I've never had to use the pharmacy, but CVS is great for all my other needs. They are the only store that carries the specific brand of Derma-E moisturizer I buy, which is the only lotion that doesn't irritate my husband's face. What happened to this CVS? The pharmacy is a disaster: we've waited two days for a prescription to be filled and have gone there twice to pick it up but were told it wasn't ready. The shelves are bare and there doesn't seem to be anyone restocking. Maybe pay your pharmacy staff better wages and hire more people? The place has always been depressing but was at least functional. Now they're at a point where they need some kind of intervention to get back on track. As soon as we can get this prescription we're done with CVS. read more

Last edit, zero stars.The little chick with eye make up like Cleopatra was so snappy and rude to me, so uncalled for she accused me of falsifying a prescription. The pharmacist told her that was uncalled for, but he let her rant on at me for 4 minutes. And the most essential thing for my surgery tomorrow they didn't have in stock. They took my prescription, so that I couldn't go to Walgreens with it.Never ever ever ever will I set food it this place again: they are beyond rude, always late, out of stock and extremely stuck up Edit: The last few times I was there, there were new people, and they are very helpful and caring. The pharmacist has moved heaven and earth for me when I needed medicine for my son who had had a bad accident... Zero stars didn't work. I got an email and a text message, even a call, to say my prescription was ready. I stood in line 30 minutes, by the time it was my turn, 15 people were behind me. A woman was called to skip the line, with the excuse that her medicine was ready. Well, so was mine, and I stood in line. All the women behind the counter ganged up on me. Now comes the kicker; there was nothing refilled for me; I had to stand in the other line to 'drop off'. I told them I had no drop off, only a pick up. Long lines, snarly attitudes; this was my last time. I will get my son's prescription back to refill at Walgreens. read more

I called to see if they had any KI or potassium iodide (over the counter) med. In light of Japan's nuclear issues and the (perhaps slight) chance prevailing winds blow the yucky stuff our way, I wanted to inquire and purchase some in case my 2 kids, my wife and I should need it. I was treated with rudeness and lack of communication from the woman in the pharmacy. She said "No we don't have it." I asked in light of the current situation if the could/would be stocking some soon. She again rudely replied "Sir, we don't have that medication. We never stock it." So I replied that as a regular customer could I request they stock some. She replied again, "We never stock it.". The message was clear. "Get lost!" she was effectively communicating. It is amazing that this pharmacy still exists as it needs to disappear and take some of the staff with them (I've decided not to mention her name). I have never experienced such incompetency and RUDENESS, not to mention monumentally unprofessional. I spelled out my name clearly since they NEVER get it correct --Ms. Rudeness said, "you don't have to spell it out like that." Excuse me? I was being helpful and not condescending in the least bit. On another occasion the same woman barked at me for no reason. Am I pissed? Yep. Why? The people who work in the pharmacy are awesome. They work tirelessly and courteously even while customers complain and give them grief. Morgan is the best. Would give them zero stars if I could. This is probably the single most unreliable pharmacy I've ever tried to use. Your prescriptions will rarely be ready in time, and your automatic refill will never be fulfilled. I've been using this pharmacy for years, and hopefully I'll be able to find a better one once I move. Terrible service and zero reliability, DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE A TIME SENSITIVE PRESCRIPTION THAT YOU RELY ON! After a wobbly start, this has become an adequate place to get prescriptions and shop for other sundries. The Good: pharmacy finally has a decent organization system, so the line is short or non-existent (when CVS first took over this Longs in 2010, it took forever to get prescriptions filled). The pharmacists and staff are solid and helpful, but always seem to be over-extended, with lots to do. The Mediocre: this is just a big chain store, with tons of middle-America merchandise. You can buy a cheap toaster, generic wrapping paper, common name-brand supplements, make-up, hair products, over-the-counter medications, batteries, Hallmark greeting cards. CVS has their own generic brand of many medications, which are cheerfully placed to compete with the name brands. But nothing even remotely interesting to look at when I need to go there. Honestly, the nearby Safeway is a more interesting place to shop, and that's not a big compliment. If there were a good neighborhood pharmacy in San Anselmo or Fairfax, I can't imagine going here. In the mean time, I use it when I have to. By the way, Walgreen's next door is slightly better, the pharmacy staff seem to have more time to explain things, but the location is harder to get in and out of. read more

Wow. Worst customer service. Went to get OTC for my stuffy nose and I made a mistake on picking up the wrong one so asked them to change it because it was the wrong order. The old time staff here from Longs days are great. I don't use the pharmacy, use Jack's Drugs because their service and delivery are exceptional. My issue with CVS Red Hill is they do not carry name brands. They are always "OUT" of them, and then have an abundance of store brand items instead. I told an employee that all the name brand items I wanted were NOT stocked and it almost seemed intentional. He smiles and said, "It is." read more

Okay - I'll go up to 4 stars now. The slow moving, but VERY nice checker is still there. I still see the other checkers rescue her when she's getting backed up. But - she's just so nice! Genuinely so. I have great respect for that. I got a flu shot there recently and everyone I chatted with, plus 3 other customers, were very nice. It became a social thing. It took too long though. First one form, then wait. Then check in with someone else who asked questions of those of us in line. Then wait, then finally the shot by a nice very guy. One note: When the 2nd guy asked questions of me and the others ahead of me, they were questions that should be protected by HIPAA laws. I now know exactly when 2 other people were born - and they know my birth date. That should have been done in a more confidential setting. (Or, maybe that's not covered under HIPAA?) Maybe I'm wrong on that. Anyway, the store is always clean, even before a holiday. Good lighting, easy parking. I still go to Walgreen's next door for my Rx, but I'll go here for misc. stuff. read more

CVS Red Hill has been renewing prescriptions without request or approval. I've ignored the problem until today when my son's expensive, rarely used meds were refilled within 2 weeks of the original issue. I paid $94 which they would not refund once I understood what they had done; and they tried to sell me an additional $100 more meds which I declined. They refused all my pleas and denied any wrongdoing, all the while suggesting it would be insurance fraud for them to return the med. Interestingly enough I quickly found media articles on this same CVS behavior in other locations from 2009 and 2102. Seems they under pressure to meet their scrip quotas and will oversell product without customers realizing it until too late. I have filed complaints with BBB, and CA St Pharmacy Board. I will be alerting my insurance also, since those scrips will now register as having been filled, and will reduce our access to them. CVS bills insurance once the scrip has been filled; they don't wait til it's picked up - they will get their money (isn't that the insurance fraud??). read more

Scary dirty at the pharmacy. Floor was littered with empty bottles and unmatched caps. Pharmacist couldn't find medicine dropper for my child's prescription after pulling open countless drawers. Realized this was probably a blessing disguise, as I would not want to use anything from this filthy location. Will not place prescription orders via this location again. read more

I thought I'd give this pharmacy a try again. The pharmacist this morning (young blonde female) was shockingly rude to me - for no reason! She was also obnoxious to the pharmacy tech. I realize everyone battles their own personal demons -- I have grumpy days too. But I'm not MEAN to people just for showing up and interacting! I give up on this place. I will go back to driving 20 minutes to San Rafael to deal with pharmacy staff who are kind and helpful. read more

Since I take many medications, I'm a regular at the CVS pharmacy, and they're the best pharmacy I've ever been to -- consistently the best. Everyone's very kind and focused, and they've been able to work out any issues that come up. read more

The team at CVS Red Hill are always helpful, courteous and caring. I recently ran out of a prescription because my doctor had instructed me to double my dose. When I went for a re-fill insurance wouldn't cover because I had gone through the medication faster and would need to wait 30 days for an insurance paid re-fill. I asked the on-duty pharmacist if I could re-fill for cash. He said no problem, charged me just $10, and I had the meds in about 5 minutes. I need this drug and it was a huge relief to experience CVS putting my health first and ensuring I did not go without. read more

Insulting service and, apparently, intended to be so. I looked up CVS pharmacy in San Anselmo, prior to picking up a prescription, and the on-line posting said it was open at 8:00 a.m. When I arrived at the counter at 8:30 it was closed and gated. A store employee informed me that the whole store is considered "the pharmacy". So, a "pharmacy" sells hair dye, vodka, condoms and cat toys? Apparently. I returned at 1:30 p.m. to get my prescription and, as I approached the drug-dispensary window (Is THIS now the pharmacy?) an employee pulled down the barrier and said the employees were going on a lunch break. No one would fill my prescription for another 30 minutes. His badge said he is "James - Air Force veteran". Also, the bin for collecting unwanted leftover drugs had a sign (which appeared to be permanent) on it which said "Out of service". I asked to speak to the manager about these matters. She was, I was told, "out to lunch". I have no doubt of that. By the time I got my prescription there were at least six people behind me in line and I could hear the (unanswered) phone calls to the pharmacy coming in repeatedly. read more

First time here and I'm very disappointed by the way I was treated in this pharmacy. Specifically by a younger man with blonde hair in a bun and glasses. He had the audacity to act so pretentious and rude to me after he made a huge mistake involving my prescriptions which ultimately caused a huge problem. A little word of advice, if you make a mistake like that, just own up to it. And don't try and take advantage of nice people. This has been a very upsetting experience for me. I have never experienced worse customers service than at this CVS location. Moral appears to be low at this store, as I wait unrecognized at the counter I overhear staff gripe. Perhaps they are too busy complaining to realize I'm waiting to be helped. CVS corporate seems to have a moral problem in its pharmacies in Marin Ca. They have a lady who takes orders at the pharmacy - Kristin. Avoid her at all costs. She gave me such a hard time about a medication that required early refill and then the pharmacist basically told her no problem. Then I saw her questioning the pharmacist re: his decision: "You sure?" Etc... Pharmacist was obviously very cool though. Just wanted to let any folks know that you may be in for an unexpected experience if you have to deal with this Kristin lady. She needs some training and I think it would be really hard to get her to smile. Maybe she just hates working Friday nights? Who knows... If I could give negative stars, I would give this place a -5 review. 100% of the time that I come here, there is a problem. Either my prescriptions aren't ready even though I got calls that they are, or the price is wrong, or they didn't attach my insurance or some other garbage issue that they blame on someone else. Once, they even double charged my card and refused to refund me! Today is the last time I will ever step foot in this dump. I went in to refill 4 prescriptions 7 days ago. They said that they would be ready in 3 days because I needed authorization to refill one. I got a call every day saying that they were ready. I went in today and only two were ready. When I asked why, I was ushered to someone else who just asked me my date of birth and when I could come back to pick them up. No apologies. No "I'm sorry that happened, we will get this taken care of ASAP" No understanding or service whatsoever. I asked to speak with someone in charge and the pharmacist combatively asked why I would wait a week to pick them up. I asked why he couldn't fill prescriptions in a week. He said he didn't like my tone and I said that I had a tone because he can't fill my prescriptions in a timely manner. He then called me stupid and said "Get out or I will take these prescriptions back" I then lost my temper. At no point did I resort to threats or insults but the pharmacist felt it was necessary. I guess maybe he was scared and didn't know what to do when someone held up a mirror to show him his incompetence. I was understandably upset but this behavior was uncalled for. I asked to speak with a manager and the pharmacist laughed and said that he would call 911 not a manager. This person thinks it's funny to threaten and insult his customers. He thinks that it's ok to play games with people's medicine. I and many other people need these prescriptions to be filled in a timely manner. This isn't mascara or toilet paper. This is medicine that people need to LIVE. You can see all of the reviews on Yelp warning you about this place. It's pure trash. The pharmacist is really truly out of his league, senile or just a jerk. Maybe a little of all of the above. There's a Walgreen's 50 feet from here. Do yourself a favor and never ever ever go here for any reason. Unless you want to be treated like garbage or if you like to gamble with your medication. read more

Just when you think they couldn't possibly mess up anything else they outdo themselves by completely blundering my psych meds so here I am, on a 3 day weekend, out of meds. I called, as did a nurse at the doctors office, and it was evident to the both of us they were busy, going a mile a minute and didn't want to both dealing with me. There has been nothing but incompetence at this pharmacy. I don't have enough space to go over everything that has happened but I can tell you they just don't seem to give a hoot about me and my meds. I am going out to Pt. Reyes or Jacks in San Anselmo. Switching a monthly Rx to Walgreens after being fed up with the service at CVS. For some reason they always had 2 Rxs for me- this duplication was never fixed so errors often resulted. I couldn't ever renew online (no record of my Rx), and there were always errors when I called to refill. When I asked about remedying these issues the person didn't even try & just said there was nothing she could do - it was just a part of the system (apparently computers have a mind of their own). read more

This pharmacy is a mess. They constantly struggle to find my prescriptions and the left hand frequently doesn't know what the right hand is doing. With that being said, some staff is extremely apologetic. I at least appreciate those individuals acknowledging an issue. There is one employee however, who's name I have decided to omit, who is horrible. She is rude and acts put out if you have any questions, which she frequently has no answers to. Once she put my prescriptions under the wrong name, which was subsequently also spelt wrong and is unapologetic for her mistakes. If they weren't so conveniently located, I would go elsewhere. read more

Whenever I need help, the people at the front and the stockers on the floor have been very friendly and helpful. they will go the extra mile, and go into the back to find what you want. I've been to other CVS's too, but this one is easier to get around and has always been very accomodating. read more

Still not used to the new updated look from when it used to be Longs, but CVS here is very organized, very clean... until you want to buy something from the cold beverages section. There seemed to be some brown substance - like a glob of peanut butter hanging from the room of the fridge. Can't tell if it's the fridge itself or what, but it made me pretty uncomfortable. The bald cashier is super unfriendly and rude. He wouldn't acknowledge me when I had a question. I had a terrible experience here and ended up walking out and going to walgreens for the item I wanted to purchase. I also saved a dollar on the item I purchased. I recommend going to the walgreens it's on the same street and the people who work there are super kind and helpful. There are also better deals. read more

Short hours, long lines, voice mail that gives the wrong hours! In need of my prescription I call the CVS Pharmacy Line to check the hours. The recording gave the Monday schedule hours, but not actual hours for THAT Monday which was Memorial Day. So I drive over only to discover the pharmacy closed EARLY at 2 PM. and not 8 PM! The outgoing pharmacy message was NOT correct. When I told them the following day, they said it was because CORPORATE did not change the message. I guess as far as CORPORATE is concerned, we the little people are of no importance?! Unacceptable! I'm moving over to a 24 hours pharmacy. read more
