The lady that checked me in wasn't so pleasant so that's part of my star bump. Didn't really get that welcome feeling with her when I mentioned I was a Nationwide Member. The locker rooms were easy to access and very cooled down. Men's locker rooms had a middle room for lounging. The towels here are super large (instead of the normal sweat towels). There's one enclosed room with weight machines, and then a larger open room with smith machines, dumbbells, bench, incline, pulley machines, treadmills/ellipticals and a cardio training zone. They also have an outdoor covered astroturf cardio zone. There is a large heated pool, basketball court and separate studio rooms for fitness classes. My only gripe is that front desk lady and the limited benches they have. Otherwise, this is a solid gym option!

Both of my daughters practically grew up there. What started as childcare became a true second home -- a place where they were known, encouraged, and genuinely cared for. The staff never treated them as just another name on a roster. They invested time, patience, and heart into helping them grow not only socially, but academically as well. Today they are confident, respectful, and motivated young adults, and I credit much of that foundation to the nurturing environment JCA created for them year after year. The programs balance structure with fun, responsibility with belonging, and education with character development. If you are looking for a youth program where your children will be supported, challenged, and valued, JCA delivers. We are deeply grateful to the dedicated staff who helped shape our daughters into the people they are becoming.

We joined their gym, we have attended some of their many cultural activities and participated in other activities that are offered. The best part of JCA is the staff. They are some of the sweetest, kindest and knowledgeable people. Try it out-you won't be disappointed.

He did not seem to have kids and looked as if he was flirting with the lady sitting at the front desk. I am utterly disgusted by this. We hope to continue at this facility for years to come!!

I cannot say enough good things about Camp Chippewa! Granted, it's been 10 years since my twin sons…read morehave attended, but I'm pretty sure things are much the same. I discovered Camp Chippewa when my boys were about 7 years old. We started off with school holidays and then summer camp shortly thereafter. My sons went to Camp Chippewa until they were too old to go anymore - when they turned 13! I understand that owner Mr. George Burrell retired about 5 years ago, but sold the camp to his long time managers. The camp is still in good hands. My sons and I still talk about Camp Chippewa and "Mr. George" as if it were yesterday. So many happy times there! Most days when I picked my boys up from summer camp, they were tired, sweaty and dirty lol. Sometimes they would even fall asleep on the way home! This is because they were outside all day playing, swimming, riding horses, fishing, canoeing, and more. The only time they were inside is if the temp just got too crazy hot, or it was raining/storming. The camp counselors were great. Every year, there were always some counselors from countries around the world. This exposed the kids to different cultures and languages. Also many former campers return in the summer to be counselors when they are too old to attend themselves. When my boys turned 13, on their birthday and very last day ever at Camp Chippewa, the staff had a party for them. It was truly a sad day for us, but oh, the memories! If you don't want your children to be sitting inside a day care building all day watching TV...if you want them to get outside and play in the mud, get fresh air, they need to be at Camp Chippewa! Note that summer camp is (or at least was when my boys went) a day camp, not a sleepover camp. However, if you ever longed to go to a real sleepaway camp or wanted your kids to, maybe in the mountains, like you see on TV and movies...Camp Chippewa is that kind of place, has all those activities, but is a day camp. Also, at least when my sons attended, the cost was comparable to any other day care situation in town. But in every other way, Camp Chippewa was more!! Camp Chippewa is tucked away in a residential area off Southside & Bowden Road. You'd never know it was there, though, unless you knew it was there! It is a huge area, but fits nicely into the surrounding neighborhood. You owe it to yourself and your kids to check out Camp Chippewa!

I particularly loved the "Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum" song she'd perform and sing. Smitty's is an "old school" summer camp. The kids get to swim TWICE a day! There's a nice pool as well as HUGE inflatable water slides! I typically sent my daughter in shorts, a bathing suit, and a long sleeve rash guard that would double as sun protection since they are outside ALL DAY! They also get to kayak, canoe, and go fishing! I love that even the little ones build confidence in learning all these new skills. My impatient daughter has *yet* to catch a fish but is wistful for that day to come. Every week is a new theme and they do games and crafts to compliment the weeks theme. My daughters favorite was Holiday Hullabaloo. "Monday is Christmas, Tuesday is Valentine's Day, Wednesday is Easter, and Thursday is HALLOWEEN!" My daughter joyfully informed me. The Minute-To-Win-It theme was also a hit. In between games there is also a playground and also a covered patio area where they can do crafts or read books. I have seen the older kids playing kickball on the baseball field in the mornings too. On rainy days they go inside and watch movies. Smitty's has such a FUN Summer Camp culture! I wish I had been able to attend something like this when I was younger myself. The main improvement Smittys needs is their front-of-house administration. Getting any resolution over the phone has been very difficult for me be it an emailed receipt or even a confirmation if could make a reservation for camp. You really have to go IN PERSON to get anything done unfortunately. TIPS: - Wednesday is Ice cream truck day so pack your little one some cash if they want some! - There is no on site food preparation for lunch BUT there is a water refill station as well as a Camp Store for snacks. - My daughter would carry a pound of sand home in her shoes so we had a rule that she would leave the shoes OUTSIDE! - Pack extra sunscreen for your child to apply after swimming or when needed. - They upload photos at the end of the week of all the fun the kids had to both their website and Facebook!
