Zero stars really. They hire young kids to move stuff. Damaged thousands of dollars worth of furniture. One piece of furniture never even made it which makes me think they damaged it and ditched it or stole it. Whatever the case, they are horrible and not to be trusted. read more

When hiring movers, it can be a nightmare because you have no idea what you're getting into until they arrive. However, upon meeting them on arrival, I liked them! I had 4 guys. They were professional, courteous and fast! There was a flat rate for 3 hours (typical move), and $100 each additional hour. They didn't drag their feet or good off, so they could try to get extra money! They are good people, and all my furniture, etc., arrived safely without anything being broken because they took care to wrap items that needed it. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with D & D Moving and Storage was pretty terrible. Two broken items, a missing couch leg, and very late reply time from the manager. I had to hire other movers to deliver my items from the storage unit to my home the day of because they had vehicle issues. When the other movers arrived, they found the truck with my belongings unlocked with no one around on the side of the road. My items were never shrink wrapped, and several items were missing. I had to look through their storage facilities to find that one of my large framed pictures had the glass shattered (I was never notified). I also found another framed picture and chair that I was missing lying in miscellaneous places. If you want your items to be protected, find another location. I'll make a post once I find other locally owned moving and storage companies that I'd recommend. Best to check with the Better Business Bureau first. I'll be speaking with them shortly. read more

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. Let me start out by saying I don't write bad reviews, nor have I ever in my life gotten into a verbal altercation with anyone before I had this incident talking to the owner of this company, Damian. I hired this company 3 weeks ago to move me out of my home. With the move scheduled for 3 days from now, I called to confirm everything was set up and the price we agreed upon during our earlier conversation. I was informed by Damian that there would be an additional fee to dispose of some furniture I needed disposed of. This was not our agreed upon cost, which I had confirmed 3 weeks ago with him several times. When I verbalized my frustration at the discrepancy Damian began to raise his voice, suggest that I was insulting and verbally lashIng out at me over the phone before cancelling my move. I am shaken from the most unprofessional interaction i have ever had. Please save yourself the worry, time, money and find a company that doesn't harass customers or behave beyond reproach. You don't want these people handling your belongings I promise you. read more

I was rather put off when I saw some of the previous negative reviews. But in a pinch this was the only company that was highly responsive to my problem --getting a 250-plus pound Nordictrack treadmill base from my garage to my basement quickly. I got my estimate Monday along with four or five others. This was one of two companies that could do the job in the next couple days. D&D was a good bit pricier than the other one, but responded more promptly on Tuesday when I needed to finalize arrangements. Three guys showed up on Wednesday, handled the move in minutes and asked if I had any other related moving needs while they were there. (I didn't, but appreciated the offer.) Extremely bad experience. Being that I live out of state, I scheduled a remote move for my mom. I called and scheduled the move a month in advance. I gave a DETAILED explanation of the items that would need to be moved, disassembled / reassembled, the location of my mom's apartment and the destination of the move. I was assured that this would be a relatively quick job and quoted a price of approx. $480 for three hours with a THREE MAN team and a LARGE truck. Along with this scheduling, I gave my mom's contact information so that she can be reached upon arrival. A week before the move, I called again to confirm my appointment and got reassured that everything is set and the move is good to go. Mind you, we're on a strict schedule due to the freight elevator lockdown within my mom's apartment - there's a 3 hour limit, so I wanted to be sure that times would match up. The day of the move comes - the movers are late and my mom calls me stressed. I call their office and I'm told they were not able to get in contact with my mom, so the movers went to get breakfast. I proceed with giving my mom's number again and I'm told that they would be back within the hour. I call my mom to let her know and she has to adjust the time slot for the freight elevator. Another TWO hours pass and the movers finally show up. There's only TWO men and a SMALL van - this is unacceptable. I call the office to see why there were changes in the agreed arrangement and got some lame excuse about scheduling and booking issues - how is this a problem when I went out of my way to schedule this ONE MONTH in advance? The movers begin the move - my mom calls and tells me that they're having problems with dissembling her furniture because they don't have the correct tools. So, the manager comes to delivers tools that were from the dollar store - unacceptable. By this time approx. SEVEN hours have passed and they haven't finished moving my mom - whom, again, lives in a 1 bedroom apartment. My mom calls again and tells me that some of her picture frames were broken and that she overheard the conversation with the movers manager. According to her, he says something along the lines of "If you're not finished soon then just leave her stuff and if she doesn't want to pay we'll keep it". I call again and hear another round of bs, but at this point I just want them to finish moving my mom's stuff. They eventually leave that day, without completing the move, and my mom tells me that they said that they will return tomorrow to finish. At this point, I'm beyond disbelief that my mom's 1 bedroom apartment - which was initially quoted to take THREE hours - takes TWO days. Day two arrives, I call my mom to check-in and see how she's doing; of course, she's stressed, frustrated, and has no idea what time they will arrive to finish moving. I call the office again and I'm told that the movers will be arriving shortly. This time, however, money gets thrown into the picture. The manager goes on to tell me that this is approx. a TWELVE hour move and the initial $480 doesn't suffice since that would equate to the company paying for moving my mom. I go on to address all of the reasons why, quite frankly, we shouldn't pay them at all but I kept getting excuses. I eventually asked how much they're expecting and was quoted for an additional $400. I agreed to pay it, just to avoid conflict - One, since I'm out of state and can't take the time to bring it to small claims. Two, my mom did mention that the two movers were nice and did as best as they could, so it was the office at fault here. Eventually the move was complete - they didn't reassemble my mom's tv, it's still unhooked - and my mom paid the $880. However, she just told me that the movers called her and said they were never paid for the job. This was a complete and utter disappointment. It's really sad for me since I'm from Detroit and wanted to support local business. I've hired movers plenty of times in my current state and they've had stellar service. I relocated and needed a cheap used office desk so went to see the inventory and found something suitable. Got a great price after a bit negotiation, paid, and received a receipt. No playing around. Local delivery was part of the deal and they went out of their way to deliver the desk the same day. Delivery was done very carefully even though the desk barely fit and no damage to the house was done. Will definitely do business with again. read more

If you are planning to move and you have saved up the budget to do I definitely recommend D&D Moving and Storage Company. They we're professional (not one wall scratch or one item dinged), the were courteous and respectful, they are reasonably priced...all the other companies I checked with we're rediculously over priced and they we're punctual. I will no longer be moving my own stuff any more. This was the first time I ever used a moving company because all of my friends used them and it was just common they are expensive and sometimes not mindful of your belongings. Well this is not the case for D&D Moving and Storage...use them and you will never want to move your own things again and will never need to inquire with any other moving companies. I've learned from the experience of others and was happy I made this choice. Thank you D&D Moving....for making this experience pleasant! I'm only giving 1 star because this is the lowest available. I would prefer to give no stars! Extremely slow and unprofessional. The crew spent a great deal of time arguing. We started with a three man crew and ended with two. We all left my apartment around 2:20 pm and they did not arrive to my new home until about 5:00 pm. It's at most a40 minute drive. I had been home over a hour when I called the owner and he explained that traffic was moving slow. I didn't buy it so I asked the crew what happened to them and they said they had to drop the third guy off at school and were trying to pick someone else up to help but it didn't work out! To make matters worst it took them 2 more hours to unload every time and they broke the leg off our armoire. It can't be replaced and breaks my heart to lose this integral piece to our bedroom set .
