My dad has been in a hair styling business for as long as I can remember. I've always gotten my cuts from him. When I took a trip to Waikiki and needed a trim, I trusted in Lisa. She was great!! Even though that was the first time meeting her, felt like I was family. She is very nice, warm, and knows what she's doing. We connected really well and got to talk about a number of things when I was there. I left with a very stylish haircut. I highly recommend! She is right next to the Rainbow Drive-in. I've been coming here for a few years and watched Lisa's kids grow up in pictures pasted around the shop. She is a one person operation and I've frequently walked in to find a full house of regulars patiently waiting their turn. If the wait is long she will ask if you would like to, "come back a little later". If you agree, you've got a reserved spot no matter who walks in or calls in later. I called yesterday and made an appointment for 2pm today and arrived early. Lisa immediately acknowledged me with a greeting and a heads up about the wait. She was very personable and funny when it was my turn. She cracked jokes and got to know me. That's all well and good but what matters most is the haircut and she did not disappoint. While cleaning she asked me what I wanted done. I told her and she understood. When she was ready to cut, she asked again to make sure and I showed her a photo of what I wanted after my next cut, with this one being intermediary. She zoomed in on the photo and immediately understood what I wanted. She told me exactly what she was going to do--a 2-1 fade while leaving the top untouched as I wanted--and started. She got straight to buzzing with my mask on, undoing the specific side she needed only when necessary. It wasn't an obstacle at all and it was honesty impressive how deftly she handled it. Her moves were swift and exact and within a few minutes she was done and it was exactly what I wanted. Not to sound dramatic, but prior to this I'd resigned myself to just taking a #1 buzzer to my head and wearing a hat, but seeing how enjoyable of an experience this was, I'm glad to say I've found a barber who I want to continue seeing. Did I mention it was only $14? That's half a Supercut and even smaller of a percentage of a high end barber, yet i'm the most satisfied with a haircut I've been, really, ever. She also takes credit via Square on her phone, which is more than many other shops in the area can say. Alas, that ended up sounding dramatic, but the reviews speak for themselves.
