D burnham's is a lovely and elegant restaurant located off the lobby of downtown Cincinnati Ohio's renaissance Marriott hotel. Me and my family took a weekend getaway to Cincinnati recently to attend a Billy Joel concert at nearby great American ballpark. We were staying at the Renaissance so before we walked to the concert we came in here for dinner. As stated very elegant and nice place. Very large and spacious on the inside as well. There wasn't a wait as we beat the concert rush traffic so we were seated immediately. We started off with two appetizers. We got calamari and a charcuterie board. Both where very good. I enjoyed the calamari a lot. Had nice flavor and good and flavorful beading with an amazing white dipping Soave. my wife and oldest daughters absolutely loved the charcuterie board of meat and cheeses. I ties a few and they meat and cheeses I tasted were all fresh and flavorful. For our entrees we sampled the menu pretty Well. I personally got the Burnham Burger. I almost got the new York strip but I had eaten steak for dinner the night before and lunch the day of so I expanded my taste buds a bit. The burger featured hamburger, short rib and horse radish sauce. It has a good flavor and was cooked well. Came with a side of fries that were pretty tasty as well. The younger there kiddos got Mac and cheese. Was kinda disappointed that on the side menus they had a 3 cheese Mac and cheese for like $9 and kids menu Mac and cheese was $8. We figured it would be the same but it was no doubt in my mind Kraft Mac and cheese. Even my kids who wouldn't or shouldn't know better said "this is the same Mac and cheese you make from the store". Which they like but charging $8 for Kraft when you obviously have a different Mac and cheese on main menu is kinda lame. My oldest daughter got fish tacos and appeared to like them. The wife got roasted chicken breast and was a big fan. Said was juicy and had good flavor. The service was good but terribly slow. We was there over an hour just waiting. Even after we got our food. Took forever to get check. The crowd hasn't settled in yet but I felt bad for the concert goers if they didn't speed up because I'm sure many missed the beginning of the show if they worked at the same pace did for us. Overall very nice place. Food ranges form good to great and the prices were mid to high end depending on the plate you ordered. They did have a scaled down cheaper menu options for some. So that was cool to see that people have options. I wish they would of been more efficient and didn't rip you off on the children's Mac and cheese. If not for that then it would have been a five star experience. read more

As a group of about 16 on a Monday night, out for cocktails and appetizers, we had a fantastic time. The appetizers were phenomenal. Chicken wings with celery and carrots served with ranch or bleu cheese sauce, barbecue sauce and buffalo sauce proved to be adequate for all taste buds. The crab cakes on top of creamed corn broke apart easily and chunk of crab were not visible, but the presentation and the taste were delicious. All the cocktails looked great. They had a nice wine selection and ambiance was very sexy. Mood lighting was in the dining room, but we remained in the waiting area as the group staggered in and out. The lights in the waiting room were bright considering the rest of the sexy establishment, but we still enjoyed everyone, and the wait staff was efficient and fantastic. I had catering from D. Burnham's for my wedding last year, but hadn't been to the restaurant yet. I worked with my previous venue coordinator from the Renaissance hotel for a dinner reservation at the restaurant for my husband and I to have our wedding meal again. It was done without a hitch! When we arrived, they had a lovely table set up for us with formal tablecloth, candles and flowers--such a lovely surprise!! The food was just as scrumptious as I remember. We also ordered appetizers from the D. Burnham's regular menu and were blown away by how delicious it is. I was surprised it wasn't more busy in there because the chefs are throwing DOWN in the kitchen! It's a pricier dinner for us with how we like to order, but can definitely see us coming back for fancy nights out by ourselves, with family or friends. read more

A hidden gem in the queen cities crown. I stopped in because I had a minute to kill and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed a cocktail from a cozy couch in the corner of the dimly lit bar area. The ambiance is warm snd comfortable. The drink was good and as I looked over the food menu, there were definitely some tasty looking items I'd like to try. The bar was super nice and they even have tvs for sports watching. Perhaps the perfect place to meet your gal pals for a fun low key night out, a nice place to wine and dine a business client or just a cozy spot to have an intimate date. We weren't a fan unfortunately. Staff wasn't very friendly with us, and they weren't even busy. My husband got an old fashioned and it was not good at all. It was terrible sweet and over priced. I had a vodka Diet Coke and they were not able to make my first two requested drinks. The restaurant was quite dirty with lots of un bussed tables and scraps on the floor. Our waitress was the sweetest, most genuine woman ever. My mom and I are staying at the hotel connected to this restaurant and it was dark outside so we decided to stay in and eat. The food was great and our appetizers were yummy. They also gave us a free dessert. It was quiet and relaxing. Very clean inside and taken care of. They also have a nice amount of vegetarian options. Absolutely excellent service and one of the best burgers I've had outside of Bru. We came down for a weekend away from the kids. Getting in a little later than we planned, we debated going out or eating in. Because the travel and hospitality industry has been devastated this year, the hotel (yes, this is a hotel kitchen) is offering a $15 voucher for valet parking if you spend $30 or more in the restaurant. Always a sucker for a good deal, we decided to eat in. While I was a little disappointed in the skinny covid menu, I understand. The burger (which is what I was after anyway thanks to a sour stomach) was delightful. I was still drooling as I drifted off to sleep hours later. Corey, the bartender / server / one-man bar & restaurant man, suggested the best ginger ale I've ever had. I bought one to go just so I can try and find it at the grocery. It had floral notes I've never experienced in a ginger ale...and I need more. Plenty of space to socially distance and all mask/glove/cleaning precautions taken by the staff. We hope to stay again and experience the full menu. They also appear to have the space for large gatherings, once those are allowed... read more

D. Burnham's is located inside the Renaissance Hotel downtown. I stopped in here for lunch one day and was blown away by the food. It is a little expensive, so it's definitely not an everyday spot. The baby kale salad with salmon was huge and tasted fresh. Perfect for a light, healthy lunch or dinner option. We have an anual valentines dinner with two of my friends and as I was looking for the last reservations available I ran into this option. For some reason I don't remember seen it or hearing about nevertheless they place is beautiful, specially the lounge are it's modern and the color pattern gives it an edgy pop. We got here super late around 10 pm. and the place was slightly empty so we were seated promptly ( we missed the reservation at 9 pm.) The waiter took a little to come is, the service was okay it just felt rushed because one he kept coming back, and kind of pushed us to decide while standing there, and being open until 12 I didn't think it was necessary. Anyways, to drink I ordered a Sazerac, and my friends ordered the Ruby Red, at that time my friend ordered the Hummus as well. That took a while to come out, the drinks were okay I wasn't fascinated with my choice but it was alright. My friend did not like her she thought it was way too strong. Furthermore, the menu options did not wow me, so I since he was standing there I ordered the Margherita flat bread, and so did one of my friends, the other one ordered the fried calamari. Order came, plates were huge, if we would know one flat dread would of fed us all but the waiter did not really go over the menu. The flat bread was actually tasty, I like the mozzarella pieces, plus it was soft and flavorful, my friends liked their order as well minus the soup that one got she said it was tasteless. Being so huge we asked for boxes and he brought the check. We told him we were sound separate checks but he split the hummus among the 3 of us (which we never really asked for). Every experience - happy hour, dinner, and dessert and drinks has been stellar here. Happy hour pricing and apps were fab. Had bacon wrapped cheese stuffed dates, slow roasted short ribs and something else I just can't remember right now but it was oh so good. Even better...check on Yelp and get a free appetizer. Dinner was so elegant the next night. Bob was unsure about eating in a hotel, but put his reservations aside and had a terrific steak. He claimed it was one of the best steaks ever. I had the entree portion of the short ribs, and they were as good as I remember from happy hour. Friends had the salmon and raved about it. We all cleaned our plates - winners! This past weekend we went in for drinks and dessert. The Creme Brulee was probably the best we ever had. And we've had a lot of Creme Brulee thru the years. It's how we judge a place. We were in town for the Flying Pig Marathon and looking for a downtown breakfast Sunday morning. We passed on the $42 buffet at the Netherlands Plaza. Looking for a coffee shop we happily found on in the Renaissance Hotel on 4th. I had a 3 egg Western omelet with hash browns and toast for $18. P had the veggie and chorizo egg special for 16. After a long travel day and tradeshow set up I just wanted something that was in the hotel and I was pleasantly surprised that this little gem was steps from the elevator of my hotel (Renaissance). The Burnham Burger -angus beef topped with braised short rib, white cheddar, fried onion, horseradish aioli. This was just what the doctor ordered. It was close and I did not have to sacrifice taste for convenience. The angus beef and braised ribs complimented each other and the white cheddar was a perfect chaperone to help them get along. The fried onion ring on top gave it enough crunch so your palette could enjoy the depth of flavors and not seem like it was meat on top of meat. The service was great as well. I can't remember her name but she was attentive but not over bearing. I hear on Wednesday they have live music so I know I will pop on down to try another creation from the menu. read more

My friends and I came here for downtown Cincinnati restaurant week and it was...an alright experience overall. Let's dive in: The restaurant looks gorgeous when you walk in. Definitely a fancy interior with tasteful candlelight at every table. I was in awe as soon as I sat down. For my starter, I got the lump crab and red curry bisque. A pretty good dish with a nice kick to it - extremely reminiscent of a good Thai red curry (with hints of coconut and all). I just wish there was more lump crab! The field salad was good (but I'd imagine it's hard to mess up), and the crispy Scottish salmon was cooked to perfection - amazing amazing crispy skin. The red quinoa that it came with, however, was on the salty side. Finally, I was disappointed with my dessert: the char grilled Georgia peaches. Maybe that's my fault, since I expected almost a peach cobbler-like hot concoction, but it was served COLD. And a bit too fragrant for my taste. I will say that the pork belly appetizer and sous vide lamb entree had AMAZING flavor (I guess my friends are luckier when it comes to ordering food than I am), so I'm taking away the fact that their dishes are hit or miss. Oh, and service could use a lot of work here. It was incredibly slow (we were there for about 3 hours) and our waiter couldn't seem to remember who ordered which dishes. Fresh and healthy options here! This place was so welcoming and let's not forget...it's in the Renaissance. I wanted to go somewhere a lil fancy schmancy and this place filled the void for lunch. We opted to lounge at the couch to eat and the tablescape was beautiful! We dined on crab cakes, salad, veggie burgers and fish tacos. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My crab cake was all crab with very little filler. It was flavorful without a bunch of unnecessary seasoning. The lemon vinaigrette was a welcomed punch of flavor in my mouth. Yum. Like for real...I'm so easy to please. Lemon dressing rocked my world. Lol The service was very attentive. Our waitress was so nice and took the time to explain various menu items and even offered to let us taste certain items to make sure it met our approval before ordering. Very sweet and kind. What a fantastic new gem in the Queen City! Nestled in the Renaissance Hotel in what used to be a bank, you walk through heavy gold doors past a modern, but inviting and comfortable lobby, past the live and vibrant bar with people laughing, maybe playing Heads Up at their table, and back to the dining area. The space is open and large, but they have somehow been able to make you feel at home. It might have something to do with the plush couches that you are seated at while dining. Hands down- one of the best couches I have ever been seated at. I wanted to prop my feet up on the soft fabric and firm cushion, and even wondered where my dog had gone. There are smaller nooks along the wall that allow for more intimate conversation and dining. The lighting is low, but we dined late and it felt perfect. Yes, I could make myself at home here. We had a pretty large party, and from what I understand it was only the second night since their ribbon cutting ceremony. Add a 3 year old running around the table squealing with laughter, and probably 10 different checks at the end of the night. I am pretty sure we sent our staff running for a cocktail after we left. There were a few quirks with ordering and when the bills came, but the staff was wonderful, welcoming to everyone, attentive to water glasses and beverages and bread baskets (ladies, it's worth the carbs... go Paleo some other time) that I was incredibly impressed. Even more impressive was the manager at our rowdy, happy, chatty group making sure we had everything, inquiring if we needed anything, and taking inventory as to how the staff was doing. He made our birthday guest feel special- which is exactly how she should have felt on her day. The food was terrific. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was just too hungry. I ordered the scallops and frites fried in duck fat. They looked so amazing someone else at the table ordered one for herself when they came out. The dinner is a bit pricy, but I don't remember a time when my scallops were perfectly seared and cooked perfectly inside and out. It came on a small salad of brussels sprouts with a sauce drizzled over it. Everyone else loved their food- from the peach salmon, the lamb, chicken, shrimp on a bed of crazy rice- excellent presentation. I am excited to return for a girls night or even quiet dinner out. Occasionally my wife and I still find time to sneak away for a busy workday for a nice lunch. The location for this latest dine was D. Burnham's, which is hidden inside the recently renovated Renaissance Hotel at 4th & Walnut. The interior of this contemporary restaurant is very modern, there are even a couple of relaxing couch areas inside the dining room. We arrived just after the 11 AM opening and were the first patrons to be seated. Over the course of our meal a few more tables were occupied but there was plenty of room when we left around noon. The lunch menu features nearly a dozen sandwiches, plus almost as many salads, several pizzas, and a few larger entrée plates. There were a few items that jumped out at me, but eventually I was sold on the chicken cordon bleu sandwich as it came on a pretzel bun. This sandwich was topped with shaved maple ham, Gruyere cheese, bibb lettuce, tomato, and garlic Dijon aioli ($12.50). The pretzel bun did not disappoint and overall the sandwich was quite good. Sandwiches are served with a choice of fries, kettle chips, or fruit. The fries were cut in-house and reminded me of those my family would make at home growing up. My wife ordered from the "healthy fare" section of the menu and had a marinated vegetable sandwich with grilled portabella, eggplant, roasted red pepper, zucchini, yellow squash, topped with arugula and fresh mozzarella on french bread ($11). This was served with a house salad of spring mix, tomatoes, sweet onion, and a lemon vinaigrette. That's a whole of vegetables for me, but my wife seemed happy with her choice. Overall we were happy with our lunch selections. The dinner menu is a little more limited and much more expensive, so I don't think we will return for dinner but a follow-up lunch is not out of the question. The breakfast menu also doesn't look too bad, so I'll have to remember that for our next stay downtown. read more

Man oh man, what a difference a few years makes! I worked downtown when D. Burnham's first opened and went several times, loving the food, location and service each time. We came for Mother's Day after a mixup resulted us in needing to snag a last minute reservation for six! The fact there were still slots open should've been a sign but I just remembered how much I liked it back then and didn't read any recent reviews. When we arrived the dining room was almost empty, with maybe 4 other tables filled. Weird, I thought. With such good company I didn't realize it took about 15 minutes for our (cheery, I'll admit) waitress to arrive. She took a partial drink order and disappeared. Ten minutes later she returned and took the rest of the drink orders and our food order as well. Another 20 minutes and we had our drinks. We had ordered the kids' food first asking it to be expedited. Well over 30 minutes into the food order she asked whether our youngest wanted pepperoni on her pizza (which means it hadn't been put in the oven yet -- keep in mind the restaurant was almost empty at this point). After what seemed an eternity our food arrived. My daughter's pizza had dough that was still undercooked. My other daughter's kids slider burger was a half pound behemoth with an entire pickle spear sliced in half on top. She couldn't fit it into her mouth (they said it was a free "upgrade"). They also asked my daughter what side she wanted after the meal was served! My mother ordered scrambled eggs and was served a Western omelette. My Caesar salad was served as a bowl of plain dry lettuce. My wife's hash browns were limp and grey instead of extra crispy. The coffee was almost transparent it was brewed so weak (and it was expensive with a strict limit of 2 refills only)! I could go on. The waitress was polite but very slow and not very attentive, and she didn't catch any of the extremely numerous mistakes from the kitchen, instead delivering a mostly wrong $117 meal to us. That while we her only table and only one of 3 in the whole place by the end. That on top of being the slowest collection of mostly egg dishes I've ever seen prepared in my life. What the hell happened to this place? It had such promise when it opened with a distinctive new American, almost locavore menu. The prices have gone up a notch but everything else has plummeted. To top it off, when I was paying for my meal I asked to apply the bill to my Marriott Rewards account and was told they were a Columbia hotel. After the fact I showed her my confirmation that it was a Marriott property and she said she'd apply it to my points, though I won't hold my breath. If I were the hotel proprietors at this point I'd shit can the management and kitchen staff of the restaurant, at a minimum, and change the name. Such a beautiful spot and great location, and ultimately such a wasted opportunity. read more

Cheese plate was really good and the only good part. I was told the $34 scallop entree is not a big amount and good for not very hungry people. I expected at least 4 scallops, only 2, yes, ONLY TWO. Actually my friend couldn't even help laughing when we saw the plate. Also, the vegetable with scallop was not good prepared, no seasoning, tasted like napkin. I think when they recommend it, it would be more accurate to say this is for very very full people. Dessert was a white chocolate avocado cream, which tasted like guacamole, me and my friend weren't be able to appreciate or finish it. From best to worst: Service: friendly and timely Atmosphere: looked classy, but playing Top 40 tunes kind of ruined the vibe Food: Lord, have mercy! 1) Bread: When our server asked, "Would you like some fresh bread?" I thought she was serious. The pretzel bites were as hard as diamonds, and the rye bread wasn't much closer to being fresh. 2) Caesar Salad: One of the worst I've ever had. The greens were wet, as if they had just been cleaned, the Caesar dressing was nearly without taste, and the hard-as-hell crouton on top of the salad was almost indestructible. 3) Filet: They ruined an excellent cut of beef by failing to season it with salt and pepper, which is all it needed. To add insult to injury, they covered it with a terrible demi-glace, 4) Papperdelle Bolognese: The pasta was chewy and Chef Boyardee makes better sauce than that bolognese. I'm serious. 5) Bread Pudding: Round one was so hard that it was inedible. Paul tried stabbing his portion over and over with a spoon and could not make a dent in it. My best guess is that they tried to serve us yesterday's leftovers. Since we had not uttered a negative word about the rest of the meal, we complained about the dessert. Located on the first floor of the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, this restaurant and bar provide a nice quiet culinary escape for those who prefer not to venture outside the hotel. They have a nice glass cased wine rack/ cooler in the rear of the restaurant. I sat at the bar which actually has a bar stool loveseat (built for 2). Many local craft beers on draught as well as in bottles. With a Yelp check-in, I received a free appetizer. I chose the calamari which was OK, maybe a little too breaded for my liking. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. A few flatscreen TV's at the bar to watch the college basketball games. read more

We sat at the bar stool benches (away from the bar) and everything was great. The placemats, the light fixtures, the stools, etc. were all fascinating. Their waiting area was elegant, cozy but not cramped, and very chic. The food was fine. I wasn't a big fan of the charcuterie and the Burger was a bit greasier than preferred. The price was high but to-be-expected for a hotel restaurant. The service was excellent. Our server really knew what he was talking about and was able to answer nearly all of my misc questions. I got the sense that D Burnham's is still new and improving every day so I look forward to returning. read more

I love the decor, the building has such beautiful and thoughtful design elements. It looks sophisticated and trendy, with a lot of gorgeous architecture, furniture and interior design pieces. I had the most delicious appetizer, it was the Blackened Hawaiian Tuna on a bed of Asian slaw. It was perfect, with a touch of heat/spice to it, but not over the top at all. My server Mike was wonderful of course, and the manager, bartender and cocktail servers were all really lovely and attentive. I went on a Thursday. They made a special craft-cocktail punch that is $1 a glass, and the proceeds go to a children's charity. I think they do it at happy hour, Monday-Thursday. And they have an really good acoustic guitar singer/songwriter that plays each Thursday as well. I highly recommend it. read more

Our recent experience at D. Burnham's was fantastic. We went during Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week and from start to finish we were treated respectfully and service was A+. Sometimes people stereotype my girlfriend and myself because we look so young, but D. Burnham's didn't whatsoever. From the start I enjoyed a Shiraz (I forget which one specifically), but it had a nice finish and some sweet, mellow hints. My girlfriend had a Riesling, we both think. When they brought the bread, baked in-house if I'm not mistaken, we absolutely loved it so much we had to get more. I think the rye bread was really nice and I really liked the pretzel bites. The options we went with for each of our appetizers were pan-roasted pork belly, and the jalapeño stuffed dates. Oh man, both were absolutely phenomenal. The pork belly had such a nice flavor and taste, especially with the pineapple compote, I could've eaten 10 of those. The dates had a wonderful kick and yet were very tasty, especially being stuffed with the jalapeños. For our main course, I went with the pan-roasted Scottish salmon. I'm big on fish and the presentation was spot-on, as was the saffron honey. The salmon was cooked to perfection, not over-cooked, not under-cooked, just perfect. My girlfriend went with the Airline Chicken, with the acorn squash risotto, prosciutto, and au jus. Absolutely phenomenal. Everything just paired so well, especially with our wines. We finished the meal with the crème brûlée. Mm, mm. Seared to perfection on the surface. The price was definitely up there, I think tip included was roughly $113, but honestly all things considered, it was worth it. Second time dining at this establishment. Loved the food both times. Good wine list and interesting menu. I had the dates with goat cheese, bacon bits and mixed green appetizer with my moscato. Service was good and friendly. Nice decor with lots of different seats, couches, lounging area which is good depending on the size of your party. Fun Fact: D. Burnham's is named after the architect Daniel Burnham of Flatiron and Chicago World's Fair fame. His firm also designed the Bartlett Building which houses the new Renaissance hotel, and its restaurant that bears his name. Fun Fact #2: The Bartlett Building was the tallest building in Ohio (albeit for a very brief amount of time) Okay, now that I've geeked out a bit, the Renaissance has done a beautiful job of fixing up this building. The lobby, bar area and restaurant have a sophisticated eclectic look. (check out the blueprints of the building hanging in the small lobby on the Walnut Street side) We came in for an impromptu dinner and were seated at a long table with two couches on either side as seating, and I'll admit, eating a fancy meal while sitting on a comfy couch is a surprisingly fun experience! More places should do this! Anyway, the full dinner menu is pricey, but they do have a bar menu with more reasonably priced sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc. I got their poached beet salad which was fantastic! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and though we didn't order any on this trip, their cocktail menu has some delicious sounding concoctions that I plan to try the next time I visit. read more

This is a lunch review. D. Burnham's is shiny and new, but once the novelty fades, it fails to separate itself from the myriad of other lunch options downtown. I love the decor and the service is good, but you could say that about every other lunch spot downtown. I've been here twice and the food lacks. In particular, the BLT "E" was a poor concept and/or execution of a dish. The charcuterie plate is a good item to share and they occasionally switch up the meat/cheese selections which is nice. All that being said D. Burnham's is a good addition to the restaurant scene downtown, but I'm not completely confident about its ability to survive. Better restaurants have come and gone. read more

This is a neat little place. You almost miss it because you have to go all the way down to fourth and stop before you roll all the way down to the Banks. This is the restaurant that's a part of the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, and you have to go into the Lobby to get to it. It's a really snazzy place! It's got a nice level of sophistication, and, if you want, the up-scale drinks to match it. They also have a pretty cool tic-tac-toe board to play with that we only saw on our way out - next time I suppose. My only complaint is our bartender/server...he was kind of awkward, and wasn't really sure about things. He may be new or something, and was probably hit by a crowd after the Reds game, so I wouldn't put too much thought into it. As a reference for price, I got a Canyon Road Cabernet for about $8, which you could easily get for $5 somewhere else. Went to D. Burnham's on the evening of June 1st. Was overcharged at the bar and made multiple phone calls to the bar to resolve. Was promised a callback but have heard nothing. Either a scam going on or they just don't care. Either way, check your bank accounts and avoid at all costs. Literally. read more

Outstanding corned beef hash with poached egg. Fruit and toast on the side. Would be five stars but it took a long time to get our meal. Once we made them aware of the wait they promptly addressed the situation and comped our ticket. Friendly service and good food. I'd come back despite the error. read more

I've been looking forward to trying D Burnham's, so my girlfriends and I went for happy hour and sat in the bar area. The lounge is pretty funky and modern, with a combo of high top tables and low tops with oversized leather chairs (the table tops actually spin so you can adjust the height). Our waitress was super friendly and helpful, and suggested I order the Cucumber Mule, which I already heard rave reviews about. It seemed gin and tonic-esque, and was very light and refreshing. My girlfriends also split a bottle of wine, and shared the soft pretzels and fig flatbread -- yum! The clientele seemed to be more business professionals, but that might've been due to the fact we went on a Wednesday evening. They also have private space available for large groups, which could come in handy. read more

3.5 stars, really. We've only been once so far and weren't wow-ed, but it was enjoyable enough that we would go again. The ambiance is contemporary upscale, with dark hues and bright accents, and a sort of a lounge vibe that isn't bad. I liked the big windows along the wall, giving glimpses of street life, and the game boards at the sofas. (There were two kids playing checkers while their families ate. It was cute.) The menu has quite a good variety of options. Prices are definitely upscale. To be honest, I don't remember what we ordered except the cheese plate, which was very good and plentiful. I do remember that we *liked* our entrees, FWIW. (I think I got a duck dish? I think my husband got a small steak of some sort?) When we went, D. Burnham's hadn't been open for that long, and it was only noticeable in the service. It wasn't *bad* but it wasn't polished either. Our server was friendly, but not quite smooth or quick with his delivery or recommendations. There were some noticeable gaps too, like between seating and getting our drink order taken, and then between appetizer and entrees. Nothing major, just the kind of thing an establishment of this order should smooth out with time. So yeah, a solid experience, with room for improvement. Food is king, though, and the food here was good. That rates high enough for a return. read more
