We experienced one of the best meals in a while. I ordered the beef stroganoff; it was a special that night . It was delish! The beef was so tender. The chief came around and greeted us and is very personable. We were given a sample of some pasta,cheese and prosciutto and don't remember the name . That was amazing and I don't use that word often . The only negative is that it is pretty loud there with almost full seating so carrying on a conversation at your table can be difficult. We stopped in tonight hoping to sneak in for dinner and ended up getting lucky to get a table. Service was wonderful, Ashley was spot on for us. Very nice wine list. The chopped salad was wonderland just right for sharing. Bread and cheese was a fantastic start to the meal. Dinner was butternut ravioli and pappardelle were both fantastic. The salmon was nicely flavored, slightly under for me (but not enough to have me send it back). The side of cabbage, potatoes and roasted tomato was wonderful. We have been here twice now. If there is a restaurant in the area that truly deserves 5 stars this is it! Excellent authentic Italian food that is comparable to the food we had in Tuscany and Umbria back in May. Spaghetti and meatballs was good, but no salad came meal. Lasagna was also good. Two slices of bread, some cheese, no olive oil or spices to dip bread. After meal cookies were delicious cheesecake was also delicious, but $12 per slice. Server was great. read more

We are going there for Mother's Day Saturday night. We have enjoyed our visits at D'Amlcl Ristorante. Food-delicious, Service-Excellent. The wait staff is experienced. They friendly without being overly friendly, they know when to come to check on the needs of table. Owners are available for any questions. Prices are a bit high. People have committed of the lack sides, salads not being included. I think they probably do not complain at Morton or Ruth's Chris (both places I have a not so great meal) for the same thing. read more

I'd give five stars, but, like other reviews, I'll be more direct and say that the acoustics are a real problem. Wait staff and patrons alike were required to repeat. Impressive. Our first visit and certainly not our last. Staff were very attentive. The food was very good. We had the ravioli and veal. Presentation was top notch.. they know how to capture your attention with their cheese samples and focaccia bread. Only drawback was it can get noisy. Wow! Best Italian food in this area for sure. Superior customer service, customer focused. The chef is from Northern Italy so this is complete authentic Northern Italian food. AMAZING. This is a very welcoming professional resturant. The fact that the chef comes out and greets customers at the end of the night is fabulous. One improvement could be to lower the sound level, some rugs or plants or sound absorbing panels would greatly improve the sound level of talking. So happy this place is here! read more

Chicken Marsala was delish, actually close to the best I've ever had. Bread is offered before the meal, but no side dish with the chicken. No pasta, no potatoes. Spinach or asparagus (I think) are add-ons. Service was good. I didn't mind the noise. read more

As locals, and as others have said, we wanted to love it but sadly it was a one and done for us. Ambience is the same as it was when it was a breakfast and lunch place. Spending $171 for 2 I'd expect a fine dining experience. The wait staff was wonderful so I have nothing bad to say there. The big wheel of cheese was a let down. Looks impressive and was tasty but we got one little piece each. Wasn't worth the effort. Bread was good but we were served exactly 2 pieces and they were soaked with oil. I'd prefer to season my own bread thank you very much. Btw no salt or pepper on the dimly lit table. We split the wedge salad. That was the highlight of our meal even though the pancetta was a bit chewy and not crispy. On to the entrees...hubs got the linguine mare (shellfish). He wanted to sub with angel hair but they don't have that so he ended up with spaghetti and not a lot of it. He asked for grated cheese. He got it but was told the chef would be very unhappy if he saw it. The shellfish was all mushy and overcooked. (Btw we were one of the first meals served for the evening). He also had to man handle the colossal shrimp to get them out of their shells and legs, especially since they were overcooked and not tender. I had the chicken Milanese. No flavor to the barely there dressing on the arugula. The chicken was breaded like a hush puppy and deep fried. It was hard and oily. I was expecting breaded, pan fried chicken. Oh well. I wish I could give a glowing review but this place is not worth it. Hostess asked how our meal was and my brutally honest husband said he would change a few things. Namely the shrimp being too hands on. (He was being nice) and the small portion of pasta. He was told that's the way the chef does it. Again one and done and won't be telling our friends. read more

Oh how I wanted to love this place but alas, we won't be returning. Gotta say, great attention by wait and kitchen staff. Besides that it's a big wanna-be :( Wants to be a higher-end dining experience but there are several things lacking: the atmosphere remains plain and un-luxurious. When I'm paying $26 for a bowl of (meatless) pasta I want the ambiance to justify that. More below. The menu is genuine Italian but pricey, and no reliable Americanized favorites to be found. I hope Chef/owner knows what he's marketing here, definitely narrowing the client base. Kudos for the extensive wine list but NO bread on the table, just four 1-inch blocks of oil soaked foccacia. The sides are extra! Imagine ordering a piece of salmon for $36 that arrives to the table solo. Would you do that to dinner guests in your home? C'mon, a twist of some yummy aglio olio spaghetti (which we all know costs about 50 cents in the kitchen) and a cool cucumber salad (another 50 cents) would've gone a LONG way, chef. There's a large visually impressive cheese wheel that's rolled around the room. You get a one-time sliver of delicious (don't remember the name) cheese with a wonderful buttery nut-like taste... but you're left wanting more and the server has moved on. Loved our bread pudding dessert, enough for hubs & me to share. The room is cavernous, like other diners have pointed out. You can hear everyone else's conversations, no dividers. There must be a way to ameliorate this. No tablecloths. Chairs/decor lackluster, bathroom sconces on the walls. They should have kicked it up a few notches and sprung for nicer sconces, small chandeliers and some soft-playing opera music which would make a huge difference in ambiance. IMO tacky dried spaghetti strands as a 'centerpiece' doesn't cut it. All that said, we wish this new restaurant the best of luck and hope it endures. With love from two locals. read more

I'm honestly stunned when I see this place has anything less than 5 stars from others! The food is sooo good- appetizers, meals, deserts are all top notch so much so that we went 2 weeks in a row. The prices are posted - are they expensive maybe a little but is the meal totally worth it? Yes!! The back room is a little loud but that doesn't alter the fact that this is the best food in OIB bar none!! It may be one of my favorite places to eat in NC! I love veal but only will get it from authentic Italian places and the scallopini here is amazing!! The chateaubriand melts in your mouth. Homemade deserts are the best. Ask the wait staff for recommendations. I just hope that it doesn't become so crowded I can't get in to eat when ppl find out about it. The fact that the reviews are on par with other average at best places in the area is mind blowing- this is hands down the best food in the area read more

Well, this was a surprise- no longer looks like a pizza /breakfast joint. The owners have done a wonderful job making D'Amici feel warm and inviting. Not your typical Italian fare. What a gem! The service was great. We enjoyed meeting the owners/chef. The food was amazing, very authentic Northern Italian cuisine. The fresh bread served with a fresh cut wedge of Grana Padano cheese is a nice touch to start your meal. Don't miss the prosciutto rosettes on the appetizer menu- they are incredible! They are still working on sound issues, could use some sound buffers, but definitely worthy of a visit! I know we will be back very soon! read more
