I called their dispatch after half an hour and again after an hour and a half, both times they reassured me I would receive a call from the driver soon. After 2 hours I finally received a call from the driver letting me know that he was only staying local tonight after initially being told by dispatch that they would be able to tow me. This tow company is a crook. I was shopping at StonesTown mall and my vehicle was towed. I arrived at the mall at 10:00 and left the mall at 1112. Just as I was going to my car, I saw this towing company towing my vehicle. So I ran to the guy and called him out. I told him I was out buying gifts at the mall and I even had receipts to show him. The guy then tells me, "oh I have a picture of you leaving the premises, and since you left you are liable to be towed for using the parking lot" Either you pay now or you pay at the towing company when you pick it up. As much as I wanted to argue back and forth with the guy, I had a doctor's appointment at 1200 and I couldn't be late. So I just paid the guy and got my car back. Karma will get you. I had a spoken directly to GM of AAA Roadside Dept. and according to them they have received multiple very poor score survey for their service as well in the past. An AAA dispatched company that is entirely AWFUL and worst customer service I've ever dealt with. They came to my house and ended up causing further damage on a small plastic covering piece within my engine. They covered it up when they were finished and showing me the work so I didn't notice. Then later when trying to contact the company they ignored my multiple calls, emails with photo evidence. Literally ghosted by a company and even hung up on when they did answer once. Unfortunately there's nothing AAA can do to fix it you have to deal with the company and this one is the worst and needs to be reported. read more

As I was leaving work walking to my car, I noticed what seemed to be an individual trying to break into my car. Long story short, a gentleman had called for a tow truck service (D&M Towing) because he had locked himself out of his car (apparently the exact same model/color as mine) I explained that there must be a mistake because that is my car. The tow truck driver stated that the gentleman described the car and gave him the last 3 digits of the license plate number. What process do you guys go through before helping a customer our with their "locked car" issue? I am pretty sure stating the last 3 digits of the license plate is not enough. My truck started overheating in San Francisco so I called AAA . About 45 minutes later Lou showed up from D&M towing . He came and said he couldn't go out of the area ( My tow is 67 miles ) and that he called a different company to come get it. I told him that's fine I'll call AAA back and he said they already know , I said that's fine I'll call anyways that way I'm not stuck here forever with no one responsible for me. So he proceeded to throw a fit and started chec king the registration on my truck to make sure it is valid checked my tires and tried to find any reason to deny my tow but he couldn't. So he called another company and then came and knocked on my window and asked if I wanted to be a man and step out of the truck lol. Pretty professional right? Never use him . Sean is the worst! This whole company is awful for that matter. I would never do business with them and the only reason I had to deal with D&M is because my car got towed while it was parked in front of my apartment while I was on vacation for one week. (CA has stupid parking laws and I can't even park in my own neighborhood for more than 3 days at a time.) The 7474 number they give you to call is not the person you need to talk with. And guess what, the first person I talked with was really rude. He said, "make sure to have them answer every single question you have because you can't call them back and you have to call me again." What kind of messed up operation are they running over there at D&M? Well guess what, I didn't get all the info I needed the first time Sean called so I had to call the 7474 number again and deal with the dispatcher. He said that Sean would call me back. By the way, each time this happens it takes Sean between 20-30 minutes just to return your call. Finally Sean call me back from his unregistered phone number. The location they provide you takes you on the 280 and not to their lot, so you end up circling around SFO for a walk of shame victory lap. I am sure they do this intentionally. Sean said the person would show up in 20-30 minutes and the tow truck driver, Juan, finally showed up 45 minutes later to unlock the gate so I can get my car. We were waiting in a sketchy neighborhood where the lot is located underneath the freeway in the dark. This whole situation really was messed up and I feel like they take advantage of you by charging crazy expensive fees. My car was towed on Saturday afternoon and I picked it up Sunday evening. I ended up paying close to six hundred dollars for this whole ordeal. I tried to be nice with Sean and asked if he could try to send someone out quickly since it was getting late and it was a Sunday night. And he said, "No, I will not try to send someone out quickly. D & M ....reviews are all over the place. I can say from my experience that from the office to the driver to the owner that they all treated me with nothing but a smile and respect. I needed a vehicle towed from my house in a hurry and they made it happen in less than an hour. I also needed a vin verification for a car and they had an independent contractor out to verify the car in the same amount of time. The DMV and the CHP gave me the usual run around. I tried Google as they suggested and I got nowhere with that...most sites say text us to find out rates n a time they can come out. I tried 3 and never got a reply. Had my car towed for no reason parked outside a friends house for two days. Went to finally pick it up at the time I got told to be there by and waited for two hours & called several times. Last time I called they said they couldn't do anything because they were closed. Soooooo got a flat, used AAA online "Order Service" option at 8:45 am, D&M showed up 9:10 am, changed my tire back in my office 9:20 am. My coffee was still warm! HA! I have to say, the service that was combined with the online order service of AAA sure made my hectic morning so much easier! Needed a tow a few times and requested a flatbed via AAA. It seems D&M is the AAA contractor when you need a flatbed tow near the border of San Francisco/Daly City area or in San Mateo County. I was helped by Dave the first time to tow a a friends lowered car and another time by a driver who did not really talk much when I had to tow my BMW with suspension problems. Dave had a lot of knowledge on cars and was very enthusiastic with a good attitude and gets the job done quick. The trucks are well equipped and they carry wooden blocks for lowered cars. The guys here know what they are doing and are trained well on how to hook a car carefully without damaging anything. Overall, I had a good experience with D&M and would recommend them if you are in a need of a tow. read more

Not sure if I have ever given a one star before but this experience warrants it. My catalytic converter was stolen last week and thus had to get the car towed. Called AAA and they connected me with these guys. The driver was about 45 mins late after the ETA given on the app. He then said that they should not have called him out as his truck is too big for the incline on the road ahead. I explained that he doesnt need to go up the hill only down the hill. He loaded up the car ok. When we got to the repair shop he just then told me there would be an overage miles charge. I was ok to pay it but after he took my id and credit card , he toook pics of both sides on his android phone and then emailed them (I think through gmail) to his company. I asked that he delete the pics from his phone. He didnt know how to do that so I walked him through deletion both from pics and trash. He had a lot of other pics on his phone. Not acceptable in my opnion. I followed up with AAA but they have been slow to respond. Appears from yelp that there are other people who have had similar experiences. By the way , the trucks are labeled Broadmoor towing. If you use AAA, I would ask about the towing company in advance. The reviews for this company are on the extremes, from 1 star to 5 stars. What gives? It really sucks when you're all dressed, brief case packed, and ready for the commute to work. As you step inside your car, turn on the ignition, and the car doesn't kick over. Not a good start for the day. Called AAA for road service. After info was taken, they said 30 minutes for someone to come by. The tow truck from D & M came in 20 minutes. Looking better. A very nice and personable tech tried to kick it over, with no luck, and checked battery level and wiring under hood, and concluded it was the battery. Offered AAA's battery service. In a rush to get going, I agreed. He called the battery tech, and he said he would be over in 10 minutes. Ten minutes later, truck arrived, and the battery tech proceeded to replace the battery. Looking good! Everything working, all under 1 hour from my initial call to AAA. Back on track. I can't say anything in regards to the other reviewer's experience with D & M, but I'm very happy with their promptness, and ability to get me back on track in a timely manner. read more

Terrible service from the Dispatcher who worked the evening of Nov 5, 2012 from 9pm-1045pm. He was not truthful about the tow truck's arrival time and kept changing his story about why the truck was late. After waiting almost 2 hours since my first call the Dispatcher told me he was canceling my tow because of my attitude (tired? Exasperated? Desperate ?) I couldn't believe it. A nightmare. $40 ticket from BPD. $82 fee from BPD to 'release' the car. $370 fees from D & M Towing, which includes $70 storage fee and $100 after hours charge. If I could give this place a zero I would. My car was hit by another driver and I called my roadside assistance to get a tow. They called D&M and after waiting about 30 minutes I was sent a text from roadside assistance saying they woudl be there in 10 minutes. However, they never came because a D&M truck was already there picking up the guy who hit me and the driver came over and tried to strong arm me into taking my car to their facility which I did not want as I live 30 minutes away and had no way to get home from Burlingame. When I told them I wanted it towed somewhere else they told me I would have to wait another 90 minutes at least to get a tow. If you use roadside assistance and they send this company as for another one. They will try and force you to take their car to their shop to make more money on the repairs and if you want to be towed somewhere else they will treat you poorly. read more

I used D&M for a dead battery - I don't have AAA. They arrived faster than they said they would be which was nice. The guy that jumped it was polite and funny - he hooked up my battery to this meter thing to figure out if it was my alternator or if it was being drained by something else. Turned out I had some bad wiring draining it. I appreciated him taking the time to do that. Because of this experience, I called them when my car got t-boned. I thought the car was a total for sure. I told them again I didn't have AAA and asked what the fees were; they explained to me what they were but in the end it wouldn't matter as the insurance company would pick it up. I went to their office the next day to collect my belongings; I had to wait a while for another customer to get theirs. "Only one person at a time was allowed in the yard" they said. I felt bad for the people waiting for me! Ha. I had plenty to get out of there. Oh and true to their word I didn't pay anything; the insurance did. *phew* Being in their office was an interesting experience really. I wouldn't want to have this job. People come in pissed that their car got towed and freak out on them. Like it was the tow company's fault? I'm listening to people in person and on the phone - people really think they decide to tow you. It was funny but I almost felt bad for them having to deal with that all day. No thanks. Don't get me wrong, I can understand being upset, I've been towed by the city before. It's a royal, expensive pain in the ass but I was the one who parked "illegally". Really I just didn't notice the no parking sign hidden in the tree but that's another story. I had a positive experience with this company, it wasn't for towing but for a dead battery. I called my AAA Emergency service because I had a dead battery. I left my lights on, during the day because of the rain, shopping in downtown San Mateo. Was told by AAA, I would be helped within 30 minutes, by 5pm. Thomas arrived 20 minutes later, he was down the road, servicing another client with battery issues. He was driving the 'battery truck' not a tow truck. He was chatty and friendly, gave me a choice to jump start me or replace with a new battery. My battery was old, 8 years and the wrong size. He was honest and said his batteries run $20-30 more then other shops. He said since my battery is dead, I need to drive to a shop, he can't guarantee it will start if I turn off the engine. I told him to put a new one in, but he didn't have my size and suggested Wheel Works down the road on B St. in San Mateo. He told me which size to get and the type of connection. He was done with me in 30 minutes from my AAA call. Just had to show my AAA card and ID, I was very pleased. He didn't pressure me to buy a battery from him and he gave me options of where to go locally. I appreciate my AAA Premium membership for $78 a year. read more

Seriously. The insurance agent said D&M would arrive to tow me within 45 minutes. After an hour, I call to check the status. Where is this guy?? I called D&M directly and they say HUGO is in traffic and will be there within 15 minutes. What a bunch of garbage. Do not believe what they say. After another 30 minutes, I call my insurance agent again because I've been waiting for almost two hours at this point and they say the guy is on his way and that it would take another 45 minutes to dispatch someone else, so I decide just to wait, like an idiot. After waiting another hour, I call my insurance person again and tell them to just send me someone else. I don't care how long it takes, I don't care if it's going to take then new to truck guy another 45 minutes to get to me. I've waited almost 3 hours at this point for someone who is "stuck in traffic" and has been "on his way and will be there in 15 minutes" for the past 3 hours. Enough is enough. Luckily D&M finally gets to me and beats the new tow truck by 10 minutes. Whoop De Doo. I'm not even happy to see HUGO at this point. I tell him to deliver my car to my mechanic at Arco and I give HUGO the address. I hop into my other car and drive away. OVER AN HOUR LATER, I receive a call from Hugo because he says he's at the Chevron and the guys at the gas station have no idea what he's talking about. I NEVER SAID CHEVRON. I told you ARCO. And it took you an hour to get to there when it only takes 15 minutes? Get this guy a GPS or a drug test because it doesn't make sense that he took 3 hours to get to me and he came from Burlingame!! AND he took my car somewhere else after I gave him the address. AND it took you over ANOTHER hour to get there? My dude. Please. Go somewhere else. I could've pushed my car home in the 3 hours time I waited for this dude, plus another two hours that it took for him to drive my car 15-minutes away to the wrong gas station. Never again. read more

There were a lot of angry folks driving past... but when David showed up he did an excellent job of cheering me up and making a stressful situation much smoother! These guys towed my wife's car because a tenant in my building has nothing to do at 1 a.m. I guess it gives him satisfaction knowing he could ruin somebody's day with a phone call. Mind you, this is after I let him borrow car due to a family emergency, but I digress. So I showed up to pick up my wife's car. Everything seemed to be going okay until the owner/manager asshole walks up. The office gal asks me if the car is registered to me and I tell her it's registered to my wife. My wife authorized me to pick it up. I'm on the insurance. All my stuff is still in the car. I have a key. The owner/manager asshole (hereinafter "Asshole") looks at his office gal and tells her not to release the car to me. Hey Asshole, I'm standing 4 feet from you in the other side of your locked half door, which is obviously there for your protection. Is there a reason why you can't look at me and tell me that? So I say, "look Asshole my wife is working and can't come. Can I have her call you and confirm that she's okay with this?" Looking at his office gal, he says "that ain't gonna happen." A simple "sorry" or "it's the law" would have probably calmed me down, but this guy's tone was one of "F you, I got you by the balls and there ain't crap you can do about it." There's a good chance he'll pull that crap on the wrong person someday. One can only wish. Well, my wife shows up with fury, which grows to rapidity once she finds out who called in the tow. Then I notice a dent on the fender close to the bumper that wasn't there before. And whoever towed the car also also carved up the cement in the process. I am totally shocked that people gave D & M Towing 1 star! Last Saturday, my car darn near blew up by the time I got to the Hyatt in Burlingame for a seminar. I got D & M's # from the concierge, who googled it, and the lady on the other end (at D & M) was super-helpful, assisting me in the discovery that zero service stations were open at that time. I decided to leave the car in the parking garage overnight and tow it back to Santa Cruz the next night after the seminar ended...so I could find a local mechanic closer to my home. I phoned D & M again the next day and they gave me a personal quote - $175 to tow on a flatbed (my Subaru Outback is all-wheel-drive, so no two-wheel tow, which is cheaper) to go 75 MILES!!!! I couldn't believe how great a deal this was (for example, a 2 mile tow in Santa Cruz is $85; in Louisiana 2 months ago, 10 miles for $110!). Great deal! Super-sweet ladies who answer the phone. Within 10 minutes they arrived. The driver helped me get my car down 3 stories from inside the parking garage (he drove it for me after assessing the situation, reassuring me that it would be safe). Then, the driver gave me a ride in the tow truck and we had a cordial and interesting conversation during the hour and 15 minute drive home. He even looked under the hood for me after carefully placing my vehicle in a parking spot in front of my house. Quite a gentleman. I give D & M Towing 5 stars because they really kick butt. Overall excellent experience, service, and price; AND they saved me, big time. My opinion: If you gave them 1 star because they towed you in an unfortunate scenario (ie: YOU parked illegally), then I do believe you're barking up the wrong tree. All due respect. :) read more
