I have been coming here for the past few months and the service has been exceptional each and every time. The first time I came in I had my girlfriends old bike and I needed to check to see if her flat tires were because of holes or not. They checked for free and when they saw that my tubes were fine they filled them up with air and sent me on my way. I came in last week and I had my tires air pressure filled up, again for free. I got my first flat this past weekend so I had to go in yesterday to get it fixed and the tube and service was pretty quick. Tim took the bike ran a check on my rear tire and took it back to fix it. 10 minutes later he was walking out the back with my bike fixed. The service here has always been top notch and I am very fortunate to have been so close to this bike store. Tim in particular has been the most helpful guy and always super nice to me. I am not sure if this place is expensive or not since I do not know too much about bikes, but the service is top notch so I would take that into account. read more

Recently bought an Electra bike here and had a bit of a weird experience. When I came in, the online shop said that the bike I was looking for was in stock. But when I got to the store, it turns out the bike wasn't there. Fine, whatever, no sweat! They put in an order and said it would be there by the following weekend. Fast forward a few days, and it turns out the bike was damaged. So they had to order a new one, and they weren't sure when it'd get in. A few days later, I called and found out the bike had just been delivered so I asked when I could pick it up. They said they needed to build it first, but then called shortly after to say it was ready. But there wasn't really any apology for the late delivery, so I was a little thrown off by that. When I made it to the store a couple days later, I was thrilled the bike was finally there in one piece (by this time it'd been 2 weeks since I put the order in). I asked for some help to get it on my bike rack, and the employees refused saying they'd then be liable for the bike if it fell off. That felt a tad rude, considering I'd just spent nearly $600 on a bike that they'd delivered to me a week late, without apology. On top of that, the sales guy insisted I needed a $40 device to keep my bike on the car rack (which, by the way, they still wouldn't help me with). I later found out this frame adapter costs about half the price at another local bike shop down the road. Sigh. So overall? Nice shop with some great bikes, but failure to deliver, lack of the southern hospitality I've gotten used to in the Triangle, and general overpricedness will keep me from recommending this spot to fellow cyclists any time soon. read more

This is a fantastic bike store. It is not convenient to me but I have gone out of my way to come here several times because of the service. I have some loyalty to them because they have supported my cycling team. I have purchased a road bike from them (trek lexa) and have been very happy with it. They also do free bike inspections for the Bike MS event at New Bern. Add to the fact they are located on the Cary greenway with great hours (including Sunday) and it all boils down to a great place to get some good bike attention if you're on a long ride in Cary. Went on a Wednesday afternoon 12/18/13 around 6pm since the parking lot was empty. Dave was with a customer. Jeff had just left the store and Tim was at the counter and doing things in the back. The was my first bike shop to start my journey to purchase my first quality bike. I waited 10-15 minutes upon arriving at the store. Dave stated someone will be right with you as he was helping another lady customer. I was waiting for Tim to come out to assist me. After 15 minutes, I was greeted by Tim to see some bikes and informed him what I was looking for, a ladies hybrid within a certain price range. He showed me a nice Trek bike, middle range and explained the difference in about 8 minutes . I offered my drivers license to hold while I test ride, he said it was not necessary, strange I thought. He did not make any seat adjustments to the bike for my height and said I may be short by 1-2 inches but should be "okay". When I rolled onto the parking lot, my knees could not fully extend through each revolution and made for an extremely wobble ride to say the least. My legs were burning after 3 minutes trying to figure out the bike shifting and just trying to normally peddle. It was a horrible test ride experience which left me feeling how a customer can truly evaluate a bike if the salesman didn't even take the time to attempt to get a basic seat adjustment. I returned the bike inside. No one greeted me on the return. Could not find Tim, I walked up to Dave to let him know I returned the bike and I walked out. 4 days later on Sunday at 12noon, got much more attentive service at The Bicycle Chain in Apex when they opened. While there, they adjusted the seat for me on 2 different bikes, spent 45-70minutes fielding my questions while the staff addressed each single incoming customer since the store was super busy. But I still felt I was not being ignored and actually learned a few additional things along the way as I am interested in the sport beginning with reading my books on it i.e "Every Woman's Guide to Cycling" by Selene Yeager. I was disappointed with my experience at Cycling Spoken Here in Cary, NC. Perhaps it was the time of day but still, no excuse. I did learn however that sometimes at a bike shop, like a good restaurant, if the parking lot is full, it means it's good. read more

I've spent the last week or so heavily researching bikes and set off in search of the perfect fit for me. I tried several other stores and compared them against each other. I wound up buying my bike from this establishment. Their service was on par with the other reviewers mentions. They were friendly, attentive and relaxed (which I quite enjoy.) The bikes were Trek bikes and all appeared to be of good quality. I bought the Trek Shift 2 and am loving the ride already. I have neck/back issues and the handlebars set me up for great posture. read more

Walking into the store I was greeted by a friendly sales associate who immediately answered my questions and directed me to the style of bike I was looking at. To my luck Cycle Spoken Here was the only Trek Authorized dealer in the Raleigh/Cary area that had the model I wanted in my size left on the showroom floor. I then spoke to the bike tech on hand and asked a good number of moderate to detailed questions about the bike. I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable so I know ahead of time what I would be asking. He answered my questions, some detailed and others not so much, but overall gave me a good sense of what I was looking at. After a good test ride I decided to purchase the bike and preceded to wait 20-25 minutes as the tires were converted to tubeless. Finally I was on my merry way. Fast forward a couple weeks later and a handful of rides and I began to notice a decent amount of slop in my rear suspension. It began to worry me as it progressed from simply feeling it when I picked the bike up to hearing it while I rode over rough terrain. A co-worker of mine is the head bike tech at the store I work at so he volunteered to take a look at what might be causing the problem. As he began looking at the rear suspension, while I stood watching over, he found all four real suspension linkage bolts extremely loose. Each bolt took multiple turns of the torque wrench just to reach a point that gave some resistance let alone actually turning them to the recommended torque. Based on his findings the tech decided to look over the entire bike where he then found an under torqued crank and crank arms. These issues could have resulted in serious damage to the bike and to myself and I am upset that this is even an issue considering the price I payed for the bike. A thorough pre-sale check should have been completed before I walked out of the store with the bike but it seems to have been forgotten in way of the tubeless tire conversion. Still, I gave them three stars considering they were more than friendly and went out of their way to answer any and all questions I had to make the buying experience as pleasurable as possible. read more

Friendly, helpful, and affordable. We arrived here after visiting several bike shops in the area and doing some research online. As everyone says, the staff here is very friendly. They greet you upon entering, even if they're already with someone, and let you know that they'll be with you soon. My only warning here is that the staff can sometimes appear to take their time getting to you. Most of the time, it's not an issue, but If you're in a hurry with a bug already up your butt, you'll probably be less than enthused about they're commitment to good service with OTHER customers. It's a small price to pay for the quality of service here in my opinion. The bikes here to be honest, are like bikes anywhere from what I can tell. They sell mostly (if not entirely) Trek/Bontrager, but after riding around on bikes at several shops, I can say they all feel mostly the same on those slow, in-store demos. In the end, after agonizing over it, I finally decided to just snag a bike and see how it went. We came back to this shop after going elsewhere because of how friendly they were, and I'm really glad we did. I've been back several times for various things, and each time they're great to talk to. Being a complete newb to bikes, it's easy to get intimidated by the staff at these stores, but none of the guys we've spoken with has been anything but encouraging. Even more awesome, our bike purchases came with a free tune-up, so when I took them back in for service, I left them with them and came back a few days later to a bike that was ready to roll. read more

This is a super-friendly bike store. We have been to three area bike stores, on two different weekends, because the whole family is getting bikes. Hands down, this was the most attentive store. We still haven't bought anything (so much to consider!), but each time, the staff members were patient and helpful as we tried out bikes and tried to figure out what would work best for our family. Unlike the other bike stores we visited, they actually had enough staff to handle everyone who came in and give them full attention. At other places, I would get back from a test ride to discover the person helping me had disappeared. I definitely like this local business. A week or two later, I was out riding with a friend and we blew two tires in an hour. The people at the shop replaced both, laughed with us, gave us some refreshment, and sent us on our way. I have nothing but good things to say about CSH! They stood out from other bike shops in their attentive customer service, fitting knowledge, product selection, and follow-up support. In my opinion, they are the Dura Ace of local bike shops! A year ago I purchased a hybrid from a different local shop, and then followed it with purchase of a road bike off Craig's List taking care to ensure size agreement with the Hybrid that was sized by the shop that sold it to me. This shop then worked with me to make adjustments my CL road bike: seat height, handle bar distance, etc. to ensure a proper fit. After logging a number of 20 - 30 mile rides on the road bike, I developed painful knees, significant aching in my upper back, and frequent numb hands. Not wanting to give up riding, I returned to the hybrid shop to seek a solution. They were of no help. When I went to CSH, I found a knowledgeable staff committed to giving me all the time I needed to sort out my situation. I will note, however, that initially I was a little irritated that I had to wait longer to be serviced than I thought necessary. But once it was my turn, I was grateful for the undivided attention of the staff. These guys are all about personal attention; they take the time to understand your concerns so they can address them in an appropriate and thorough manner. In the end, I paid for the full motion analysis, and purchased a larger-size bike with a ride profile much more compatible with my purpose and style. This was all money well spent, something I should have done from the start. Now, after putting several hundred miles on my new CSH ride -- primarily on rides of 50+ miles -- I have none of the physical issues I had before. The CSH team worked together to give me a significantly improved riding experience! The entire staff at CSH has been most helpful: Steve fitted me and counseled me on the specs of my new bike, and offered helpful tips on riding technique; Tom was always available for my many newbie follow-up questions; Tim and David never failed to help me with fast and often on-the-spot mechanical adjustments or questions; and Jerel consistently made her cheerful self available for more newbie questions and helped me with clothing selections. I've gone in here multiple times. First was to get a bike with a friend. He knew what he wanted and saw it online. After 20 mins of looking at bikes he found a few others he liked. We ended up standing around for 30 mins waiting to get help. Workers were just standing around and payed no attention to us. We ended up leaving without a bike. Two weeks later we went back in thinking there would be other workers and we could get help. Knowing it would be a while before we could get back we knew we had to get it that day. Again we found the bike but this time I had to hunt someone down for help. He stood there helping us for a minute but kept looking around for "a better sell". Once he realized he was really getting a bike he payed more attention to us. We left that day with a bike, a new helmet, some supplies and a thousand dollars less in our pockets. The next time we went in was a month later. After riding some trails my friends bike needed some fixing. We called in and the guy said he could fix it in a week. He said he would call to tell us if it was fixed and when to pick it up. After almost a month of waiting we heard nothing so we went in to check and they said it wasn't fixed yet. We said we would take the bike and fix it ourself. The guy went to the back and another man came out and said he would fix it right away and if we came back in an hour it would be fixed. We agreed and came back to a fixed bike. It cost 500 buck to change the tire and fix a minor frame problem. Earlier this week I get an old fashion bike with no brakes. Knowing that we go on trails a lot I wanted to put on some kind a brakes. I walked around the store for about 5 mins until someone came up to help me. I thought it was a good change but I was wrong. I explained the situation and I said I had no brake system, pads levers cords nothing. After explaining it for a 5th time I started to get mad. I said I just need brakes. All he said was "I can sell you breaks but I KNOW they will be back in a week." The sales men here are just plain rude and don't care about helping. They just want the sale. I will never come back to this store. I work at a store a lot like them but we take things different. We want to help people fine what they need even if they don't know what they want exactly. These guys are just rude. DON'T GO HERE! OVERPRICED, RUDE AND ALL AROUND TERRIBLE! read more

I purchased 2 bikes here in the past 17 years and the bikes have lasted a long time although my first bike was stolen in 2005 on campus at NCSU. I will probably buy my 3rd bike here but took one star off since bikes are quite pricey unlike bikes at Walmart or Target but the quality of the bikes is probably a whole lot better. Love the good vibes and customer service of this shop. Finally love the free lifetime total maintenance package they offer on bikes. Great business. read more

Been here twice - once 4 years ago when I was bike shopping, and again this week when bike shopping. Both times, I've been treated like a complete amateur. I explained what I wanted and used terminology that indicates I am somewhat knowledgeable - detailing the pros and cons of my current bike and mentioning which components I want. Both times, the sales rep pulled out a bike that looked like a children's bike that was not at all what I explained I wanted. On this visit, there was a bike 10 feet away that I kept trying to look at; I really wanted that bike except they would have had to order it in my size. Instead, he wanted to keep wasting my time with a bike that I was not interested in. Classic case of sales rep just wanting to sell any bike they have, not go to the effort of ordering the right bike for the customer. The rep decided he wanted me to ride the bike I didn't want, so he took it over to the trainer so he could size it, and put flat pedals on it as if I've never ridden a bike before. At every other store I shopped at, the sales guys said, "Did you bring your shoes? What kind of clips do you have?" so they could choose the correct pedals. This guy just continued treating me as if I'm a complete amateur. A shopping experience like this makes me feel judged. Twice in the same store = never going back. read more

Though one person was helpful when we arrived, he left to help another customer looking for a more expensive purchase (though, these are some seriously priced helmets). Can't fault him. He was nice enough and probably works on commission. We went to purchase the lovely, but overpriced helmets and waited, waited, waited for someone to cash us out so we could take our purchases and leave. Ten minutes passed in which several staff members walked up to the counter, looked at us, and then left to attend other customers. We grew tired of waiting and put the helmets back. The only staff member to help us was at least kind enough to help determine the needed helmet sizes. That came in handy when we ordered the helmets online elsewhere. The guy working was really nice - he went and found me a new washer and even put it on for me, no charge. Great shop and great service. I am an avid cyclist, both road and mountain. I have not bought a bike from a shop in over 10 years as my last two bikes were mountian bikes that I built myself from parts and frames ordered online. That being said I found that my 10+ year old Litespeed road frame was cracked in two spots when I went to change the rear tire. I went to Cycling Spoken here as they were a Trek dealer and Trek was having there summer sale. The folks in the shop were fantastic to work with and let me take a few bikes out for long test rides before I decided on the exact frame size that fit me. Next time I am in the market for a new ride or need other goodies I will be going back. read more

Came out to NC on vacation from Southern California to visit friends and family -- decided I wanted to go for a ride. After calling a bazillion shops to find a road bike I could rent, Dave @CSH was the one who got back to me. I could not have been more impressed with the customer service, even over email. When I arrived, everyone treated me like family, and were absolutely the coolest bike shop folks I've met in a long time. They rented me a magnificent bike for an incredible price, and went absolutely above and beyond the call of duty to make me feel welcome. Their proximity to the incredible Greenways was a big plus too. I absolutely plan on renting from CSH the next time I'm back in NC, and every other time after that. Thanks, Dave!!! read more

They had a sale at the end of August for bikes in inventory. I should of stopped by any other day but the last day. The bike I wanted and in the size that fit me was not in stock. Thus, I could not get the sale price. But they still gave me a $50 in store credit. Great staff! Plus, they offer lifetime free of service (not including parts). He notified me of a cable that was $2 that needed to be fixed, asked if it was ok rather than just doing it and charging me without me knowing. He tested it, explained all he did. Took my bike in for repair here, not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be a great experience. They explained what would need to be replaced in detail, and gave me a free estimate. I was nervous that it would be an expensive repair, but the cost really wasn't that bad. The woman that helped me was super chill. My bike was returned looking better than ever, and functioning smoothly! Aside from that, the store itself is pretty neat. There are lots of colorful things to look at. read more

I'm a bit peeved at the Cycling Spoken Here's service center. Twice in one day they failed to fix a flat tire on my mtb. I found out from another cycle shop that the problem was that the rim tape had been improperly inserted. However, it wasn't until I made it to the third cycling shop that it was completely resolved. The issue ended up that the tire fits the wheel very tightly. When you put the tire on the wheel it slides the rim tape out of position. I wish that CSH would've figured this out. I understand the mistake the first time, but I'm less forgiving of their failure the second time. I also don't like how they've now enclosed their service center and surrounded it with merchandise. I have had positive experiences there before. After all I bought my last two bikes from them. I wish I could take 1 1/2 stars off, but it makes you take a whole star. As a result I'm just going to take off 1 star for these transgressions. Also, I gave CSH's store manager a chance to call me back before I posted this. They didn't call. read more

Called recently about ordering a bike which wasn't in stock and the salesperson mentioned that those bikes sell so quickly that they might not "remember to call me" before they sell them all next time they arrive. A friend and I went in to CSH today looking for a hybrid bike, and were so happy that we did. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with knowledgable, enthusiastic and personalized customer service - especially important to me, as I'm a new rider with a lot of questions. We were fitted with and test rode a few different bikes, which were adjusted as we rode by Aaron, who rode with us (ask for him when you go - he was awesome)! In the end, we found a bike for each of us - mine wasn't in stock, and they gladly ordered it for me for pick up later in the week. I got all of the accessories I needed without any pushy sales talk, and they outfit our bikes for us. Overall, this was a really fun experience for a couple of beginner riders, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

I ended up buying here as their staff actually seemed intent on providing good service. At one other shop I went to the employees looked like they were stoned and weren't very helpful. My wife and I bought our first "real" bikes in July. Great experience, knowledgeable staff. Ian spent 2+ hours with us as we figured out what we wanted, including test rides outside. I brought the bikes back this past week for our first "tune-up" (every new bike comes with a lifetime of free service). I got to the shop after closing time, but Tom readily took them and checked them out making some cable adjustments right then and there. We've been in the shop 2-3 times since we bought our bikes for various accessories and every time the staff is extremely helpful and take the time to answer whatever questions we have.
