We shared a Cuban loaded with ham, and could have used a bit more roast pork, but I was not disappointed. Everything was there for makings of a great Cuban. They've also incorporated a good selection of hot foods ready for plating or to-go. New tables and chairs have been added for a sit down for a quick bite. The restroom is clean but a second one would be useful. After our meal, the owner offered a fresh Cafecito sample and spoke with us about how she'd recently taken over for the previous tenets who'd been at this location for 38 years. Day 2 of the new job in Ybor and this is my second Cuban sandwich. This spot was recommended by a friend as it has been in business for quite some time. This was a busy place. I was there less than 3 minutes and watched them sell 20 Cubans to all the working guys running in for a quick meal. The sandwich was already made so I just took it back to my office. They only serve food to go as there is no place to sit. I got back and unwrapped the sandwich only to find lettuce and tomato on it. My Cuban buddy said if you see lettuce, run the other way . I tried the sandwich and it wasn't bad for a ham sandwich. The roast pork was sliced rather than pulled on this one, and very sparse. It wasn't a bad sandwich, but it wasn't what I had in mind for a Cuban. The croquetas were on point. This one wasn't my favorite, but I was happy I got to try it. Yes it is out of the way and located in the industrial port section of Tampa. Go look at some ships or visit the shrimp docks while you're in the area! Yes it is a small hole-in-the-wall local place (which in my opinion already makes it a must try). The place gets busy so you know it's good! They have breakfast options and many other sandwich options which unfortunately I have never tried as I am always chowing the cuban.
