No scripted sales pitch. Just real conversation, and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back again. Paso Robles has no shortage of tasting rooms, but this one felt personal in the best way. Highly recommend!

The staff and owners are wonderful friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the entire experience feel warm and engaging. LXV is especially known for pairing wine with custom spice and flavor experiences that complement the tasting. They traditional wine tasting and a wine-and-cheese pairing experience (which I highly recommend). The cheeses are coated with the different blends of LXV's own herbs and spices, adding a unique layer of flavor to each tasting. If you enjoy cooking or simply appreciate bold, and well balanced flavors, chances are you'll leave with a few spice blends to take home along with a bottle or two of wine. Our first stop when we arrived in Paso. We've been to so many wineries, this would be one of our top 10. The spice pairing is unique but pairs so well with the wine. Buy 3 bottles to waive the fee. Since it's more of boutique, the bottles are quite pricey, mostly ranging near the 100s. But it was our favorite the whole weekend we went there. And we bought 6 bottles. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. Friendly and attentive service. Can't wait to pop open a bottle at home soon!

There's not a ton of flash which some high end wineries use disguise mixed quality of wine. You'd be comfortable here dressed up or in sweats. Justin, the tasting room lead, is knowledgeable but far from snooty. On a quiet weekday afternoon, he spent a long time with us -- we explored a wide range of whites and red (and one rose). Some of our favorites: Chardonnay Napa Valley, Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard Carneros (I don't drink Chards and really enjoyed this one), Cabernet Angels Vista, Cabernet Lameraux. Yes some of the wine is expensive but they have something for everyone.

A small bummer at the start was that we arrived before opening at 12PM and were waiting outside with several other guests. Someone unlocked the door, but no one let us know we could come in. About 4 minutes after 12, I tried the door and realized it was unlocked, though none of us had heard or seen it open. Not a huge deal, but a quick welcome would have been nice. After that, everything was fantastic. I love that Justin offers this tasting room separate from their main winery, which is several miles away. Having a location right in the downtown Paso Robles square is so convenient, especially being surrounded by shops and restaurants. I also really loved the setup with tables to sit at versus standing at a bar. They offer wine by the glass as well as different tasting flight options, and they also serve small bites. We heard there are different menus depending on the day, which is a nice touch. Our server greeted us quickly, brought water right away, and got our first tasting to us fast. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and did an excellent job explaining each one. Since we were in a bit of a hurry to catch a flight, she kindly brought all of our tastings out at once, clearly labeled, walked us through them, and let us enjoy at our own pace. We really appreciated that. Wish we had more time here. Highly recommend. Also, if you join their wine club, your tastings are complimentary, which is a great perk!

The woman pouring was really nice and knowledgeable. I don't know much about wine, so this is more about the experience, but my friend loves The Philanthropist so we stuck with that. Someone at the bar told us to try the 2023 Pinot and I'm so glad they did -- smooth, no weird aftertaste. I ended up buying a bottle. Fun, welcoming, dog-friendly, and small enough that you can actually chat with people. Would definitely come back.

We were immediately seated by a very friendly man who said they are always open on Christmas and find it's a really busy day for them - and within the time we were there he ended up completely full. He was very friendly, the space itself quirky but cute and the wines were nice. They allow you to order food from the Thai restaurant next door and enjoy it while doing your tasting. He definitely got busy and could have used an extra hand so it took a bit to close out but we get it - a holiday and one of the only spots open in town.

Unlike most tasting rooms in Paso, including many of the downtown ones, they are open nice and late - 8pm most nights and 9pm on Friday and Saturday. They primarily serve reds (with a rosé available for tasting while we were in, and a white available by the bottle only) and specialize in Spanish varietals. I really liked the educational sheets they had about the Paso Robles AVA, and the map of the different districts. Wines weren't our absolute favorite, but we did end up getting a bottle of one of their garnacha's to bring home! Hope to come back and try their Albariño sometime and maybe do a glass/bottle over a tasting.
