I have the misfortune to have at least 11 active daily prescriptions at any time. Thus, I've had the opportunity to experience many pharmacy departments over the years. The Mar Vista CVS pharmacy is without question the worst of all time. The pharmacists are grossly overworked and understaffed. They do the best that they can under war zone type circumstances. The staff clerks are just plain awful; they are rude, totally uncaring, indifferent, have a bad attitude and are just plain unhelpful. If you like going to the DMV then you'll love this CVS. Otherwise, run don't walk to a different pharmacy. read more

This place is proof that you don't need to provide any customer service in order to stay in business because they provide none and are still there. I used wait in line forever or sit on hold for 15 minutes at a time waiting for any human interaction. Finally switched to mail order which is the best thing ever! Today I called them because I received a savings card for an rx that was $2500 to fill. I wanted to know what the cost would be with the the card so I could decide if I should ask the dr for a different rx that was more affordable. Waited on hold for 14 minutes for someone to pick up the phone. He told me I needed to bring the card in to get a price because he needed to see the 6 digit # on the card to quote the price. Told him I would bring the card in but could I read the 6 digit # to him just to find the price. Nope! He didn't have time to type in all 6 digits after keeping me on hold for 14 minutes. I love supporting local businesses instead of buying on line but these guys clearly do not appreciate the time and effort customers make to support them. They are a perfect example of why brick & mortar is dying. read more

I just want to commend Heather who was the checker this afternoon when I left my credit card in the store. I was in a lot of back pain while I was waiting my turn. She asked the typical question, how are you and I responded "I could be better." She quickly ran my purchases and I walked out to my car which was by the bank, a little distance away. As I was loading my purchase, she came running over to me and handed me the card and said, "I didn't want you to have a worse day." I was shocked and did not really thank her properly, but I am still thinking of her kindness and am so grateful. So thanks Heather. Tomorrow I'll try to get a hold of your boss to let him know what a great employee he has. read more

I just love this pharmacy because the pharmacists go out of their way to make sure my medical regimen is not interrupted. When my prescription expired, the pharmacist on duty was diligent in getting in touch with my physician. I've never had a pharmacist before phone me personally, just to inform me about changes in my health insurance plan. I admire this pharmacy's attention to detail, admirable customer service skills and expert speed in filling prescriptions. Regardless of which time of the day I'll show up, I'm always greeted with an easy smile and warm welcome. This pharmacy gets two thumbs up and a snap from me. read more

This CVS feels a bit run down and the layout isn't the greatest, but at least the staff are not as sluggish as their Culver City & SM counterparts. When I came today for a few items, the line was long but moved quickly. There's a big parking lot which is shared with Mitsuwa market. Overall, can't get too excited about a convenience store but at least this one you can get in and out of relatively quickly. read more

Horrible pharmacists! Their goal is not to help you but to grab as much money as possible from you. My prescription was costing 100s of dollars as my crap insurance did not cover it, there is an over the counter medicine for 10$ which has 1% lesser concentration but they did not feel like telling it to me. I picked my medicine and while walking out I saw the other r medicine, I walked back to the pharmacy counter within 2 minutes and asked to return it, but of course they have a policy of no returns so I am stuck with my expensive meds. read more

I shop at this store once in a while because the store layout is terrible, the customer service is slow and the merchandise is way over priced. . . a full size simply carmel milky way candy bar at CVS drug store is $1.19 whereas Rite Aid price for same size candy bar 2 for 88 cents. For the amount the store charges for the merchandise you'd think they could use the profits to fix the damaged sliding glass door at the entrance way instead of simply boarding it up. read more

Ben who works in the Pharmacy was very RUDE! I asked to speak with someone else and he hung up on me. I called back and told the lady how rude he was and she said "oh that was Ben, what do you want?" I've ALWAYS had problems with that pharmacy, I only go there because it's close to me...After the rudeness I dealt with today I will never set foot in that place again. read more

I go here for convenience because it's near my house. However, the parking situation is pretty bad especially near lunch time due to the Japanese food court next door. The store is a bit nicer than it used to be (they did a remodel not long ago). I use the pharmacy but often wonder why as I'm waiting in line forever to pick up my prescription. There are also often long lines to pay and good luck finding someone to help you. I would say in general it's under staffed. Also in the negative column are the pan handlers who are often camped outside the front door. For whatever reason I guess the police tolerate them harassing the shoppers. read more

This one star is specifically for a manager of the pharmacy of this CVS. I've been going there for years and everyone seems nice and helpful. But this new manager they got (never seen her before) is very rude. She doesn't really pay attention to you when you are there, so u don't know if she knows u r there needing help or just being busy (or pretending being busy) Then when I finally got her attention she seemed like she was in a huge hurry putting stickers on some papers and I felt rushed when talking about medicine I needed. Then she pointed me at an isle where I can find it without giving a name for it, when I asked what am I looking for, she literally ran to the shelf, spent a minute looking for it, gave it to me, I had more questions but because she was visibly irritated and rushed I couldn't even ask what I needed. She was backing out while still talking to me! So I had to find another person to help me. It was a lady who usually works at makeup department, she helped me find what i was looking and in general in the past she was very nice, helpful and attentive, knows where everything is, so to her i'd give 5 stars. That pharmacy manager has to go tho, she obviously doesn't like her work! Please find someone who will actually appreciate having a job, especially in medical field! read more

Going to the pharmacy is one of my least favorite activities/necessities of all time. With that said, this particular cvs pharmacy is without a question, the best. I had an extremely frustrating situation regarding insurance and my medication, and Susan, angel of pharmacists helped me for over an hour with patience, kindness, and respect until I was able to get what I needed. She dealt with my doctors and insurance and worked tirelessly to make sure that I was taken care of, and I could not be more grateful. Susan, thank you! Definitely the only pharmacist/pharmacy I'm going to from now on. read more

All three times which I was there to try figure out disgusting situation that weren't my fault, I had to face grumpy attendants and had to spend too long time waiting. had 3 employee interactions - all were very warm and genuine. quite the opposite of my experience with a different location last night.

Avoid this store at all cost! I have regretfully been using this pharmacy for a year now and I am never going back at this point. I have a number of prescriptions so I make the trip to the pharmacy 2-3 times per month. Of all those trips, 85% of the time there is a problem. One occassion they billed my old insurance (who denied the claim, obviously) even though it had termed 3 months prior. I had given them my new insurance immediately when it was active and they had actually billed it during that time. The technician didn't say, "do you have new insurance, this plan denied?" No, she just said, "that will be $126." Of course, I was caught off guard. Multiple times I have gone in and picked up a prescription and they charged me a different amount than the month before. I learned not to ask questions since they don't know what they are doing anyway and just paid whatever and left. Most recently, they've been having trouble getting one of my meds from the distributor. The last 4 months this has happened. Do they try another distributor? No. Do they call me to tell me they can't get my pills? Of course not! I have to go in there and then they tell me. They'll say I need come back in 2 days. If you've ever been here, you know how horrible this parking lot is. Going more than once in 1 week is not my idea of a good time. This past weekend was the last resort. Again, they could not get my prescription and didn't tell me until I arrived. Unfortunately, I was completely out so I asked the technician, "What am I supposed to do? I need my medication." She just stared at me and shrugged her shoulders. Are you kidding?! Absolutely no customer service. Some medication causes serious withdrawl symptoms if you stop them abruptly, and some can put the patient in serious jeopardy. I had to suggest that they call other CVS pharmacy nearby to check for me as it is a weekend and I can't have my doctor call in a new Rx elsewhere. They moved me to the side and made me wait until they had time to call...approx 15 mins. I have been consistently stunned by how incompassionate and cold the staff is there. I work in medical field and I cannot imagine being so outwardly uncaring as the people who work at this pharmacy. It is called health CARE for a reason. They are the complete opposite, just incompetent and rude. Oh and on one occassion, I was just picking up non-pharmacy items and was waiting in line to check out up front. Some other people formed a second line down another isle after I had been waiting for a few minutes. When a register cleared and I walked up, the woman scolded me and said "ma'am there is a line!" I explained what occurred and she continued to berate me as though I made the whole thing up just to budge in line. Give me a break! The CVS corporation needs to overhaul the staff at this location before all patrons boycott it and they are forced to shut down! Or perhaps that wouldn't be a bad thing afterall... read more

Horrible service! Got a text 2 days ago that my prescription would be available for the next 4 days. Came to pick it up and the lady (her name is Nela) helping me tell me it's not here. I tell her I received a text and that it should be here. She says I can wait for it to be redone with an attitude. I tell her I don't appreciate the attitude to which she gives me a real dirty look. I go to leave and then decide to ask for the manager, so I turn around and she's laughing at me to the other workers. read more

I don't know how a national chain, which should have fairly consistent service across it's stores can be THIS bad. The pharmacy is simply awful with incompetent, unprofessional and unfriendly staff. Don't want to enumerate the many bad experiences I've had since I moved into this neighborhood. Used to go to the Rite Aid on Wilshire Blvd and was always happy with that store. The location of this CVS is great, right next to Matsuya and I pass it on my way home. But it's not enough to keep me coming back. Gotta find a good pharmacy in the Venice/Mar Vista area. read more

While I can understand that the store is understaffed, it gets to a point of being ridiculous when NO ONE answers the pharmacy phone. I've been trying to call for the past 3 days and each time wait 7-15 min before hanging up. I plan on switching my pharmacy, but who knows if they'll ever answer their phone when my new pharmacy calls to transfer my prescriptions! read more

You know when you read a bunch of bad reviews and think to yourself "how can it really be that bad?" The pharmacy at this CVS is even worse. I'm not talking about the store staff or even CVS in general as my general experience with CVS is usually pretty good. I'm referring to the most incompetent, apathetic pharmacy staff that you've ever seen. Literally every time I come in here they manage to screw something up after making me wait in line for 20 minutes and I'm finally done. On my most recent trip the pharmacy manager offered up the explanation that 'she wasn't working yesterday' to explain why the prescription I dropped off wasn't filled with no record of it ever being dropped off. If at least one person reads this review and decides to go elsewhere I feel that it was time well spent. Go somewhere else, you will be glad that you did. read more

This store is run by ghouls and zombies (and, mean ones too). It's within walking distance of my home, and it's the closest store to me, so I usually go there a few times a week. Every time I walk in, the employees give you a look like "what are you stealing today?" And, they treat nearly ALL of their customers this way. One time, I was there for 5 minutes, and I heard "security, scan all aisles" 3 times! They're ALWAYS under-staffed, and their's no indication where the checkout lane is supposed to be. They also have signs posted on their freezers that read "please check expiration date". I guess that ghouls and zombies are illiterate. The place is like one giant, dirty cave with "the living dead" walking around. As a store, it's terrible. As a horror experience, it's better than Disney's Haunted Mansion. read more

Worst pharmacy in the area. The pharmacy techs are rude, slow and disinterested. The pharmacists are not much better. Three times my doctor called in a prescription and each time the pharmacist and pharmacy tech said they never got the message. Since leaving the prescription on the answering service didn't work, I walked in and dropped off the prescription. My husband and I heard two women talking behind the counter. We couldn't see them, but we could hear them. We said hello, is anyone there? The pharmacist walked out, gave us a dirty look, look at my prescriptions and said " fill out birth date and address" and walked away. I did what I was told and waited again. I cleared my throat and jiggled my keys hoping to get their attention. Unfortunately I wasn't as important as their conversation about lunch breaks and food. Finally the pharmacy tech came over. Without making eye contact she entered my prescriptions into the computer. The she asked when I wanted to pick up the meds -- i said the next day. The tech said OK, no problem but if we can't fill it in time we will call you. I didn't receive a call so I showed up the next day as planned. Neither prescription was ready. This time it was a different tech. When I asked why I didn't get a call so that I didn't have to waste my time coming in. The tech said she didn't know why and maybe I should call them to see if my prescriptions are ready. Of course, that makes sense. The customer should do all of the follow up because the pharmacy techs are too lazy to do so. I live in Mar Vista so this is the closest pharmacy to my house. Unfortunately they need a complete overhaul of pharmacists and technicians to get my business again. read more
