Hari was helpful on the phone and with getting me seen. Once there, there were a lot of cars in the lot of a 76 gas station (which could mean there are quite a lot of people who trust the business). I saw about 3 mechanics working. While waiting for my car, I was able to walk to the shopping center and hand out at one of the restaurants. There was a Starbucks, a boba place, a Greek-pizza place, an American diner, an Italian bakery, and a sourdough bread place, so you've got options. Neighborhood seemed friendly enough and a lot of people were out and about on a summer weekday. The location is also convenient to get to from 92. I'd recommend coming in. I guess one thing is that Hari said he'd call me, but he never did. He is running the shop and the gas station; it looks like a lot of multitasking. So I guess you can always call in for a check up on the status...or just hangout at the shop - there were a few chairs there. read more

Most of us need gas to get us around if we don't already own EV's. Finding a medium in peace or to offset the soaring fuel prices is just as important to have on the daily. If you're like me and enjoy starting your morning off undisturbed and have the gas station to yourself, 76 off Crystal Springs is where I've been coming to pump some gas before contributing to traffic on 280/92. This gas station is at the top of the hill (if you're coming from Ralston and passed the Juvenile Detention Center on the left). I normally stop by before 730 a.m. on a weekday and it's really quiet up here. Rarely happens, but may come with the exception of one car pumping gas like me or someone dropping off at the donation bin at the entrance. Lot is filled with cars parked for service. Then you have the occasional car passing from Bunkar Hill. Just don't get the word around that this gas station is always peaceful and conveniently located, that is if you are willing to drive up to the top of the hill, depending on where you're coming from. read more

I had heard the locals rave about the service at this station, so I get my gas here even though it is a bit tucked away, and therefore is less top-of-mind than the station up the street. This week, I was so glad that it is my go-to! My tire started to rapidly deflate on the 280 just before the Bunker Hill exit, so I turned off, and rolled down the hill and into the station, by which time my tire was completely flat, at 9psi. At was 6:45pm at the end of a long day at work. Ugh. I was already mentally trying to reschedule my next day to deal with this. Hari was still there. He greeted me with a friendly smile, found the hole, and insisted he could fix it right then, and be done in 20 mins. In 20 mins, with surprisingly minimal cost, I was on my way. Hidden a bit down the road from the Crystal Springs Shopping Center, it's not necessarily on the beaten path. In fact, I had never been there until one day I needed propane and saw the sign as I was driving by. Turned out they were a more reliable source of supplying my fire pit addiction than Home Depot, so I went there often. Then I get a notice that my car needed a smog certificate. Ignoring it for a few weeks while it stared at me from the front seat of my car, it finally caught my attention during a propane outing. I asked Harry if he could squeeze me in for a smog and with his million dollar smile he obliged. Next thing I know I'm back again for oil changes, brake checks and funny smells from the motor. 2008 R350 4matic 1). Rear end of car sagged down. I could barely fit my hand between the top of tire and fenderwell quarter panel. Air pump on car would raise it BUT once parked it would leak out after a period of hours. Car had air leak in the rear drivers side shock. 2). Air conditioner had no cold air. Connected gauges and read values. Compressor suspected as failed. Brought it in to Hari (my first time there for service) based on the reviews I read. Nice people who really out there to help you. I had a nail stuck in the tire. I drove to this shop and they helped me removed the nail when I got there. I was lucky that the nail punctured the tire but did not cause any leak when it was removed. The entire experience took me about 15 minutes. They helped me remove the nail without any charges. Once brought in a tire with two embedded nails. They removed them and also determined that the nails had not penetrated the tire. For all the labor and time, they refused to charge me a dime. He only asked that if I needed some auto work in the future that I consider bringing in the auto there. Day comes when I needed to recharge the AC system and so I brought in the car. Where do I even start! My bf was driving us home from Daly City and all of a sudden his tire warning light alerted us tire pressure was low ON THE FREEWAY by halfmoon bay! We took the next exit and sure enough it was a flat. At 6:00pm!! We hurried and yelped somewhere and crystal springs 76 popped up. We called and asked if they patch tires and they said yes. We drove there to realize the tire wasn't patch able. A diamond file or some sort pierced through the top of the tire through the side. Harry and the guy I didn't get his name sadly, they both tried their best to patch the tire so we can make it to Costco, but no luck. We asked if they had tires in stock, but they didn't and they're not open on weekends. My bf asked if we can leave the car at their shop for the night and with no hesitation they said yes. We asked how much we owed for attempting the patch, Harry said nothing. WOW. It's been so long since we've encountered someone so honest and nice especially in the auto industry ! I ended up calling a good friend and luckily he had a tire that fit! The shop was closing up, but Harry was willing to wait 30 mins for my friend to show. Harry and his guys waited till my friend came with the tire and helped change out the tire! We are so grateful and beyond thankful for Harry and his guy! I called in the morning, they suggested a time (that was convenient) and I arrived at that time. Was in and out in 25 minutes. Cost was $55.99 for labor and $8.25 for DMV certificate fees. Super nice staff, I was going to get my van smogged here but he notified me that I needed a star certified smog location which they are not any longer. Very friendly guy, I believe he did everything in his power to help me out my specific situation. They have a nice assortment of drinks and snacks and the location is absolutely beautiful, practically a stones throw from the scenic freeway route 280 in San Mateo. One of the best things about this location is that it's one of the latest staying-open smog check locations in the Bay Area. I couldn't find anyone open later. Their shop is advertised as 8pm but he said his smog tech leaves at 7:30pm on the dot, so get there no later than 7:30pm, but call them first just to make sure these times still apply. And make sure your car doesn't require a "star certified" location which is required for older vehicles. read more
