot told me I could pick it up any time after 2pm. When I came 4 days later, the pharmacy etc could not find the prescription or any sign it had been filled in their computer system. In fact it was still on auto refill despite the robot telling me it would take me off. But she would not refill it because she said there were no refills and the robot system had not notified the doctor to authorize a refill. So nobody living or robot told me in 4 days I had to contact the doctor to authorize a refill, nobody living or robot contacted for a refill, and absolutely nothing was written in my file that I requested the refill or that it was promised & confirmed for 2 pm 4 days ago. Why in heaven's name wouldn't their system check before confirming they'd have ithe prescription ready?? Time to try another pharmacy! read more

The pharmacy has very uneven service -- sometimes good, usually not. At the moment I've been on hold for 50 minutes and still haven't spoken to anybody there. They need to hire more staff and focus more on service. Use Walgreen's if you can, it's substantially better. read more

This pharmacy never gets it right. Nothing but problems since 2018. Totally mismanaged. Every month for the last 3 months when I have to pick up a prescription, they do not apply the manufacturer rebate.This did not happen in 2017 or 2016. I love this CVS. I get all my perscriptions filled here and come here often for greeting cards, candy, magazines, beauty products and beer. The pharmacy can get crowded on weekends or right after everyone gets off work around 5 or 6pm, but that's to be expected at all pharmacies. Most of the workers are nice and it seems like it's alwasy the same people working. Familiarity is something I never take for granted. The prices here can be steep compared to Target but if something is on sale, grab it! CVS has better sales than Target. Beer is usually a good buy here if you don't mind the lack of choices. I love this location because it's right near Coffee Bean, Ralphs and the mall. The parking lot is large and never completely full. I regularly find spots right up front. They also have a great section of "as seen on tv" junk. I just got the super awesome genie bra and I love it. lol :) read more

Slightly random but I just have many nice things to write about what I consider to be a very special CVS store. - Easy parking, as it's located in the Bristol Farms shopping center. - I've filled prescriptions here 4 times and have always been out of there under 15 minutes, no matter what time I go in or how long the line. -Today my pharmacist quickly discovered a way to cut my prescription price in half. This discovery took her an extra 30 seconds and I really appreciated how conscientious she was. - The store is nicely laid out and well-stocked, particularly in the areas of beauty and office supplies (My two drug-store essentials.) read more

I have come to this pharmacy 3 times for the same prescription that the pharmacist will not fill. I've spoken to my MD 3x and he and his office staff have called the pharmacy multiple times to clear the prescription. I came Wednesday because I needed it Saturday and couldn't get it. It is now Wednesday the following week and I still cannot get it. This has happened for multiple other prescriptions I've had. I am no longer filling them here. Sad because I used to work here temporarily. Always had issues with rude techs which is why I left. There is a good pharmacist here but the rest knit pick at every MDs script at their verbiage. Unhappy but should've learned the first time. On top of that I tried to use my health equity payment and I wasn't sure how to use it and it wouldn't go through and the lady was so unhelpful and made me pay out of pocket instead of helping figure it out. They can never figure out my insurance. Overall I've had to wait hours all together for things they deal with everyday and cannot do read more

I went in & I was immediately greeted. I had an extra bucks reward & a manufacturer coupon & they let me combine them. The employees did encourage me to use the self service check out registers. I'm not really a fan, but I did try it & the computer froze! So then they sent me with an actual cashier who was really nice & helped me. Overall the store was really clean & decent parking. Bad experience at this CVS today. After waiting in long line at pharmacy, I tried to use $10 off coupon with cashier. Cashier agreed that I met the terms and conditions but the system would not accept the coupon. Cashier called the store manager. Manager responded that he was too busy. Busy, hard working pharmacist then called manager and was again told that manager was too busy to assist. I was then told that I could sit around and wait until the manager became available or else I could buy the $40 of product without getting the $10 off that I was entitled to. Last night (12-05-2013) I happened to be visiting the Manhattan Beach mall when I decided to pay this CVS a visit. After leaving the mall I simply walked across the parking lot to this CVS. This CVS shares its parking lot with the Manhattan Beach mall, Ralph's, Coffee bean & several other restaurants so it is great for a 'one stop' shop. The parking lot that contains all of these businesses is quite a mess, so when planning your visit here make sure your visit is either early morning, right after lunch or late evening and you will not have a problem. Now that it is currently the Xmas 2013 season getting in and out of this parking lot can be quite taxing no matter the time of day. Upon walking in the CVS you immediately notice how L-A-R-G-E this location is. This CVS was without question a supermarket at some point because I have never observed a CVS this big before. This CVS offers a food, alcohol, Pharmacy center, photo center, lottery kiosk, red box & always has a large selection of seasonal items on display. CVS is currently having a promotion deal where if you purchase $20 of CVS related products, you receive a $10 coupon for further purchases at CVS. Well the brand of lotion I use is a CVS related brand. The only catch is you are limited to one $10 coupon per household unless you sign up for a card every time you visit, which I may or may not have been doing. If you were to sign up for a card every visit you would be able to purchase you favorite CVS related products at almost a 50% discount. The brand of lotion I use costs a little over $5 but when you take into account the $10 of CVS credit / money you are receiving back you are basically paying $2.25 for the same product. In my opinion buying in bulk simply pays off especially when you have no plans and/or desires to switch from one product to another. I buy when items are 'on sale' and when they aren't I don't but when that item in 'on sale' I hit them real hard and get the most 'bang' for my buck. No matter how long the lines are at this location they always move quickly. There are plenty of open & manned cash registers to ensure you get in and out quickly. I have been visiting this CVS for years now and never once waited in line longer than 1-3 minutes no matter the time of year. I really dig this CVS and their ban on plastic bags. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this CVS like 'all' of the businesses in Manhattan Beach provide only paper bags. If and when I am in the area I give my business to businesses that support a cleaner beach & Ocean like this CVS does. read more
