This store is so bad. I can overlook the homeless and/or drugged out people in and outside the store. But the staff is rude and uncooperative. There are a few exceptions, but most of the time it just isn't worth it to go there. Pick another CVS or go to Walgreens--this store is a most unpleasant experience. read more

Worst pharmacy in the area by far!!!!! Prescriptions are always (not ready) so plan to fill anything you may need at least a week ahead of time and plan to stop by three or four times before hand. Picked up a prescription for my sick daughter about a year ago and they filled her prescription with a narcotic pain killer instead of her antibiotic. I was lucky I looked at what I was giving her before I gave it to her. I also had a friend that got oxycodone instead of his normal prescription and he did not look, got very sick. Slowest. Service. EVER!! I feel like I need to block out at least 30 minutes of my day just to pick up my prescription. And there is only 1-2 people there available to help at all times...no matter how long the line! I will say that the staff is very friendly. The general store: As always, CVS is over-priced (acceptable only with card coupons). Unfortunately, sometimes they're the only place in town that has what you need, especially if you're looking for skin or beauty products. The pharmacy: lololol. This 5 star review is for the staff at this CVS. The CVS itself is nothing special, and it's true what's been written about the folks hanging out out front. Knowing and seeing the clientele the staff has to put up with on a regular basis, it is mind blowing how friendly and helpful they are consistently. I have first hand seen the staff diffuse a tense situation with a difficult or downright rude customer many times. So 5 stars to the staff. Really amazing. read more

It's dirty and cramped, there are super sketchy people hanging out in front, they don't keep the back door open, and there's no lighting along the side of the building if you were to consider walking from the Trader Joe's parking lot (so ladies, don't consider it). read more

cvs is a miserable excuse for a drug store. long's was awesome. cvs has no stock, to begin with, and looks like it was designed by a blind person - no personality at all. all of the organic items long's carried have been discontinued. it really is a depressing, retro, uninteresting, personality-lacking store. i hope it goes out of business. i will shop for toiletries and cosmetics and such at trader joe's, new leaf, whole foods, and way of life. i miss long's. it had style and personality and actual items you might want to purchase! read more

Now that CVS has completely revamped the old Long's I'm changing my four-star rating to one. The pharmacy sucks; my wife requires a name-brand version of a drug, not the generic; and it now takes days for them to fill the prescription because "we keep only generics on site." The generic pain pills and such that used to be made in the states are now made in India. They stock only the LARGE size of most cleaning products and they've jacked up many of the prices artificially. To get a normal price, you need a "rewards" card that supposedly saves you money. Wifey is changing her prescriptions to Walgreens, and I'm writing off Longs/CVS as my convenience store. Stick it, you corporate scum. Hope you fail and somebody good takes the store back. read more

The first time I came here I needed printer paper. I was a little bewildered by the new pretty carpet and the big yellow discount signs everywhere, but managed to find the printer paper section. Or where it should have been. It was completely empty. I found someone working there and asked if they had any in the back and they said they did but weren't bringing it out yet. Wikki whaa whaa you just lost a sale. Maybe not a big one, but goodness. I've come back for other things, like toilet paper, when they were out of toilet paper. I've come for tampons and they've only had the awkward extra jumbo plus packs. I get annoyed when I come in for popcorn and only find the single packs (who eats popcorn alone?). It's gotten to the point where every purchase I make here is unsatisfying, and I don't know why I return. I'm really LONGing for the old drugstore, pun quite intended. read more

This place is a wreck. The carpet is gross. If it were clean it would be just plain ugly and that I could deal with, but it's not. I think the carpet must be the reason for the faint smell in the place which I have never really identified and am not sure I want to identify. The carpet just sets the tone though. The place is overpriced. The lines tend to be long, which I normally interpret as a commentary on how popular a place is, or maybe just the time I tend to stop in, but they have registers that are simply never open...and not enough of them even if they were. CVS isn't broke; they could hire one more checker. This means that by the time you actually have a chance to pay for your items, you no longer have the strength to ask why the 50% discount on the display doesn't seem to be applying...you just want to get out of there. (It's happened more than once, to more than just me.) Some of the employees are really unbalanced too. I went in there once and someone turned what should've been a simple exchange of pleasantries into a philosophical debate. Apparently the reason why I was only "fine" and not fabulous that day is because I didn't properly apply the "Law of Attraction." That the sales clerk believed in that is acceptable. That she was trying to cram it down my throat is not. Then there was the day the manager was having a screaming match with a customer right there in the store. That was fun. It was so loud I couldn't continue to look for what I went in there to buy. Walgreens is harder to find but it doesn't leave me on the verge of a headache every time I go, so I go there instead. read more

The pharmacy at Longs Drugs filled my 8 month olds perscription with the wrong medication. I gave it to her for two months until I was getting the refill and started asking questions. I don't even know where to report this to. read more

This place sucks. This is what happens the last 3 times when I went there: 1. They gave me a medicine without the active substance ( what an idiot will not shake the bottle before to pour the contents) , 2. They refused to give me a refill even though I had available refills. There is a law that any prescription expires an year after the issuance no matter how many refills left. Fine , but I do expect that my pharmacy will take care if my prescription is going to expire, simple call will solve the problem. I don't have any chance to know all the laws in this country and it is absolutely unacceptable my pharmacy to leave me without a medication because of a stupid reason like this. 3. I was told to go to the pharmacy in 1 hr to take my medicine. I had to go in my working hours so I went there 2hrs after the order to avoid extra waiting. When I got there I was told that I have to wait 15 mins. These 15 mins turned to 45, finally they gave me the medicine without even to mention that I have to keep it in the refrigerator. I was so stressed that I didn't read the instructions immediately and 4 hours later when I did it was too late. These guys are complete idiots or they don't care. They don't want your business. 9/26/2009 2 more contacts since I wrote this review: 4. I ordered refill for the next day by the phone. When I went the next day to take it they didn't have the medicine available. Why you didn't order it or tell me that you cannot supply when I called ? 5. 3 weeks ago I decided to transfer my receipt to Walgreens. So Walgreens asked CVS for the transfer and CVS sent my receipt . Today CVS called me because a refill is ready for pick-up. Their system is complete mess. read more

Usually trash littering outside, on sidewalks, in bushes....last night was especially bad. No security presence seen. Display rack for our product was empty...asked clerk who called someone in "the back "....commenting that the stock room was such a mess always that it would be unlikely that even IF stock was there, that it could be found easily. We left without our item and might return ONLY if it is the only place open in town and we are desperate. Being that I have family in the profession I understand the stresses of working as a pharmacist at cvs, but that gives people no right to act unprofessional. CVS transformed an adequate Longs drug store into a hideous, low service nightmare. It is such an ugly, offensive looking place brightened with even more flourescent lighting. I've since discovered all CVS have this horrible institutional look, from signage to layout. But even worse are the long lines-always! I fault corporate management. read more

I have been shopping at this CVS for the past 10 years.Ever since I started working down town. I work in the Palomar building right across the street and frequent here quite often, almost weekly. So to my surprise, after purchasing $1400 worth of money orders from the nice clerk I was stopped by the awful, un professional Security Guard at the door. After I had smiled at him when leaving, he asked if I had made a purchase, made me open up my purse, and take the money orders out of the envelope to show him. Are you kidding me!? I felt so violated and absolutely disgusted by him! I spend SO much money in that store, I work6- 7 days a week down town at two very successful establishments and who are you to question my integrity? Because of the way I look? Why did he only stop me? I am SO offended that even questioned me! This guy needs to lose his job. If I wasn't about to clock in at work I would have gotten his badge number and filed a complaint. I honestly feel uncomfortable shopping at CVS now. He can be sure I will go back in as soon as I have the time. Today is 10/30/ 17 and this was right before 3pm. I scheduled a flu shot, but no one was there when I went to store, they even sent me an email confirmation. Prescription fills are painfully slow, don't go to the store based on the "expected" availability, call to confirm it is ready instead. I wasn't a big fan of longs either but other than the convenient location everything about this place is a disaster, consider safeway or better yet westside pharmacy. read more
