This restaurant has a clean, crisp decor. Small and unique. Although the seats are lacking in comfort the overall atmosphere was relaxing and modern. Now for the food. Amazing! Pure and simple. Amazing. Fresh, authentic and very delicious. I took away one star for the plastic dishes. Plastic gets scratched and old and hides little creatures. To their credit, their dishes did not show wear. My partner and I tried to go to a place we've been once downtown, and Spring Break is happening it seems so everywhere around it including said place had long waits. We decided to find something new, i looked at what was around online and we walked a few blocks to D E Thai. It's TINY, and adorable, and looks very fun and like it belongs downtown in the Arts District. I always get the same thing at a thai place on my first visit, and this wasn't an exception. I ordered Pad See Ew with no egg and with tofu, and the server says "vegan yea?" "yea!". She was LOVELY, and NOBODY EVER HAS SAID THAT TO ME and it made me feel really happy, and lemme tell you-it was in the top 5 i've ever had. I've been to nationally ranked and famous thai places in the states, and this was up there. I told the server this was worlds better than the famous Lotus of Siam which is also in Vegas. My partner got the Larb dish, and they have high standards for thai food too-lost their darn mind :-) The place was spotless, all Covid restrictions and additions were in place, and I wanted another order of the PSE. Small Thai restaurant in downtown with a fairly straightforward menu, reasonable prices, and good quality. I had the Khao Soi, a dish that I've previously had at one of the best Thai restaurants in the country (which is also in Vegas--you may know which restaurant this is already). So, that's the bar--the previous Khao Soi was a 5. This is a 4. The seasoning was nice, the noodles were cooked properly, everything about the meal was solidly done. It was a good enough experience that I'd come back for more. Misc: When I say small I do mean small--this probably seats 10 or so people. Small cozy place. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with deciding our choices. We had soft shell crab and calamari. It was good but the sauce with it makes it better. I had the kao soi, flat noodles with northern Thai curry at a level 7 spicy and it was amazing. It was spicy and sweet with a creamy consistency. My daughter and I were so happy to find this small Thai restaurant while shopping in the arts district. Really high-quality ingredients and delicious dishes. My daughter had the Pad Thai and I had the Pad See Eew. Best noodle dish I've ever had! They only have a few tables, so there may be a wait. It's worth it. We are both wimps when it comes to spice. Found myself wanting Thai downtown and Le Thai had a wait, so I thought we'd try this place again. Much better! The food was served hot, quick, and it was tasty. I think restaurants need a few visits before you can honestly write an honest review. This is our second meal at DE Thai. I have been pleased on both occasions. Pros and Cons..... 1st the Cons: The location is small. There aren't very many tables. Parking is terrible. It's downtown in the arts district. If your aren't lucky to get one of the 3 spots close by....then be prepared for a walk. Not a long walk, mind you....(it's only 2 min on Google maps) but you are walking about 400 ft. So if you are mobility restricted, try to get dropped of at the curb. Aaaaand that's the extent of the bad points. Pros: The food. It's great. I love Pad Thai. DE did not disappoint. My wife has loved the dishes she has had. We will be back. read more

Papaya salad with shrimp: $12 Spicy level: 7/10 Rating: 7/10 Exactly how you might imagine papaya salad would taste. Came with 3 pieces of shrimp, so not sure if it added anything to the dish. Beef boat noodle soup: $12 Spicy level: 5/10 Rating: 5/10 Really funky flavors. Towards the bottom, there was more blood? and more liver? The top of the soup was less funky. Also has tripe in it. Always my top choice when it comes to Thai food. Absolutely the BEST. I love their drunken noodles with tofu. The way they cut and cook the tofu gives it a very tasty texture. Pleasantly surprised with D E Thai! Just one street over from Vesta, I would not have thought to venture further but I am glad I did. This is a cute place, a few parking spots (look for the elephant mural), limited seating (15-20). Friendly staff, quick service, tasty Thai food! I will be back to try more dishes but so far, so good. I ordered for pick up, I will dine in next time to order off of the "hidden menu". Price is fair considering this is the arts district. Chicken pad see ew was delicious, chewy noodles, veggies, and chicken tasting grilled and flavorful. Panang curry was creamy and thinner broth than expected but still good. I've been to DE Thai Kitchen twice now and both times have been pleasant experiences. It's a great spot to stop into when you're exploring the arts district - an area that up until recently didn't have a lot of food options. On my last visit I noticed that most people were looking to dine in even though DE Thai Kitchen only has really 2 tables (3 if they put one outside but it's hot in the summer). I'll admit I felt a little anxious with such a steady flow of customers looking to order and be seated in this tiny restaurant that probably anticipated doing mostly takeout. This would certainly be a good problem to have if it wasn't a global pandemic but the moral of the story is the food is good and the signage on the street attracts a lot of passerby. On to the food - the fresh springs rolls were crispy and fresh, presented beautifully and served with a side of peanut sauce. I ordered the spicy basil fried rice which was very flavorful and super filling. The star of the show however was the Khao Soi. We get it pretty much any time we see it on the menu but rarely have we had it done this well. First off the dish is beautiful. A gorgeous swirling of chili oil in the thick yellow curry. I love the sides of red onions and mustard leaf. The chicken inside was both of the pounded variety you typically find in a Thai curry and a drumstick that falls off the bone tucked at the very bottom. This is a huge meal and has so many layers and it's just a pleasure to eat. I'd say it's the best Khao Soi we've had in Las Vegas easily. I don't know if I would recommend getting it to go, so that's the only problem is that a visit to DE Thai Kitchen depends on whether there is seating available but it's worth the wait. read more

My review will strictly be on what I ordered: Larb (pork): WOW. I've had many larb dishes and this one has got to be in my top 3. Extremely flavorful and well-balanced-- from the aroma of the fresh herbs, to the heat of the chilies and the tenderness of the pork, every bite had me wanting more and I never wanted it to end. The acidity was just right for me and the umami from the fish sauce was superb. MUST GET THIS WITH STICKY RICE! Tom Kha: This is a staple for my partner in any Thai restaurant-- she loves sour coconut soup and well, she absolutely fell in love with this. Broth was light, clean, and made you feel like you were dining in someone's home. Excellent. Khao Soi: This was not on the menu when I visited and I was extremely disappointed at first because this was the reason I came here. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner and asked him if they still offered it and in his immediate response he said, "THAT'S MY SPECIALTY!" And just like that I GOT MY KHAO SOI! The broth wasn't watery like the majority I've tasted, but instead it had a velvety viscosity and caressed your tastebuds with each sip and each slurp. The complexity of spices in the curry was insanely complex and balanced. I WANT MORE! OVERALL: Do not let the size of this place fool you. The owner is pleasant and kind. I have never been to Thailand before, but there was something about his food that made me feel like I've been to Thailand a thousand times.
