The woman cleaning did an okay job, however she was EXTREMELY careless with my roommate's belongings. A few hours after she left, we realized that she threw out some sentimental cards, letters, and photos that were sitting on her desk (attached photo). These are so obviously NOT trash, I really can't think of a good reason she would do this. Unfortunately, after digging through our building's trash, she is still missing some letters from her family. Hoping this means the cleaning woman just stuck them in some obscure spot in her desk or bookshelf we haven't found yet. I wish giving 0 stars was an option. I had a "deep cleaning" today but was really just left with a broken shower door that is going to cost hundreds of dollars to fix. My maintenance man said he had never seen something like this in the 30 years he has worked at my building. The lack of response and concern from this company is awful. Not even a phone in response to this disaster. Now I cant even use my shower until someone from the shower door company can come out next week. Save your money, time, and energy. I do not recommend this cleaning service. I've tried calling twice, emailing, and have gotten no luck with a response; so maybe posting in a public forum will help. I scheduled a cleaning for yesterday, Sept 19th 2019, at 12PM for my 2 BR apt and requested Vilma Vera as a friend recommended her. I scheduled it two weeks in advance, took time off work to let in the cleaner, and bought extra cleaning supplies. The cleaner was assigned was changed to Blanca Quito, which is unfortunate, but I understand occurs when it is a one-time cleaning. For reference, I would have signed up for a reoccurring monthly cleaning, but I wanted to try out the services first. I showed Blanca the apartment when she arrived, discussed the areas I wanted cleaned, and asked if she had any questions. I asked her if she needed me to go buy a broom for cleaning, her she said yes, so I went to Duane Reade and purchased a broom. I left her my phone number and said to please call with any questions, and I went back to work as I had to take time off to let her in, only midday appointments were available. I came back to my apartment last evening after work, and to say I was infuriated with the dismal performance would be an understatement. Kitchen counters were not cleaned, floors had debris on them and clearly not vacuumed, the rug in my bedroom still had dirt on it and clearly not vacuumed, surfaces were not properly wiped down, and in the shower, surfaces still had dirt on them that I could wipe off with a finger easily. I've attached photos of just some of MANY areas that were not properly cleaned. The broom I went out to buy her that she requested still had plastic on it, clearly not used!!! I asked her to change my sheets. She did so but then placed them in the other room's laundry basket, which was my roommates. Why would you move things from one room to another and not tell me, and mix my property with someone else's is beyond me, and it is unacceptable. My roommate thought it was another's dirty laundry. I took 2 hours off of work, paid money, and came back to a dirty apartment. I have had professional cleaners in the past, so I know what a professional cleaning is supposed to look like, this did not even come close to a professional level job. Bad cleaning job in general (food all over stove, half cleaned bathroom) which is somewhat to expect with this service in general but I was in a bind. I realized my retainers were missing from their usual spot. I texted Danny assuming whoever cleaned would tell me where my retainers were, & if she accidentally vacuumed/threw them out could she check the vacuum bc she used her own. Obviously didn't think they were stolen nor was I going to lose my mind over this, as life is hard enough and goes on and I'd be okay. But he wouldn't answer my MULTIPLE calls or texts. I finally sent this and got a very aggressive response. He ended up ignoring me, never telling me what his employee said & I had to buy new retainers. All without any communication with the business. There's gotta be some fake 5 star reviews written by the agency itself. Yikes!! Used same rag to clean floors on my kitchen counters!!! If you're looking for a full deep cleaning this is not the place to get that kind of service. Even if you pay the extra deep cleaning fee- which I did. The window ledges were still black with dust, my kitchen counter still sticky and they said they would clean the corners in a deep clean- there was still lint, hair and black grime in the corners. Please see my picture so you can see what I'm talking about. I am normally not an anal person and have used plenty of cleaning services in the past- I used this one because they were so cheap but hey you get what you pay for and it clearly showed in this case. The woman that came- her name is vilma Vera and the agency said she's supposed to be one of the best they have. When I showed her the black grime left behind she started mumbling and rolling her eyes and it made me very uncomfortable. My place was also very easy to clean because I was moving in so no clutter or furniture- it was a completely empty apartment. They said it was because I didn't provide a mop- I called the day before and asked what I had to provide. I was never told to provide a mop. And anyways that isn't an excuse because she actually did have a mop- she pulled it out when I requested to re-mop the floors. That still also doesn't explain the filth left on the windows and kitchen counter. I have a baby who is a crawler. He would've found all sorts of dust bunnies and hairs in the corners to eat up. Do not use this company. I requested a deep clean of my apartment, paid extra for the windows, and nothing was done. Didn't even use the cleaning products I left out, windows weren't touched, threw the mop in my closet on top of my shoes, and the bathroom wasn't touched. This is a scam. On top of all that, Danny wouldn't respond to me at first, not once answered my phone call. I requested my money back and was told the policy is they'll send someone back to touch up what wasn't done. Couldn't be more disappointed in D&J. First, I've used D&J off and on again for the last 5-6 years. Daniel was always great up until recently... where I feel like he has no idea what's going on. Long story short, we booked two housekeepers for three hours and we received about half of that time and the worst cleaning effort possible. We were very explicit about the time we wanted them to come and expectations on the type of cleaning we needed. We agreed on a price and communicated all the details over text so everything was in writing. Our first housekeeper showed up 30 minutes before our booking, the second housekeeper an hour later. They both decided to leave at the same time... again an hour and half earlier then what we paid for. They did an awful job, had nothing but attitude (Le tchip) the whole time, muttered complaints in Spanish anytime we asked them to be a little more thorough and we ultimately had to battle them and Daniel's partner for 20 minutes on the phone about what we agreed to before we decided to just cut them loose. I reached out to Daniel right away hoping to get this addressed. He didn't respond till the following day, when I explained to him what happened and hoped to have a resolution ASAP he went dark for three days until I reached out to him again. He then acted like he had no idea what happened and offered no solution. Basically had no recollection of what we agreed to even though all he had to do was scroll up and read the prior texts. Even when I explained to him how many times I've used his service, or how many people I've referred to him over the years... and even let him know that my sister uses his service every other week he still didn't make this a priority. Now she's cancelling too, so he didn't just lose one customer. Shame on you D&J for making such an easy solve an awful experience. If you're thinking about using D&J I recommend you look elsewhere. D&J has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was supposed to have my apartment cleaned earlier this week. There was a mixup with the key which I take full responsibility for and apologize for. After 10 min I provided instructions to my building and granted access. However, D&J left and did not notify me they were not coming. I sent two follow up e-mails and no one responded to me. I just gave Daniel a friendly call to ask what happened, and he kept screaming "it's your fault! why are you coming down on us?" to which i politely told him that it is common curtesy to notify the customer if you are leaving. He said he didn't have to do that, which is so incredibly rude. I will never use D&J again and will encourage people to do the same. read more

I decided to try these guys out as it was recommended by a friend. Scheduling: Super easy and completed online. They lay out the prices right on their website. I have a 1 bedroom and selected a regular clean. I decided to also add on a Deep Cleaning (cleaning of the fridge and more attention given to the floors). Note that they charge an extra $10 if you live in Brooklyn. This is not stated on their website but noted in their email confirmation. Delivery of service: Despite all the reviews I will say the cleaner showed up within the hour I had booked for. Before she started, I tried to explain what I needed particular attention paid to but the cleaner spoke zero English. I thus assumed she was informed from the notes I left when I booked my appointment. The cleaning was adequate but seemed very rushed. When I noticed she didn't perform the the Deep Cleaning that I tacked on for an extra $20 I tried to explain to her the best I could that this was not completed. The fact she spoke no English didn't help. It also didn't help that she was hurriedly trying to get out of the apartment. Customer Satisfaction: I reached out to customer service via phone and couldn't reach anyone. I then emailed asking to have someone come back and complete the Deep Cleaning option I paid for. Unfortunately, no response. Final Thoughts: Definitely better choices out there for house cleaning. When you pay $100 for a service and get $50 in value you feel pretty cheated. For starters, the cleaning woman left after 2 hours when I had paid for 2.5. The cleaning woman also did not speak English, so I was unable to communicate with her about what she had and hadn't cleaned and if she had her own cleaning supplies. I paid for the move-in service and the fridge was not wiped out, oven was not cleaned, cabinets were not cleaned out, etc. I am extremely disappointed by the service I received. Worst company ever. I scheduled a cleaning through email and it said like this: Good Afternoon, I would like to book a studio cleaning for my studio. Is there anyone available tomorrow or Thursday? Studio: $40 Fridge: $5 Windows: $10 Sheets: $5 I don't need oven this time. I just want to make sure they wash, dry and put back my sheets, duvet and pillow cases. I think it will need to be 2 loads of laundry because the duvet won't fit with the sheets in the washing machine. __________ As they charge extra for fridge windows etc I was super specific. The person came to my house washed the pillowcases and the basic sheets, left the duvet untouched, didn't TOUCH the house, floor, furniture, bathroom and left... then I get a text from Daniel saying: She cleaned the sheets and the oven what did she miss? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! D&J was schedule for a 3 pm appt. Upon arrival my roommate clearly asked them to not clean one room out of the 3 brd room apt. Despite these clear instructions, the one room was not only cleaned but things in the room were thrown out. In fact, the house cleaner called her supervisor and was told to clean the room disregarding the customer's request. Additionally, its been 24 hours since my initial phone call to the company regarding this blatant disregard for the customer's request and I haven't heard back yet. Looks like the customer isn't always right for this company! UPDATE: Instead of calling customers back, this company prefers to TEXT you! After 2 phone calls, the company texts me asking "Can you let me know what was missed?" The text doesn't let me know who I am talking to so it could be computer for all I know. When the situation was explained, I was told the company doesn't do refunds and will send someone to the apt to touch up. Apparently, they planned to unclean the room they were asked to not clean in this first place. After, the mysterious texter realized how ridiculous it sounds, it started bargaining for a refund amount... starting with $10 and maxing out at $20. And when it was pointed out that their website says $50 for 1 bed/1bath. I was told its "best you find another company" This company should not be in the customer service industry. For the first time in over a year, I felt it was necessary to ask for this and specifically listed the items that were missed. I used D&J in December of 2008 and they were fine. They sent two ladies to my apartment and they did an okay job. I expected a bit more, but it was my first time using a cleaning service. Then a few weeks ago I tried to use them again. I called Daniel (D of D&J I assume) and we set up a time for 2 pm on Saturday. I had a party planned at my place on Sunday, and plans Saturday night. No one showed. I tried calling numerous times but never got an answer, or a return call on my message. They really put me in a bind and I would never recommend them to anyone. Prices are affordable and the cleaners (especially Sandra) are great, however, I am leaving two stars for the following reasons: - The cleaner ripped the wood in my floors when she moved the couch to clean behind it. This resulted in our landlord not returning our security deposit in whole. - After I vacated my apartment, D & J Cleaning Services continued to auto-charge my card. I texted the owner (Daniel) twice and he did not respond. As a result, I had to open a credit card dispute with my bank which is still in the process of being resolved. - I heard from a friend that D & J Cleaning Services fired one of their cleaners after she requested to take time off. My friend continued to employ the cleaner independently because she felt bad for her and the situation she was in. I honestly haven't found anyone better than D & J Cleaning Services in terms of prices but the above issues severely soured my overall experience with D & J Cleaning Services and I probably wouldn't use them again if I moved back to NYC. read more

I"m giving this 2 stars because 85% of the times I've used them, I've had pretty good service. It's only over the last 1-2 months that I've really had issues. It has gone downhill TREMENDOUSLY. If I was rating them just on the past 2 months, they'd easily get 1 star, even 0 if that was a possibility. I've already cancelled all further appointments and will not be using the service moving forward. For the past 2 years almost I'd used D&J as a cleaning service and had no problems. To a point where I actually recommended them to a friend. But lately, it's just been a total mess. I'm not sure what the case has been or if anything has changed, but my last 5 cleanings or more, were just all over the place. As some other people have said, not all the cleaning people are great cleaners and it shows. Thinking back on the incidents: - 1 of them showed up without ID, and couldn't be let into my apartment to clean it so they had to send someone else. - There have been 2 different times that they were so insanely not on time that I'm lucky to have a doorman. And it's one thing to be a little late, but these women were 7 hrs early. They showed up at 9 AM for a 3PM appointment. And nobody communicated to me that they were showing up at a different time than I expected them to. The email that I got said that my appointment was at 3 PM. - One of the cleaners that I had left wet and dirty rags that she had used to clean the apartment on my couch and I found them when I came home - My belongings are just randomly placed wherever they feel like it sometimes making it difficult to find, or causing issues with opening and closing drawers. (For example: my hair dryer was put in my bedroom clothes closet. I get you want to put it away, but why not the bathroom cabinet which would be the logical place). - The girls don't speak enough English for me to be able to give them basic instructions on what to do and not to do. After all of this I reached out to Danny (the owner?) on two different occasions to tell him that I had an issue with the girl cleaning my apartment and the quality of work that was being done. I didn't get a response back either time. At that point I was fed up. I wasn't going to pay all this money to get my apartment done worse than I could do it and for more money. So I told him that I was cancelling all further appointments. That was when I finally got a response back from him. And it was "I'm sorry about this. I will cancel all appointment. Best of luck." Sorry doesn't cut it. I told him that and was offered "a deep cleaning for the price of a regular cleaning" which would be great, if they could handle even a regular cleaning. Since they can't handle that, why would I take anything more than that. Echoing everyone else's sentiments, it seems like there is some issues that need to be handled here. First time using D&J and first time paying for a cleaner in NY. They are very affordable! Lucy showed up 10 minutes early (West Village apartment) which was fab! I wasn't really sure on how it would go as she didn't speak English so I couldn't tell her what I wanted done.... When I came home, I was pleasantly surprised!! The place was extremely clean - she did a great job with wiping down surfaces, cleaning the floor and an awesome job in the bathroom. I'd def use her again and recommend her to others. read more

They usually do a pretty good job for a fair pice, but thy screwed up once big time and I can't do business with them anymore or recommend them to anyone. We've been using them every 6ish weeks for a year with happy results. However, one day when they were cleaning I remembered that my fiancé had left something of high sentimental importance out. We usually hid this so it wouldn't be accidentally discarded because it looks like an old piece of cloth. This time we forgot which was our fault, but what happened after was not. I called Daniel to warn him about this item and to call the person cleaning to tell her to keep an eye out for it. He assured me that it would be fine and he spoke to the person who was still at our apartment and it was all good. Of course as you can tell by the 2 star rating that all was not fine. We couldn't find the missing item and tore the apartment apart looking for it. We even went through the trash of our entire apartment building to see if she threw it out. The next day thy sent the person out again to show us that nothing was thrown out that wasn't trash, but once she saw a picture of what we were looking for she realized that he did in fact toss it out. We have a small apartment but it gets filthy. Filthy! We found D&J and decided to give it a try. Well, Lucy came to our apt and 3hours later she finished. I can say I've never had a better clean of any apartment that I've lived in for the past 15 years. So, we decided to give it a try on a more regular basis and each time is just as good. We are so amazed by how meticulous they are with every inch. I mean she mopped UNDER my rug! We are now hooked!. I've been using D&J Cleaning Services for over two years for bi-weekly cleaning for my 1-bedroom apartment. I adore my current cleaner, Susanna. She's been with me for a while, knows my apartment and preferences, and does an awesome job. 5 stars for Susanna! Overall, D&J is a good service with very competent staff. In the past two years, I have had a few small hiccups where cleaners get switched or someone arrives who doesn't speak English. I'm sure I'm like most people--I can be picky about the way my apartment is cleaned. But I've never had a problem that couldn't be resolved fairly quickly. Daniel is terrific at addressing issues or changing my bi-weekly schedule when needed. The company is available by phone, email or text and Daniel responds quickly. The prices are fair and every cleaner who's come has been professional, hard working and on time, even during major snow storms or very hot summer days. I'm not sure how most cleaners work but D&J staff bring their own vacuum cleaner and some of their own supplies. I prefer certain cleansers for some things (like the bathroom) so I have supplies on hand. Susanna let's me know when something is running out so I can get it for next time which is a nice plus. Before finding D&J I used individual cleaning people. The individual cleaners were inconsistent; if the cleaner was sick I was out of luck that week. D&J provides consistency without charging an arm and a leg. Highly recommend. read more

Here's a few points to consider when booking their services: 1) Stick to specific persons. When you're new to the company, you won't know who to ask. Book them a few times and once you've found your person, stick to them like glue - you won't be disappointed. 2) Their customer service is a bit of a hit and miss. Email confirmations won't get sent sometimes and you have to remind them to confirm appointments.
