Most unproffessional Store I've ever been in. I've never witnessed an Employee openly and proudly talk smack about their own customers. Disgusting. I recieved no assistance; you know, being a woman and all. I literally stood infront of the register ready to make my purchase and had to wait for the Employee to finish talking (to his non-employee) friend before even being rung up. This place Rocks. Since I'm a newbie to the motorcycle world, I need a place where the staff is knowledgeable and the prices are fair (because I wouldn't know the difference - haha)... Cycle Gear is a good pick! Luckily for me, I have a good friend who is well-versed on everything moto. First, he recommended Cycle Gear and Santa Clara Cycle Accessories (my next review) and then he went with me to Cycle Gear and helped me fit myself for a helmet, jacket and gloves. The sales people stopped in occasionally to make sure we were ok though... This is how novice I am... Lg helmet - (me) 'Oh nice! I think this fits!' (my friend) 'Well, when buying a helmet, you should look for...., maybe we should try the next size down' Med helmet - (me) 'Oh, you're right! This one fits better!' (my friend) - 'ok, well let's try the next size down' Small and Xsmall helmet - (me) oh, these are tight but I guess they fit' (my friend) - 'ok, let's go with the small and now you can wear it around the shop for a half hour while we find a jacket to make sure it doesn't have any 'hot spots'. (me) - 'seriously?' Ahahahah Ok, I'll stop there... in the end, I got a great set of basic, inexpensive beginners gear. 02/21/2015 Went into cycle gear for gear with a budget but that went the window when I seen there big selection and clearance items "im a sucker for a bargain"... I was checking out an icon helmet when Sebastian came and helped me out, he was very knowledgeable explaining what each helmet was known for, quality, and fitment. due to my head shape he recamended a shoei helmet, I showed interest in the rf1200, it was the exact color scheme I was looking for and on close out. Took that puppy home. next a jacket, i am very picky when it comes to fitment, they had alot to choose from brands, styles, colors, material etc. i ended up getting the ast air alpinestars which fit well. gloves, again they had alot of styles and brands, yet a little behind on having all sizes in stock , yet I still ended up with a sweet pair of dianese gloves -double padding where most needed, knuckle protectors, kangaroo leather. as I was checking out,i asked about how I heard most helmet speakers are very poor quality or not load enough, he reassured me that he uses the uclears as they are not too expensive and they work great, especially when using with the helmet I just bought "rf1200" I took his word for it and they are loud. Mehhhhh. What's going on with this place pushing their brands, Bilt and Sedici super hard on clientele? The selection could use some serious work in the helmet and ladies department. There's very few option for female gear! I wanted to try on the hjc and icon helmets, but they don't even have size small in the store to try before you buy. I did opt for just buying the Icon Airmada online, but hated the fit so I returned it. Big waste of my time if you ask me. This place does offer a 15% discount if you complete the msf course off your entire purchase though, so that's a plus. It saved me some money on a helmet for my boyfriend and an alpine stars leather jacket for me. Very eh selection. Don't know when I'll be back or if I'll be back... read more

I just signed up for a motorcycle training course and my roommate said this was the place with the best selection of helmets he knew of in the area. So we came over this evening to try a bunch on. I wear glasses, so I was finding some of them didn't work as well as others. One of the associates named Sebastian noticed me and helped recommend some of the ones that would work better for me, and offered to check in the back to find my proper size as well. He checked up on us more than once just in case we needed anything or had any questions, which was very friendly and attentive of him. Finally I made my selection (it took me nearly two hours), along with a pair of gloves, and despite the fact that it was only five minutes 'til closing time, we weren't rushed to get out the door. In fact the cashier, Carlos, even saw to it to give me a free replacement visor on the helmet I'd picked because it had a couple of minor scuffs and scratches and he wanted me to have a perfect one. To top it off, he gave me a sweet discount because it was the last one they had left in stock! That blew me away and I was super appreciative, especially since I was on a slight budget. I went to Cycle Gear looking for a jacket for my boyfriend. Being someone who knows nothing about motorcycle gear, I was pretty confused by the types of jackets. Luckily, one of the sales associates came over and asked me if I needed help. She was super friendly and told me about the differences between brands. She also showed me which kinds of back braces I could get. I found a Frank Thomas jacket that was originally $159 and it was on sale for $50. Such a good deal! They have a pretty nice selection of brands (Frank Thomas, Arai, AlpineStars, Icon, Fox, O'Neal, etc.) and it's well organized. I came here a few times with my brother so he could buy his motorcycle gear. There's a good selection of jackets, helmets, and equipments here. I think there a little bit more motocross stuff here but it's all good. The staff are friendly and helpful. You can ask them to special order something, too. This place is great! I'm going to start out by saying the workers are friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. For the size of the store, it has a good variety of gear and accessories. I've been going here regularly for a few months now as I'm just getting into riding and need all of my gear! So far, I have purchased my helmet at this store, and although they didn't have the one I wanted in stock (they don't have any HJC helmets in stock - just floor models to try on) they were able to order it for me and let me pick it up from the store, which was great for me because my neighborhood is a hot spot for stolen packages! I picked it up about ten days after I placed my order. I honestly would have given this place four stars if the staff wasn't so darned helpful! I understand that female riders are a minority population so it's not logical to have a ton of women's gear, but the selection is so small that I ended up just buying the rest of my gear online! It's a good place to go to try on gear for size, but don't go in expecting to walk out the door fully outfitted if you're a chick. read more

This review is for my first visit to Cycle Gear on 12/29/2017 afternoon. I went into the store, looking for gloves for street bikes for my first lesson that evening. I was immediately greeted upon entering the store, I was able to find the gloves section on my own and what I needed. At the check out, I was helped by a young gentlemen in black hoodie, he was nice and asked if I was able to find everything I needed. At that point I asked him if the gloves I had gotten are street bike specific, and told him I was having my first lesson later, he answered my question and proceed to ask if I need help looking for other gears, and made recommendations. If you have been lured in by good deals for beginner riders, go to Revzilla online. Don't get fooled by Cycle Gear's claims of good gear for starting. All that means is that you are buying cheap crap. Beginning riding gear=lower quality and price tag. Revzilla, on the other hand, has full tutorials (on brands, types of gear, rider specific--i.e. adventure touring jackets, etc..) and have an amazing return polity. I do not work for them, but have purchased from them. No hassle. Cycle gear mainly hocks the junky brands they manufacture. And they are junk. So, the question is, do YOU, as a beginning rider want to buy subpar safety equipment? Because, after you ride around with this for even a month, you will regret buying it and get something that will actually keep you safe. In any case, my review. Sadly, this is what a failing business looks like. Exactly. Poor customer service (I'll get to that), poor selection, most things in one size or out of stock and just general disarray (boxes and product everywhere...the boot and shoe area was just boxes and shoes everywhere). So, we walked in and were greeted by the only, seemingly, normal employee there. After that, the good times were no more. We went to look at helmets, jackets, and gloves. Alpine Star. None of which were larger than a small or medium... in anything- brand or type of gear. Customer service. Wow. There were about eight employees in the general area we were in. We are looking at helmets and no one approached us. No, instead, they proceeded to loudly joke, use foul language (and I'm no saint) and talk about REALLY inappropriate things. Practically yelling. No joke. After about 10 minutes where I felt like I was at a dumbed down frat party, a group of customers came in. Guess what? All but one employee vanished into thin air. Never to be seen again. So, we asked the one employee for sizes. He was absolutely unfriendly and not helpful. I guess he, and the others, only come out of their shell when they are around their buddies at work talking about things that teenagers talk about. I was prepared to spend well over a grand there. The only thing they had that we wanted were a pair of Alpine gloves for $150. I was so blown away by how the store looked and how the employees were acting that finally set them down and told my wife we weren't buying anything from there; now or again. I'll further add...this place is a pale comparison of what it was (which wasn't much). Now, they almost exclusively carry their junk Bilt Brand and their fake 'high end' (but also made by cycle gear) Sedici. Once you could find Dianese and other solid brands...now, almost nothing of either. My suspicion is that they really only realize that they can target new riders with this junk. So, they do. They even have commercials running in the store talking about how great their products were for beginners. My suggestion to the owner or manager is to get rid of most of your employees or pay more attention. The clowns working their now need to go. Oh, and you might want to try stocking items. No one is going to go to your website to order when Revzilla is so much better. read more

I love cycle gear. the first time you go in, you might be freaked out by the 75 employees all standing in the doorway to greet you, but its nice that you never have to look far for help. They know their stuff which is refreshing. prices are good and they are very respectful (im an 18 year old girl and i dont feel taken advantage of or disrespected in any way) which is unusual in a male-dominated place like that. They have a larger than usual selection of female riding gear which I LOVE. Usually I just go to look at stuff and they dont care at all; some places only want you in there if you are going to spend a bunch, but cycle gear is much more concerned about you finding what you need. read more
