Had dinner with family. 4 of us. Each had a different meal. All were delicious. Chicken parm, shrimp and scallop aglio, lobster raviolis, and stuffed shells. With an appetizer of the bruschetta. Being from New York, I often find it difficult to find good Italian food in the south. This spot knocked my socks off though, what a pleasant surprise! The restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall by Food Lion. The bread was so fresh and tasty, we greatly enjoyed it. Drinks were good, service was attentive and our meals were yummy. All around a wonderful experience. This is a popular spot too....Our first visit was in January 2024, we tried to come back on a Friday night in March, but unfortunately the only reservations available were for 8 pm. We always have a great time at La Cucina. This was my mother's favorite restaurant so whenever we come out to visit Dad we make sure we have a reservation. The last two time we went our server was Karina (if I got that slightly wrong I apologize). She remembered us from our previous visit and joked around with us a bit. Our dinners were, once again, excellent. Dad had lasagna, and a good portion of that for a leftover. My husband had the chicken a la vodka and also had a nice portion to take home. I ordered slightly off menu and had shrimp fra diablo with mushrooms and cherry peppers. I ordered the level 6 heat and it was perfect. The shrimp were so good that I ended up eating them all, but I have a nice portion of pasta, mushroom and peppers leftover. Come with an appetite, everything here is belissimo! read more

Make a reservation! This is a smaller restaurant but worth it. When you walk in you immediately can smell the delicious food and know it will be good. The bread is garlicky and hot and soo good (get more). Everything came out pretty quickly and hot. I had the scallops and shrimp in champagne sauce and it was delicious it is my go to meal! My Valentine drove us from Myrtle Beach to NC just for a dinner date here. The restaurant inside is small but inviting and well decorated. There were many locals there that night who seemed to be regulars and even suggested certain things on the menu before our waiter came. They were all raving about the bread and they were absolutely right. This has to be the best starter bread I've ever had at a restaurant. They do not serve it with with oil/balsamic vinegar like most Italian places do, but I was not complaining. The top of the bread is very well seasoned, not at all bland, and there is fresh oil being absorbed through the top of the bread. It was so good we ended having three whole loaves. For our appetizer we shared the fried raviolis. Each serving comes with five pieces and fresh marinara sauce. Filling was nice and creamy, pasta had a nice crunch and was well seasoned. The sauce is great too and we dipped some of the bread in it as well. I ended up ordering the veal saltimbocca and my partner ordered the chicken alfredo. This is THE BEST v.s. I have had thus far compared to other high Italian restaurants I've had the same dish at. It was absolutely delicious all the components worked so well together. When a place gets flavor even down to the mushrooms I know the dish is a winner. The veal was thin, crispy, seasoned, and you're given an extremely generous portion. Most v.s. are served with angel hair to soak up more of the sauce, this location uses fettuccine which still holds up the sauce and has a thicker, chewier bite that works very well with the meat and vegetables accompanying it. The waiter also shreds all the fresh parmesan you would desire. We were too full for dessert but we will definitely be visiting again soon to try more offerings. I highly recommend you visit this restaurant as soon as you can! read more

Wow. Why have we waited so long to try this place out? Not sure how long it's been around, but have been visiting Sunset (now homeowners) for 30 years and just never gave it a try! Started with the bread I've read about on here and it did not disappoint! Ordered a side of marinara to dip it in and it was delicious. I was going back and forth between the chicken parmigiana and chicken piccata. Ended up ordering the piccata and it was really good (and "light"), but hindsight I wish I would have done the parm. It was a tad bland and the sauce was not what I was expecting - but still a good dish. My friend ordered the Gorganzola Shrimp and loved it. Very rich, but our waitress mentioned that so no surprise there ... but the taste was perfecto. We will definitely be back to try more menu options! Took a menu to-go to keep at our Sunset rental. Enjoyed a very, very good Italian dinner last night. LaCucina is the real thing. We ordered the fried calamari and stuffed mushroom appetizer for the table. The calamari was light and delicious as was the mushroom. The eggplant parmigiana was out of this world as was the "sauce" one of the best I've tasted. Nathen our server was attentive and on top of everything. I am of a very strict Italian upbringing and can say that this is as close to my grandmother and mother's cooking as I have ever gotten. We had dinner at this amazing restaurant tonight to celebrate my husbands birthday. This was our second time eating here and we liked it so much the first time we brought friends with us to try it out. They loved it as much as we did. The food is the best Italian food I have ever eaten. The pork chops were outstanding. The mussels and clams were so good. The Caesar salad was delicious. Karina was our server and she was great. We've been coming here for the past few years during our vacations in sunset beach and it's always been a great experiences. The building itself is a bit small so waits may increase on busy nights, but even then we've been able to get a great table and great service with our party. The warm bread is a highlight to start the dinner. Their wine and drinks options are great also.
