I grew up very near here and we stopped by for our first tour ever on a recent visit. We were so very pleasantly surprised at how interesting this tour was. This has been in our own backyard for 50+ years and we should have done this sooner. We had THE BEST tour guide. We did not get her name but it was obvious she LOVES what she does and she wore a red rain slicker, had dark hair and carried a small purple yeti type drink cooler. She obviously enjoys her job, giving tours, and was such a delight. After the tour you get two free samples as well. We tried two beers we would not normally have tried and they were fabulous. I hope the owners of Yuengling truly know how great this lady was and how much joy she gave us today.

Great tour and tasting at America's Oldest Brewery. Our tour guide today gave us lots of historical interesting facts during our 1hr tour and all 4 of us enjoyed it being from TX and KS and loving Yuengling beer. We had no idea how many options they had until the tasting as only 2 are available in our states. Tasting after the tour was great as we each got to choose 2 options to try. The gift shop had lots of merchandise at varying price points and none of us left empty handed. I'm amazed the tour is free and highly recommend to anyone visiting in the area.

Amazing tour! Free to the public for an hour tour. As long as everyone in the group follows the rules it is a very enjoyable tour

Coolest brewery tour I've ever done - and it's FREE . Dustin was a great tour guide - I was amazed how much information he gave us and had it all memorized . When in production, they can fill around 1000 cans a minute! We got to go behind the scenes and see how Americas First brewery came to be . After the tour, we got two 7oz samples of our beer of choice . I tried the mango and premium lager . Both were awesome . Nice gift shop too . Stop by to check it out if you find yourself driving through the Pottsville PA area

Thanks to a friend of mine on Yelp, I discovered the Yuengling Brewery and it's tour. My wife and I took the 2 hour drive from NJ this weekend with my 2 stepsons, one of which just turned 21. We had a really fun time! Yuengling does an excellent job in the visitor's center of detailing it's history, going back to 1829. The tour lasts roughly one hour and is free. Our tour guide did a great job of explaining each different section of the brewery. You start by walking into these caves which were built almost 200 years ago! It's fascinating to see the process of brewing beer that long ago. There are also brick walls put up by the government at the start of Prohibition. During that time Yuengling used the plant to become a creamery selling ice cream. The history in the building is amazing! Maybe the best part for some, is at the end when you get samples of 2 different beers. We learned during the tour that there are a few beers only sold in PA. I got one of those, a Chesterfield, along with a Black & Tan. We also purchased a large growler of B&T to take home. The gift shop here has everything you could ever want from Yuengling. We brought home shirts, sweater, glasses, you name it! Many thanks to Eloy for letting us know about this place!

No more until April when our Ohio friends visit again.

In 2021, Becky and I visited friends in Ohio. That is where I learned of this delicious beer that is Yuengling. Once I discovered how much I loved Yuengling Lager, I would order it everywhere we went while in Ohio. I'd gleefully yell it out, "Yuengling"! Yuengling quickly became one of my all-time favorite beers! I carefully tucked 12 cans into my suitcase so I could have some when I arrived back home in San Diego. Our friends have visited us in San Diego four times since our visit to Ohio. They've brought Yuengling to me every time. Awesome friends indeed! Why had I never heard of Yuengling? Why must I smuggle it in my suitcase and they in theirs? I'll tell you why. Founded in Pottsville, PA, Yuengling is the oldest brewery in America. They've been in existence since 1829. One would think that after 193 years they would have figured out distribution by now. Nope. So far they've only managed to make it as far west as Texas. C'mon Yuengling! Please make it to California before your 200th anniversary!

Awesome (free) tour with a free tasting at the end. The history is fascinating and the tour is just the right amount of time. I've gone twice and learned something new even the second time. The tour does have quite a few stairs, but they will warn you ahead of time and give you a chance to exit if you are not wanting to continue. Additionally, there is plenty of street parking around the brewery.I can't wait for Yuengling to make it to Minnesota.

Our visit to Yuengling brewery was fantastic. We took the free tour and our guide was excellent. Stepping into the brewery and the tunnels is like stepping way back in history. The brewery is the oldest brewery in the U.S, and if only the walls could talk, you wonder what they would say. We walked through the tunnels, saw the bottling area, and the upper floor. It was well worth the time. Mr. B was in heaven. I will say, there are lots of stairs to climb so if you have mobility issues, it could be a problem. We didn't see an elevator, so I would ask before taking the tour. The gift store is large and filled with everything Yuengling, well worth the visit if you don't have time for the tour. After the tour we ended in the tasting room and were given two samples each. The tasting room is only for guests on the tour. You can't go in and taste unless you do the tour. Which isn't a problem, this way they can control the crowds. I tried the Raging Eagle Mango and Flight. The Flight beer is a light beer, the Raging Eagle Mango was more my style. I enjoyed it very much. There is a slight sweetness from the mango. Mr. B went with the dark brewed porter and of course had to try the seasonal special. Hershey's Chocolate Porter. The brewery has partnered with Hershey's to create this special beer. It was delicious and not real chocolate forward, just a rich beer with a finish of light chocolate. Our tour guide gave me just a sip of the Oktoberfest and it too was really nice. It was a fun afternoon of touring the brewery, tasting and shopping for gifts to bring home.

I want to preface this by saying I am in no way a Yuengling fan, but I am a fan of historical places. On a recent vacation I wanted to do something especially since my original plans had fallen through. I looked around a map to see what was available and where I haven't been before, and this popped up. I showed up a bit before the tour started and ended up browsing a bit of the gift store. I encourage you to look up the website prior to your arrival. That way you have a little heads up. They ask that you were the appropriate footwear and you find out the times when tours start. Now if you are me, you want to get the most out of a tour of a historic site. I don't like to be pushed around and I like to listen. That means I like to be the last one out of an area so that I can take a picture of what I find interesting. I don't want to bore you with every little detail, so I'll do the highlights. The dungeon as I call it is quite interesting. The best part of it is the prohibition walls, the nearly dried up natural spring, and how it has built in air conditioning. Walking through the rest of the factory you get to see how Yuengling is made. Some things that I found interesting. That when prohibition hit they decided to make ice cream, evident by the top of the not so well known building. They are next door neighbors with a church with eight inches to spare. That this is not the original brewery and the original one is where town hall now sits. The original name of Yuengling was Eagle Brewery, that's why there is an eagle on the bottle. I learnt so many new things here that I have a new appreciation of Yuengling. The end of the tour takes you through what I assume was where they had an ice cream parlor. Then you get to sample some of the brews that were discussed on the tour. After that you can then hit up the gift shop again. It is like you make one big circle in here. And with that, you have review 2,400 from me.

D.G. Yuengling & Son is a historic brewery that opened in Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1829. It was founded by German immigrant David Gottlieb Yuengling (anglicized from "Jüngling"). After arriving from Aldingen, Germany in 1828, David opened the "Eagle Brewery" on Centre Street in Pottsville a year later. The brewery burned down in 1831, and a new facility was built at its current location on Mahantongo Street. After David's son Frederick joined the company in 1873, the brewery was renamed "D.G. Yuengling & Son". Although the name changed, the bald eagle has continued to be the brewery's emblem. During Prohibition, all beer production ceased with the exception of their Porter (which was used for medicinal purposes) and "near beers" (beer with a 0.5% ABV or less). The company also began manufacturing ice cream to stay in business. Beer production resumed once Prohibition ended. Since 1985, the company has been run by 5th generation owner Richard Yuengling Jr. His four daughters are set to take over once he retires. In addition to Pottsville, Yuengling also has production facilities in nearby Mill Creek as well as Tampa (FL). Yuengling is the oldest operating brewery in the United States and sixth largest overall. My family and I recently visited the Yuengling Brewery while we were staying nearby in the Poconos. Touring the brewery has been on my bucket list for some time. Although Yuengling isn't in my Top 10 favorite breweries (or even Top 25 for that matter), I must give them credit for staying family-owned and independent for nearly 200 years and for consistently producing a reasonably-priced quality beer. Our tour started in the visitor center, which is housed in the old creamery building across the street from the main building. From there we crossed the street and saw the old hand-dug beer caves where beer was stored in the days before electricity and refrigeration. We then worked our way upstairs to the brew system and production line. Our guide explained that 90% of all canned Yuengling beer is still produced in Pottsville. Our tour ended at the taproom in the visitor center. Beers we sampled included "Premium Beer" (Pilsner), "Golden Pilsner", "Dark Brewed Porter" and "Bongo Fizz" (Fruit Beer). The latter (brewed with mangos) was our favorite and we purchased a case to take home. This was probably the coolest brewery tour we've ever been on; a real living history lesson!

First of all we can't get Yuengling on the west coast . Hopefully soon. And as for the tour of the facility was an experience! Just supper and got to try samples at the end and I loved the black and tan. Now the million dollar question... will you (hopefully soon) be on the west coast ?????

Definitely the place to go. First time visiting America's oldest brewery, and was definitely not disappointed. The tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable about the brewery and the history behind it. Would highly recommend visiting this place..

I had visited the Yuengling Brewery in 2013 and thought it was fun, but that the beer was bad and I don't know if I enjoyed the visit as much as I could have. I came back here with my family back in June and it was a much more fun experience overall. The tour was very fun and informative and we all enjoyed going through the cave. The old tasting room was retired and the new tasting room is pretty large and just down the hall from the old one. They had 10 beers on tap and you get 2 drinks free per person. There were 5 of us, so we got to try them all and they were much better than they previously have been. They also had a local root beer on tap that was absolutely delicious and one I wish I could find down here in Tennessee. Yuengling is a great place to visit and a must see if you're in the area!

We chose to visit the National Cemetery next door to pay respects to my father whose ashes are interred there. For brunch we chose Snitz Creek and were both surprised that it was a brewery open for breakfast on a Sunday. The Annville location was busy but not chaotic. The interior was clean and stocked full of merch as well as ample supplies of their crafted beverages. We were seated and served immediately by friendly staff. Young Krugaar and I sat together and I shared stories of his grandfather's adventures in the Blavatskian Art of Spiritualism, particularly his efforts to conjure the spirit of Georges Fauntli (the 18th century wizard responsible for preventing the Great Cataclysm of 1749 and rescuing Pope Clement XIII from Malebolgian insurrectionists.) Father was successful in extricating the sacred word from Fauntli confirming their connection across the void. Krugaar was also shocked to learn of father's role in recovering the sacred Ark from the German Army in Somalia in 1943 and its restoration to its secret location. Krugaar shared his success in taming the energies of the recent solar surge to enchant his mighty battle axe which he has dubbed 'Gorm Gudbruund'. Its power is only felt by supernatural creatures so he has yet to test his new weapon in combat against the dark forces. The Snitz Creek Special omelet was my order, in honor of father who would celebrate Father's Day with a plate of chipped beef on toast and scrambled eggs. My mother would pile the plate high to his delight. By comparison, this fat, delicious omelet represented something father would have adored - packed with potatoes, cheese, and crispy chipped beef and so flavorful. The Texas toast came covered in melted butter with just the perfect browning. I look forward to trying their special recipe for Creamed Chipped Beef next time. The turnaround in the kitchen was impressive based on the quality and quantity produced. Krugaar indulged in the meat lover omelet which he said was not greasy for something with so much ham, sausage, and bacon. He enjoyed it. He did not smash his coffee mug to the floor in praise, however, showing he has acclimated to this normative culture. The beer choices were intriguing and I was delighted to see the affordable growler options for their tapped selection. I took something home based entirely on the name - "The Smelly Smell That Smells Smelly" which boldly boasted anchovies as part of its ingredients. I gifted this to our lab technician, Ivor.
