It looks like they are really looking at their reviews because for a while they were horrid. Then all of a sudden they where excellent. I had a good experience with them. The saw the car and gave me an estimate and they stuck to their estimate. The mechanic also did a really good job of explaining to me what was happening with the car and what needed to be done to correct the issue with the car. I have been to many mechanics and have some minor mechanic work in the past. I would recommend them to other people. read more

I took my car in to have them check the worn tires in front. The sales lady, Thui wrote up the agreement for $600 to replace the struts. I left the car the on Friday morning for the repair. She called me on Saturday and told me it would be an additional $150 for the same repair. She had not calculated the costs right. She did not apologize nor took any responsibility for her mistake. Simply said "pay the additional amount or pick up the car". I'm not used to doing business with people who do not honor their agreements. This is my first time trying this shop. I had to get a SMOG check in a hurry and they charged me $50, stupid me didn't look on yelp for a coupon, for it but their SMOG check machine went down during the test. I was told this was the first time in over a decade of using that machine that this has happened. Instead of turning me away they took my car to another close by shop around the corner, did the SMOG check and charged me the same price. Now that's service! I had checked at that same shop for a better price just before ending up at D & P and they wanted $63 for a check. Since I had a good customer service experience with this shop I decided to give it a try with something difficult. I had an electrical problem on my Toyota Camry that I knew would be difficult to diagnose. At first they tried simply reprogramming the system and told me it was fixed but before I even got home I realized it still wasn't working. I took it back right away and they did more diagnosis and again thought they had fixed the problem but again it stopped working and I returned. This time they did more diagnosis and determined it needed a new fuse box which is $800 new from the dealer so they found a used one and replaced it. I was hesitant to spend hundreds of dollars on a repair that wasn't critical to the operation of the vehicle but when they agreed to "NOT CHARGE ME" if this repair didn't fix the problem, I was sold on having them do it. The original estimate was a $75 diagnostic fee but in the end I agreed to pay another $350 for parts and labor to replace the fuse box. I've only driven it once so only time will tell if it has been fixed or not. I'll update this in a few months and let you know. UPDATE: This problem was fixed by their repair! The owners, three brothers, all seemed very honest and even though they did not fix it immediately they didn't try to charge me more for diagnosis until they figured out the real issue. The repair took over a week but that was because they had to get the part from northern California. They could have put it back together and I would have been able to use it during the week they waited for the part but since I have a second car I didn't ask them to do that extra labor. In the end I got the car fixed and their price was very reasonable. Toyota of Orange wanted to charge me a $350 diagnostic fee, just to determine the problem. I'm sure they put in more hours of labor than they charge me, since it was a difficult diagnosis and a difficult installation. On top of repairing the electrical issue they also fixed my front bumper so that my door would open. My front bumper has a slight dent in it which prevented the right side front door from opening so they pulled the dent out just enough to allow the door to open without hitting the fender and damaging the door. They did this for free! Lastly, they were nice enough to drive my car back from my house so that I didn't need to get a ride and then they picked me up when it was done. Only thing they could have done better would have been to fix it the first time and, to be honest, there is some communication problem when discussing complex issues but I was able to work around that and I'm glad I did. read more

Called DP auto on Friday and spoke to thuy I asked how much would it be to install a Fuel pump she told me would be $450 Including labor. she called me Monday morning and told me she misquoted me that it would be $795.00. I had my vehicle picked up immediately took a to MONZON AUTO IN FULLERTON they did it for $435.00. it was repaired 2 hours. I would never recommend this place to anybody. This place is a rip off. At the end of the SMOG the young man tells me my Dodge failed the test. I asked him why he says did not pass the visual inspection. He said I had a defective oil hose. He went on to tell me he could fix the hose and retest for $70.00. I asked him if he could show me the hose. He said sure and pointed to a suction hose going from the oil intake to the manifold. I told him if the hose was defective ie cracked or damaged the engine would not run. By the way the hose had been replaced 1 year ago at the Dodge dealer. I asked if he had a hose he said he did not but would figure something out. I told him I thought he was taking advantage of me. He said then pay and go away. I paid him $41.75. I went 3 blocks away to a different place. Was in and out in 20 minutes. Passed. No mention of a faulty hose. read more

This shop is outstanding. I have been having my cars serviced here for years. The owner, Rocky and his brother Viet are excellent mechanics. I started taking my car there for the low cost oil changes with a coupon from the penny saver. I usually call ahead and Rocky says just drive on in and they will have me in and out in about 20 minutes. Since then I take my truck there for everything. I had a high mileage 97 Chev S-10 and D & P Auto Repair put on a couple sets of breaks, Tune up, water pump, starter and a few more things. I shop around, call for part prices etc and Rocky always come in with a very reasonable price for the work. They are very fair and they stand behind their work. Of course I have never had to take my truck back because they do it right the first time. I gave that truck to my son three years ago and it is still running strong. I bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma to replace the S-10 and took it to Rocky to check it out. I wanted him to get it in tip top shape and gave him a blank check. He went through it at no charge and then just sold me an oil change. Honest wouldn't you say? Recently I took it to another shop close by because they beat Rocky's oil change special by a couple of bucks. After the oil change the service manager took me out to the truck and pointed a flash light down below the water pump to show me a couple of drops of water. He told me that the water pump was shot. He would put one in for $250.00. I declined and drove over to Rocky. Rocky tested the pressure in the radiator. I needed a new radiator but the water pump is fine. I put a new radiator in myself, have a nice day! I have recommended D & P Auto to everyone I know. Some people need the peace of mind and take their car to the dealer and that is fine. But if you want to pay less then dealer prices and get the same quality work, take your car to Rocky. Don't pay attention to Rocky's brother, Viet. His bed side manner needs some work but he an alright guy once you get to know him. Talk to Rocky first. He will treat you right. read more

I took my car in running and when we told viet we could afford to do what he said the car needed then I believe purposely he did something so the car wouldn't want to start in purpose. I did not have problems prior to car not wanting to start. Viet even said now you have to leave the car here and I told him no. I ended up having to call AAA to tow car to house. Been going to Viet for over 10 years. The prices are very reasonable and I never feel like they are trying to upsell. I bought new tires recently and the place that installed the tires told me I needed about $636 worth of repairs on my brakes and rotors. I had those guys just install my tires, then I drove my car down the street to Viet. Didn't need new rotors after all, just new brakes. I drive a BMW, Viet charged me $186. If you liked being ripped off this is the place to go to! Absolutely the worst auto shop I have ever been to in my life totally unprofessional didn't even have a clue as to what was wrong with my car! Viet was totally unprofessional and was a total rip off artist in my opinion. I took my car there because it was a referral from my regular auto shop because they were too busy and I needed my car fixed over the weekend so I took it to D&P auto left it there for a full day and came back to my surprise and found that I had a $290 bill waiting for me. I told Viet I needed a starter replaced in my car and he said it wasn't my starter that it was a fuse that he tracked down was the source of my problem which was total BS. First of all he didn't even give me a complete written estimate didn't perform the work I told him to do and held my car hostage for $290. So I had to pay the money to get my car from the shop I filed a complaint with the CARB - California auto repair bureau which was more than happy to help me out they actually went down to talk to him and get me a settlement not as much as I would like so now I am left to take him to small claims court. Avoid the shop at all costs I wouldn't even have them work on a bicycle totally incompetent total rip off & untrustworthy and he needs to be put out of business in my opinion. We took our 2001 BMW 325 there because all of the warning lights were on. The ABS light and the Check engine light was on for years now. We had taken it to a few mechanics but no one could fix it. We were told in the past that it needed a new ABS controller and a new catalitayc converter which added up to $1700 just for parts. It would not pass smog tests for the last several years. . Also in the last 2 months the performance of the car had deteriorated greatly. There was a loss of power when we accelerated and it ran bad. WE thought that we were going to have to walk away from using the vehicle. . We left the car there and they analyzed it with a computer which generated about 6 error codes. Viet the specialist mechanic there told us that he was aware that he had to approach it scientifically and make the correct decisions so that we did not need to spend too much money and so he really could resolve the problem for us. Viet told us that he would fix the issue and that it would be somewhere between $500 and $750. He fixed the car in a couple of hours and it runs like a dream now. They replaced the oxygen sensor with an original BMW part which cost $235. He told us not to play games with after market or phony parts from China with an issue like this. They cleaned out the fuel system which was very dirty. And they changed the air filter. We are extremely pleased with the entire experience. THey are very professional and know what they are doing. Don't get pushed back by the handwriting on the invoice or any language glitches. They will explain everything to you if you ask. Also the garage is large with about 4 or 5 bays and a couple of lifts. They are smog specialists and have a smog machine there. I recommend this place to everyone. I would not recommend this place to anyone even someone I didn't care for. This place is horrible. I see all these good reviews and I am astonished. My husband took my car to get a smog test and decided to get an oil change (I go to Pep Boys normally) The next time I drove my car there was oil flowing out of the bottom of my car. I took it back to D&P and the guy told me I had a major oil leak and it would need major repair, new spark plugs, plus there might be even more repair. Something wasn't right after he gave me a $600 estimate then told me it could be even more because it would be a lot of labor. I told him no that I would take it to PEP BOYS. PEP BOYS did a complete leak evaluation and had it for 4 hrs checking everything and called and told me that the oil filter was too small for my car and that was what was causing the leaking. There was no major leaking going on. They gave me a whole new oil change it cost me $58.00 and NO LEAK. I went back to D&P and explain and the mechanic a young kid Viet said it was his younger brother. Got all hostile with me. In the end they refunded me my oil change. IF you need your car. Do not take it there... It's sad they want to rip people off... So uncalled for & unprofessional. SHAME! read more

I have an old S-10 pick-up truck that needed clutch and flywheel work. I took it to "the happiest place on Earth" first and almost got robbed! My wife told me about Viet (why she didn't mention him sooner I have no idea) so I pulled my truck and took it here and got a VERY good price and smooth clutch. MY SUV needed a SMOG Check. Found coupon on-line, best price in the area and did it. Car past with flying colors, On visual, he failed me for 2 incidents which passed the past 6 years before, The exhaust headers had the Carb tag welded to it and he did not care to look for tag until I had to point out the label welded to it. He claims it needed to be a sticker on the hood! (he is not up on the SMOG Law were all exhaust parts need tag welded on for CARB exemption) 2nd issue was the PCV hose, he claimed it was not compliant and would not pass visual because of it. even though it was compliant per California law! Then last straw after arguing about his proof, which he will not produce, (leads me to believe he's trying to drive up repair costs) was he would still not pass it and return tomorrow as he is now closed, although the website state he's open until 7PM (Is was 6.15PM) Not a very good business man and no people skills, I am filing a complaint to the BBB and CBAR for 2 counts fraud and mis-leading customer. sorry to say, stay away! I'd give no stars if it was an option! My husband and I will NEVER go back there again. First time he took car to get a/c fixed and they did an OK job. A few months later he noticed a leak from transmission pan gasket. Took it in to Viet and they charged $232 to drop pan and ,replace the the plugs and flush the fluid next day truck had problems shifting into first and was running horribly. Took it back in that same day they dropped the pan again and then told us we had to pay another $130 to replace the shift solenoid. Did that and truck runs worse than before we took it in the first time. Got a second opinion from another place and they showed us pictures of the plugs that had NOT been replaced and showed my husband the "new" transmission fluid that was more like black sludge not red like it should be. They wanted to charge $490 to fix the same things that we had already paid for from d & p... When we called to talk to them about the issues the lady in the front desk just told us to talk to mechanic who then refused answer our calls or call back. They blamed it on being understaffed and too busy if that's the case why not just keep the truck a day or two longer and do the work the right way and not lie about using new parts when they didn't do jack read more
