I have been eating there for at least 40 years. And as they say in their advertising, it's their bread that makes it different. They bake their rolls every morning. So sometimes they run out before they close. And you either love or hate their bread. Since its crispy crust breaks into many small pieces as you eat it. But I like their messy fresh bread! And others have said, they don't put a lot of meat. But you can get two types of meat on a full grinder for no extra cost. And they added many optional free toppings in the last few years, to make them even better, like sprouts, black olives, bell peppers, cucumbers, and red onions. It may not be the best grinder I have ever had, but it's consistently better and different from every other one. And you can call in your order, so you don't have to wait for it up to 30 minutes when they're busy. So if you like crispy fresh made bread, you'll probably love their grinders like I do. One of my cousins who moved 600 miles away, wanted to go there for lunch, when she came back to visit a few years after she moved. That's how much she liked it! And one of my friends that moved to Texas, always eats there when he comes back too! That's how much they like it, and you probably will too! read more

My favorite places to go eat sandwiches! They're fast and you can call ahead if you want to skip a wait. Both locations are nice as well.

BEWARE WHEN YOU CALL IN AN ORDER. YOU WILL BE MOVED TO THE END OF THE LINE WITH EACH AND EVERY WALK IN. I called in an order and was there to pick it up 25 minutes later. Was told it it would be another half hour as they were short handed. Ok understandable. they give me a buzzer and was told I could wait in my car and they would buzz me. Ok again. Half hour later when I looked up from my book and was walking inside, I noticed that cars and had parked after me and the occupants and gone to the walk up aisle were no longer there. all right possible. I went to the counter and asked when my order would be ready and was told I was second in line. Well customers kept walking in and leaving with there orders while I was still waiting. I inquired and asked why customers were waling in and out while I still waited and was told that there was different service for walk ins. sure enough I notices two turn wheels. One full must be call ins. and one empty. when an order was placed on it it was filled right away. 1 hour and 20 minutes later I asked for a refund. The manager came to give it to me. two people told her she should refund me but give me a free order. She said quote"she does not want to wait". This after waiting for over and hour. everyone working there were kids. I HAD been a customer for over 50 years and service was always good. I don't know is running the place now but the owners should look into what they are doling. read more

I should probably give them a 4 star for my wife she absolutely loves this place. We went back in our college days in the early 70's. I wasn't a big fan then or now. I had a whole pastrami with pickles and mustard and a side of potato salad, my wife had the whole meatball grinder. My sandwich was good not great as was the potato salad. Wife really liked the meatball but said that she felt they were making them different now. Finding a clean table was a bit of a challenge we ended up cleaning one ourselves. They have someone constantly cleaning but she doesn't seem to be able to keep up. Not sure if we'll go back again it's a nostalgia thing and it's changed for us. If you haven't been it's worth a try. I should note also they do bake their own bread. read more

Absolutely horrible!! I havent been here in a few years, so I decided to come here and get a grinder for dinner. My bill was extremely high! After I paid, I sat down and looked at my receipt. I was charged for 2 large subs, I only ordered one. So they refunded my money and put in a new order. So I sat down and waited and waited and waited! 40 mins go by and I go to the front counter asking where my food was? They didnt have my order! Asked if I got a buzzer, I said yes. Brought them the buzzer. We dont have your order! So I brough back my receipt showing them. After 5 mins of explaining to them what my order was, they finally started making my food. 20 mins later my food came out. Missing my pasta salad. So I went back in, they gave me the salad. I asked for a fork and they slide me a fork across the very dirty counter! Got home, of course the grinder was wrong! No flavor, bread was hard, even cut my lip on it. I spoke to the manager, got her name and asked for the owners name. I will be contacting the owner tomorrow! Never again!! read more

I have been going to D'elias since I was about 3 years old. My dad used to take me there when it was a walk up sandwich shop. I couldn't wait to get a strawberry shake. Now, in my late 50s, its a ham grinder?, extra meat and add mayo and a strawberry soda. Regardless, the quality never changes. I grew up eating here and one of my dearest friends who lives out of state makes sure the it is the first place she eats when she gets in and the last place before she leaves. We love it! read more

Good food. However, if you are bringing kids with you prepare to bring some disinfectant wipes as their high chair is the dirtiest. I usually have to wipe it multiple times to be comfortable enough to put my kid in it. I dont think their high chairs get wiped or cleaned at all. read more

We went to D'Elia's today and ordered takeout. We were passing through the area and were craving some good crunchy bread grinders. We ordered 4 sandwiches to go. Two tuna, one roast beef, and one Italian sandwich with capacolla, ham, etc. We were very disappointed with the amount of meat on both of the meat grinders. Had it not been for the lettuce and tomatoes, it literally would have been almost all bread. Very sad that this wonderful establishment has lost its luster. read more
