I went this evening to have dinner with 2 friends and I have never experienced such terrible conditions. There air conditioner was not working and it was a sweat box. I asked our waiter about the air and his response was simply "they don't care about us working here let alone the customer ". Why couldn't they at least get fans to show that they cared ? The food is good and I like that the portions are decent. I always take a stroll around the tables to look at the different meals before ordering... even though people look at me like I am nuts. The Lomo Saltado, different types of Chaufa, and rotisserie chicken were by far the most ordered items,. However it is important to note there were a handful of other meals that looked really good. I ordered the Lomo Saltado chicken/steak combo. It was good but the steak could have been a better quality but for the price can't complain it was good. It bothers me that my waiter did not speak enough English to communicate. This was my first time at this restaurant and I wanted to ask for recommendations. I also did not like that prices were not on the menu! Unfortunately, I could not ask the waiter! Service was average, but only because I was assertive with other service people in the restaurant to get what I needed. We ordered without knowing prices, but was content with fair pricing. Had we known the cost of what things were at the beginning of the meal we certainly would have also ordered appetizers. Big big mistake on the restaurants part. The restaurant puts an auto gratuity of 15% and a 3% credit card fee on all checks. Which is cool because I normally tip 20% plus :) ... always happy to save a buck. To wrap this up... if I could of communicated in the english language, you know... that language we speak in the United States of America, this review would have been a 4 or 5 star review. Very in professional. I called and ordered my food 20 minutes before and when I arrived at the restaurant I was told that my order had not been placed. I showed the hostess/clerk that the food was ordered and the phone number in my recent calls there was no apology, no customer service just nasty attitude. I then asked her what time will the food be ready if I placed my order now. She looked past me to the next customer as if I were not standing there. Hands down, one of the best Peruvian restaurants in town! I didn't intend for that to rhyme either lol. Great food, drinks & vibes. I'm a pescatarian, so I'm a fan of all their seafood dishes. My favorite is their lomo de camarones or "shrimp lomo," which some ppl refer to it as. It includes with white rice on the side but I always request to substitute it with arroz chaufa instead. I usually love D'Carbon and have patronized them for several years. Recently, I called in an order and the person answering the phone spoke Spanish. when she realized I spoke English only, she put the phone down while she proceeded to take other orders (I know this because I understand Spanish very well). Order after order and left me on the phone for a long time. when she returned to the phone, she was annoyed I was still there and put me on hold again. The Lomo Saltado was a bit drier than usual and the prices on online were not the same as in the store. More effort needs to go into the customer service with the understanding that all your customers are not Spanish-speaking. read more

It's was so bad I had to wait like 23 minutes and took a nap in the car but every itching else was good the food was amazing

I felt the service was very attentive, and the food was spectacular. I've been a patron here for awhile, and the food has always been good. But with the recent renovation, I feel like I am eating at a SO much better looking place than the old diner atmosphere before. The walls have a nice brick accent, there's modern appliances, and the seating is diverse. They have booths, large tables for big groups, and more intimate seating in the back. High chairs and all! And best of all? They have a fully stocked bar, and sound system to match. Expect some on-trend Spanish music to be played at a high volume. I did come at 9pm though. More of my scene anyway :) The food was served promptly after ordering, and was piping hot! We ordered salchipapa as an app with aji sauce. It was delicious. For the entrees we ordered a chicken chaufa and a lomo saltado. Both very awesome. It's a Friday night and I had a great night out with my boyfriend. We will definitely be coming back! read more

This was my first visit to a D'Carbon. It was a Saturday at noon. It didn't start very well. After entering, there was nobody to greet me. They even appeared to have a staff meeting while blocking the entryway to get to the tables. I eventually assumed it was a choose your own seating situation so I did. I got confirmation that I was not a ghost 10 minutes later when a worker asked if I was there to eat. Probably! Maybe they were too busy with other customers. Oh wait, I was the only one there. I'm clinically depressed anyway so I don't get offended by these kind of things. Normalcy returned from this point out. I ordered the Lomo Montado. I enjoyed my meal while watching the bar television and listening to Spanish language tunes. The dish was delicious which explains how I was able to eat all that food. read more

let me stsrt by saying this. I am peruvian and this place is great. we started with yuca huancaina, huancaina cream was not too spicy, not too watery, very creamy. I had tripleta , ceviche, jalea, arroz xon marisos. Rice was soft and full of flavor. ceviche was fresh, and not overcooked. My girlfriend had lomo saltado, beef was cooked perfectly , lots of flavor. Portions were big. I had pisco sour, it was good. Two of my friends recommended this restaurant and I love peruvian food so of course I jumped at the chance when they suggested we come here for dinner on Thursday. The restaurant has a little patio area with a bar which came in clutch since it had started raining around the time we decided to meet up. The wait wasn't that long, I waited about 15-20min for a table. Once they were ready to seat us, they gave us hand sanitizer and showed us to our table. They let us know that since it was pretty busy that there would be a time limit of 90 minutes. It was understandable considering it's COVID and the only space to dine in was outside. Their drink menu was pretty interesting, they had a drink that's literally in a patron bottle! I ended up getting the Bahamas Vacation and my friends got the bulldog coronita and the cuban mojito. My drink was served in a martini glass and it was pretty fruity and light. For dinner I ordered the chaufa de carne and split it with my friend since she was getting the 1/2 chicken with fries and salad. I will definitely say this is one of the better chaufas I've had in the North NJ Area. My favorite one is from Don Alex in Elizabeth (try them!) and this comes in for a close second. Their sauce was ok but spicy enough to go well with the rice. The 1/2 chicken was also well done. Service was good, our waitress and hostess were super friendly. My only con is that the music was pretty loud so if you want a lowkey quiet dinner, this wouldn't be the place for you. I feel like this place is always packed so I decided to give it a try. We ordered a half rotisserie chicken with fries and a salad. The rotisserie chicken was very flavorful and tasty. The salad is basic but for the very affordable cost I will not complain. We also tried a mixed order of arroz chaufa that consisted of beef and chicken. I felt the beef was dry and the rice I do have to add was very greasy. The bag isn't a big deal, but it's just nice if they told you an additional charge is going added onto the bill. I've never written a review on Yelp before but I had to now. I've ordered food from this restaurant three times and the first two times were alright, but this last time I ordered an Arroz con Mariscos and it gave my girlfriend and I FOOD POISONING. I ate the majority of it so I've had the worst of it for the past 2 days. I've seen several reviewers now that have said that their food was undercooked, so this can't come as much of a surprise. I used to come to this restaurant for lunch every Friday with my best friend during our lunch break from work, only 5 minutes away. The food here is great, we always get 1/4 pollo a la brasa with fries and salad with an order of arroz chauffa. The food never lets us down, we have also ordered for our coworkers to go and they always love it. The prices are not bad and we always have leftovers which is better after we have stuffed ourselves. Only thing that bothers us that we've learned the hard way, is the minimum of $30 to use our card, or else we have to pay cash. This is a comfortable spot though for Peruvian food with music and drinks. The wait time is sometimes a pain for the waiters/waitress to come check on us, but we've come so much that the food Is worth the wait. This is the best PERUVIAN FOOD EVER ! I don't know where to start with how amazing the food taste: let's just start by saying something about that first bite of the lomo is amazing. It has this Smokey taste that gives the dish life. Then they have there yellow spicy sauce that reminds me of the haucaina sauce used as an extra flavor on the dish that is to die for. I have honestly tried about four dishes - the lomo de carne 5 stars, the chaufa mixta - which includes seafood 5 stars- some stuffed clams with like fried corn and little crumbs of seafood - 5 stars and the pollo al horno is good when you order to have in the restaurant but not for take out. I'll be honest I had one to go and it was too dry, but when I had it in it was way better. But you should really try it, and the drinks are a bit pricey but they will have enough alcohol. Although I was asked how was everything, I was not amazed about the tacu-tacu with salsa marina, pollo a la brasa was ok with two little cups of aji (looks like shots cup) it was kind of salty and not really done properly the salsa marina but what really bring my atention was to be asked for the check, "anything else or check?" (kind of rush) and when I got the check, the tip was included (15%, Funny thing I saved money) without mentioning even after the check was processed. Do you expect to get double tip? I wonder those people who got few drinks after if they can tell or are been told that the tip is included. Anyway; I understand tip can be included sometimes for big parties but you shouldn't do that or at lease let the people know. I wonder if management knows about it or perhaps they get commission too. Their tallarín a la huancaina had no flavor twice so that's a no no and I don't like their ceviche and chorlitos a la chalaca. Service is good most of the time, I had a few bad experiences.
