This pharmacy (1707 grant) has caring staff, but they are overwhelmed with the amount of prescriptions/customers they have. Two other pharmacies in Novato have closed in recent years and it seems like everyone has come here now. Lines are long and if you have any issues at pick up they direct you I er to drop off meaning you cannot get one stop resolution. You have to wait in line again. If they have an issue filling your prescription they won't call to ask you anything. It just won't be there when you arrive at pick up time. The Costco pharmacy and either of the other cvs stores in Novato would be a better choice at this point. I'm hoping to get all of my prescriptions transferred out asap. It would be great if cvs corporate would increase staffing and review customer service protocols with existing staff here. read more

If there were a minus one star, I'd use that. There's a reason the parking lot is empty, and there's only one employee. I came to grab some nail polish and was prompted to push buttons over and over after saying no to their Care program. The employee insisted I said yes, I didn't. I'm still practicing covid safety and prefer not to be in ANY store, but if I am in one, it's quick. This was not quick. They deserve negative stars. I bought a amazon gift card there and tried to download it to my account while I was still at the register, but the claim code was illegible. I showed the card to the cashier and he and his manager told me they cant help me. they told me I had to call their corporate customer service number but they couldnt give me a new card, even though I just bought the card a minute ago and I opened the card at the register. They should have an obligation to their customers, the products they sell is good and not tampered with and if it is, they should resolve the problem there and not tell their customers they cant help cause the manager tells them "no we cant help him, go call customer service". for a gift card I just bought 1 minute ago. absolutely unacceptable. Novato had a great pharmacy, Pharmaca which was forced to close when Walgreens bought them, We moved our prescriptions to CVS IN Novato which was a big mistake. Corporate store with little concern for customers or service. The lines are always long. Having a prescription filled take a very long time and many times they don't have what's needed to fill the prescription and orders take up to a week to fill. Pharmacy does not open until 10:00 am. They close for lunch so if you work only option is to go the store in the evening. They just don't care! read more

Giselle and the main pharmacist (and elderly man) were very rude. I was waiting in line with two other people when the whole pharmacy closed for lunch when there was 4 or 5 employees working. Most places break employees and stay open. I was standing there dumbfounded when Giselle looked right at me and very rudely said they were closing for lunch. I explained I am picking up a medication for my dad who has metastatic cancer and will wait she continued to be rude. Today I was shopping in the CVS on Grant Avenue in Novato. I asked a woman who worked there, Esperelda, (excuse the spelling) to open the restroom. When we were walking to the bathroom there was a small cart and a roll of paper towel in one of the aisle. Plenty of room to walk around it. She said, "you can walk down the next aisle". I continued to follow her down the aisle with the cart. When we got to the end of the aisle she turned around and said, "I told you to walk down the other aisle" in a very rude way. I scheduled a tetanus shot at CVS online for the San Rafael location and then within a few minutes, I was notified that my appointment was canceled. I rescheduled and I soon had another email telling my appointment was canceled. I called the San Rafael store and after a substantial wait, I got the vaccination line which should be called the "Covid vaccination line." The woman who answered the phone asked how I came to the Covid phone line-she could not answer my tetanus shot appointment questions. So I tried a different tack and rescheduled for the Novato store. I arrived on time to find out that there was no record (on their system) of my Novato appointment, but that one of the two quickly canceled San Rafael appointments had already billed my insurance. Um, but I hadn't received any vaccine at this point. (So one star for the CVS online scheduling system, but I'm not reviewing that right now.) I was asked by Mamood (I am SO sorry if I have your name wrong) who I think is a pharmacist to come back the next day after they fixed this already-billed-your-insurance issue. He explained what had happened and how he was going to fix it. I showed up the next day super reluctant after the mixup. Plus a number of people had told me how much tetanus shots hurt. I remember this from childhood. Yikes. Why did I have to be so careless and cut my hand? Before the vaccination, Mamood was affable and VERY gentle. He joked around a bit to distract me and told me that I wouldn't feel the needle going it. Yeah, right. But HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. It was over in a flash and I left feeling very impressed and relieved. So if you need a vaccine of any type, I recommend the Novato CVS pharmacy on Grant Ave and the professional Mamood. read more

Awful! I got a text saying my Rx was ready, I got there and it was not. More than once. The pharmacist was not there one day. I was unable to pick up my Rx because there was no one there to prescribe it. Also happened more than once. I finally transferred all my prescriptions to Pharmaca in Novato. Never a problem. Nice people and I don't worry about getting the wrong Rx because no one is paying attention. read more

If I could give this pharmacy less than one star I would. Absolutely negligent. Told us medication would be ready in an hour, gave them an additional 2 hours, showed up to pick up pain meds and was told by the cashier that nothing was even started. Had the gall to tell me it would be a while, maybe a couple of hours more. My husband was in pain after surgery and we did our due diligence in calling them to make sure they would be able to fill it in time. Why lie and mislead people when your jobs is dependent on providing pain relief medication. I stood there and watched the pharmacist ignore me while taking phone calls, so I told them if they can't have it ready in 15 minutes to tell me as I would transfer it elsewhere. Miraculously the meds were all ready then in 10 minutes. I'm confused why tell me none of them were ready, when it's clear that all were ready but one. On top of it rude and arrogant. I wanted to get a COVID booster shot and made an appointment at this CVS Pharmacy. Big mistake. The pharmacist who administers the shot is also the same person who has to tend to the endless line of front counter customers picking up their medications. Me and another customer who also had an appointment waited 20 minutes past out appointment time before the pharmacist would finally leave the counter to administer our shots. This pharmacy is way too busy with regular patrons to also have the time to administer a vaccine. Next time, I'm picking a clinic devoted to just giving the vaccine shots. read more

All I needed was a passport photo. I stood in line at the register to ask an assistant for help, per the poster on the wall. The lady at the register and told me to step aside and she would call someone. Which she did. Three times. I waited over 15 minutes. Finally a lady comes to the counter to take my picture, only to serve the gentleman behind me who was picking up photos. She took my picture and went over to the computer to process it, but instead of doing that she started assisting another customer who was printing photos independently on a machine. Then she went to another employee to ring her items up. First off, it should not take 30+ minutes to get a passport photo taken. Secondly, customer service should be just that: service, not surliness. In customer relations, attitude is everything. Would not recommend this store. read more

This review in no way reflects on the employees at this site. It is merely a commentary on how the store is run and set up. This store is way under staffed. If someone needs a money gram or a photo picked up, usually that means there isn't another employee available for check out for a while. I feel sorry for the employees, too, when they come upon a bad customer that holds them up due to their own inadequateness and therefore stalls the whole line. Often, in these situations, a manager isn't easy to produce to assuage this entitled customer so that the rest of the patrons can get through with their purchases. I'll give an example I just had this last visit. I needed some cough drops and Emergent-C to fight off an oncoming cold. I got the items rather easy despite the aisles being super narrow, cluttered, and unkept. When I went to check out, there was just one customer in front of me. She had two items; a skin cream and lotion bottle. What I thought would take just a few minutes turned into a nightmare. First her coupon didn't work, they she forgot she had a gift card. Instead of being gracious about forgetting it, she accused the cashier of stealing her money when the cashier advised her she'd need to first return the items and redo the transaction. After everything was re-purchased, she complained that the coupon wasn't applied to the item it should have been, whereupon the cashier showed her the coupon was indeed applied to the right item. Then said customer counted out the money returned three times before putting each bill perfectly back into her wallet (despite it looking like it exploded). Then she took a long time looking at the receipt before moving on. This whole ordeal took 45 minutes before I could get my purchases through. The cashier apologized profusely but I knew it wasn't her fault. It was the fault of this difficult customer and the lack of staffing. Another area of the store I mention above. The store has small aisles that are often disorganized and so stuffed with things if more than one customer is walking down them it's hard to maneuver through them. The store, also, often had an aisle needing cleaning. Usually something is on the floor, disheveled, or needing someone's care to fix. It's due to all these reasons that I avoid this place when I can. read more

I have been coming to this store since they were Long's Drug Store. I also do not like waiting 30 minutes for my scripts. People that work in the pharmacy are not nice at all,in fact they act like you are a inconvenience! I do not get my meds there anymore, but will say yes they are under staffed prolly because of the hourly wage they pay their employees, but the cashier with blonde hair think her name is Gina is the most helpful lady and talk about great customer service she goes outta her way to help you find what your looking for! I've been coming here for years and I like the small size of it I can always find what I'm looking for---just one tiny quibble: the pharmacist when i was there a couple of days ago is not particularly sociable and friendly; so if you see him and ask him a question, don't be surprised if he answers in a very grim terse bordering on "don't bother me" way. I just had one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in my life! I went in to CVS to use their photo machine to have a couple of pictures printed. When I went up to the counter to pay for them Racquel told me to go do my shopping and then come back. When I came back I had to wait in line for 25 minutes to pay for the items I wanted to purchase. Then, I went back over to Racquel and asked for my pictures and she told me I had to get back in line to pay for them. I waited in line another 30 minutes. She should have told me the very first time that I would have to wait in line. She must've told everybody 100 times that they were short staffed but, there still should be a level of customer service and consideration. I'm beyond frustrated! read more

Can't live with them and can't live without them. Let me explain. In a cobra gap in insurance coverage, I was paying out of pocket for prescriptions (to be reimbursed later once coverage was set) and filled the same set of prescriptions at CVS and at Costco (I am not a member of Costco and anyone can use the pharmacy) - OMG was I shocked at the difference in the price I was charged!! CVS = $380. Costco = $75. So I always try to go to Costco now...but they don't always have my medication and I am sometimes then forced to go to CVS. I know my insurance has agreed upon prices with CVS....but I really feel for people that don't have insurance or prescription drug coverage because I know that they are getting ripped off. read more

I have stayed away from CVS for several years because they never have enough staff. The lady was nice enough checking us out, but the line was 7 deep and no one came to help. This is the same problem they had two years ago, I really can't believe their still around. The customer should be first. I will NEVER shop here again and I encourage people to be observant and give some real thought as to whether they should as well. I am a senior and live within walking distance of this CVS, as such it is quite convenient for me. The feel of this store is very depressing; like the walking dead. The staff is obviously stressed, always in a bad mood and not very willing to help. Considering this company pays its staff at minimum or almost minimum wage, I am not at all surprised but still...I have never had a good experience, not once. Today clinched it though. I had purchased two 8 lb. bags of epsom salts and the total with tax was $17.99. That afternoon a friend I was talking with on the phone said that seems quite high, she had just purchased the same at Target and her bill came to $10.83. Not a huge difference, a bit under double, but on a limited income still a consideration. These are sealed plastic bags and had not yet been opened. Due to the pandemic I wear nitrile gloves and a mask whenever I go out. This morning I tried to return the sealed bags, I had my receipt. The cashier was curt, bordering on rude and she stated that CVS now has a no return policy "until things get better". I pointed out that I had the receipt, I had purchased the items the day before, they were not opened and, just as I was protected then, gloves and mask, I was protected yesterday when I purchased the items. She said there was nothing she could do, looked past me and asked for the next customer. There was NO in store signage stating that no returns would be accepted. There was nothing on the receipt that stated that...only a rude employee. When asked to look for my photo order that was confirmed ready, he sloppily shuffled through the bin for two seconds and said "nope, not there. Don't know what to tell you." I asked him to look again was ignored as he proceeded with the next customer. Roy, if you don't want to interact with people, you shouldn't be a cashier. They looked for 15 mins and then said they could make another one but it would not be ready until tomorrow. I told them not to bother - I will use a different pharmacy. Well I received 2 phone calls stating my medications are ready for pick up . I arrived to the pharmacy , and my medications have not been filled . This happens every 3 months . My boyfriend ended up at the ER (Thanksgiving day) he had a cold which went into his lungs and was having trouble breathing. He has asthma. We were told that this CVS was the nearest pharmacy that was open on the holiday. We got here at 1:55 the pharmacist said that it they closed at 2 and that it would take more than 5 mins to fill the rx and she had a "hot" date. Well, luckily I wasn't standing right there or I probably would have lost it on her. Very unprofessional to let a date take precedence over a persons asthma. Today after many years of being a customer of CVS and their pharmacy (since back in the days that they were called Long Drugs) I have finally had it with the degradation of this place - especially their pharmacy. This has nothing to do with the fabulous employees of their pharmacy such as the always professional Barbara or the always pleasant and helpful Uli. If it weren't for those two awesome ladies, I would have stopped doing business with this location a few years ago. But over the years, the management at CVS have continuously chosen to reduce staff at the store to a point where every pharmacy visit will take you an average of 30 minutes or longer of waiting in line to be helped. And as it typically is the case with prescriptions and medications, there is always a hick up of some sorts which will only end up making your wait time that much longer. Unfortunately some of us have better things to do than waiting in line at a pharmacy at this day and age. And forget about calling them. Today I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes to no avail. Even my doctor's office was telling me that this particular pharmacy has recently been the worst place for them to place their orders as even they have a miserable time getting someone to answer the phone there. Today (second day in a row) after wasting one hour there only to find out that they didn't have my medication in their "system" (and after confirming with my doctor that the prescription was sent in twice) I have decided to call it quits. Not only that, I decided to finally open a Yelp account just for the purpose of writing this negative review. I'm sorry but I have reluctantly chosen to take my business down the road to the Rite Aid on Diablo. I'm no fan of Rite Aid by any means as most of their locations have somewhat of a creepy feel, but hey I'm not there to hang out or meet new people. I'm just there to pick up my medication. So at 4:30 pm my doctor was able to get through immediately to Rite Aid and place my order. There is not sufficient staff. Wait times are at least 20-30 minutes. I am only using them until Amazon perfects their pharmacy supply. The people who work there are nice, but they need to triple the staff. When Amazon does open its pharma delivery service they will lose not only the pharmaceutical customers but the sales of everything else in the store. read more
