One of my favorite restaurants in NJ. Their chicken is great, I love their lomo saltado, chaufa and Anticuchos. Their tallarín a la huancaina had no flavor twice so that's a no no and I don't like their ceviche and chorlitos a la chalaca. Service is good most of the time, I had a few bad experiences. This was the worst delivery experience to date. To start noone who spoke English was available to take the order. I speak spanish but if I didnt that would have been fun. They sent my order to another location across town took 1 hr and a half to deliver and food was cold. When I called to ask for my food they had an attitude like 1 1.2 hrs is the usual delivery time. Not sure why this place has gotten so much hate on here, went for the first time today and everything was pretty good. My only real criticisms are that it's a cash only place, and that the Salad dressing was *REALLY* salty. Chicken was moist and generous portions, they brought out the green sauce and I asked for more WITHOUT ISSUE (again don't see the big deal about it). I ordered the 1/2 pollo a la brasa w/ tostones. The tostones were pretty good, a little too thick for my taste but thats just preference. Worst Customer Service day I've had. I come here once a month and order out and sit in. The food is amazing which is why I return. But today I had a waiter that sat us down. We were 1 table out of 5 tables that were seated in the restaurant. The waitress took our order, the food was brought and that's the last time I saw her. She never returned to ask how the food was, if we needed refills, or to pick up the plates and give us the receipt. Instead she proceeded to have a conversation with a coworker and leave without even handing over the table to another server. When a manager was request there wasn't one available because there wasn't one present. I talk about this place to everyone I know as the best Peruvian restaurant and I even drive 30 minutes to come here, but I won't be returning nor will I recommend it. read more

One of the best Lomo Saltados you can fin in New Jersey as well as their Pollo a la Brasa and any of their ceviches. Those are my top 3 things I get when I go there. However beware if you don't like loud environments then this isn't the place for you and keep in mind there's a $30 CC minimum. The food definitely makes up for it though. The best Peruvian food in Jersey and they have Henny-Rita's! Need I say more!? Ample parking and located in a good location away from the usual chaos of Paterson. Good service overall. Drinks are nice and strong and happy hour is cheap. I really wish I could give it more stars but I think I'm just being generous. The problem isn't really the food. It's the service that kills it for me. There really isn't a system to make everything run smoothly. The management need to re-work everything before they go in red. I don't know how they are still in business. The layout of the restaurant is poor. The owners/management didn't plan correctly. And to be honest I don't think the food is that great. It's passable but nothing to rave about. The food is delicious and the plates are large but the service was very unsatisfactory. I went with a group of 4 and they brought out 3 of the plates and the 4th one took and additional 10-12 minutes to come out. Once the dish came out I advised them that it was incorrect it was suppose to be chicken not steak. The manager came to our table with a bit of attitude to inquire what was wrong. The chicken ala brasa was the selling point for me, it was the best chicken I've had in a long time, and I eat chicken like every day. Moist, tender, done to perfection, with great seasoning, and a great smoky flavor that is so pleasantly executed. Fries were okay. Salad had a nice dressing, but basically only consisted of iceberg lettuce and one slice of beet. When the beet was gone, there was nothing else in the salad to look forward to. But for a spectacular half of a chicken, a heaping portion of fries, and salad for nine bucks, I should not moan too loudly. In addition, my guest's steak was received well. There was one catching point. When we first were greeted, the young waitress asked what we'd like to drink. My guest ordered a soda, and I, plain water. She came back and plunked down a bottle of Pepsi and another of Poland Spring. My guest mentioned he'd like soda served fountain-style, in a glass. I said I'd like a glass of water. The waitress was communicating in English. She removed the bottles, and the next thing I know, the manager was towering over us with an unpleased expression. I calmly explained what we wished for, and he visibly relaxed and smiled. But it felt as if she wasn't able to handle a basic request without calling on the manager. And to be approached with such an expression--what had she told him about us that made him initially so suspect, and caused an unnecessary moment of discomfort for us? I felt as if I'd somehow misbehaved in class and she'd summoned the dean on me. A real "sheesh" moment--unfortunate. Like others' comments here, the service end needs some tightening up. read more

Ok, let's start with the basics: Peruvian Rotisserie chicken was ok, I ordered half with salad and fries. I really don't eat fries so I asked if I could substitute it with another portion of a salad and they declined my request. So negative points for not offering a substitution. They don't offer the traditional green aji sauce that is native to Peruvian Chicken. Chicken tenderness was ok, not as moist as I would have preferred. Their lunch "menu" was ok. My friend had pork chops, and well my mother ordered a chaufa/chicken "menu" but they forgot her second dish, since it took forever for the waitress to realize what she missed, we just asked for it to go. All in all, customer service is seriously lacking. I rather drive another 5 minutes and go to Paterson for better Peruvian food. They need to train their staff in customer service. My family and I went to this place this past weekend, I really liked the food here, we ordered the Tripleta (mix seafood rice, Jalea and ceviche) it was awesome. The Parillada had the flavor of the anticuchos, wow!! Really loved itYou can taste the charcoal in the meats and chicken. The recipe of this rostisserie chicken had a little bit of cinnamon, but if you like the cinnamon taste you should try it. The Chicha (purple corn drink) is DELICIOUS! They have no heat inside the restaurant, it's colder inside than outside, I was here a month ago and they said it had just happened. This is ridiculous, the waiters and waitresses work with their jackets on, I'm not ever coming back here. When it comes time to order is the only time you'll see a waiter or waitress, then you'll spend the rest of your time trying to get their attention, and they have the nerve to include the tip. I always tip but most places I've eaten, the waiter comes at least once to ask you if you're ok. So in conclusion, I had to eat with my jacket on, they had the nerve to include 15% tip and when I politely asked some pregnant rude and nasty lady at the register, what that 6 dollars and some Change was, she said it was the tip for the staff that they charge by law (law, lol, ok right) and if I didn't like it, to eat at home, I was in shocked. Attention owner, if you want to stay in business, FIX YIOUR HEAT, GET RID OF THAT NASTY PREGNANT LADY IN THE FRONT AND GET REAL WAITERS & WAITRESSES. I always tip 20% but to include 15% for only 2 people with no heat and nasty staff, now that's nervy. Here is a tip for you, mr. owner you're staff knows they're automatically getting a tip so they don't have to be nice to your customers, there's is no incentive for them to be kind, and professional to your customers, the only one that will hurt from this is you and your business, you're staff won't care if you close down, they'll just go work somewhere else. The place kicks ass! There are several locations, I went to the one on Cianci Street several times. The use real wood charcoal which imparts a superior flavor on the chicken and meat (palomilla) than the other places that use gas fired rotisseries. They pollo ala brasa comes with fries AND a salad plus 3 types of aji. It is cooked to perfection, tender and juicy and seasoned perfectly. They do other Peruvian specialties too. Last time my wife got the lomo saltado which was awesome and had the Jalea with was a deep fried seafood medley with fried yuca that I had to take half home because the portion was that big (and I can eat too!) . aS FOR prices it is VERY reasonably and it is BYOB.
