    D-K-Che torta and fruit drinks
    M A.

I was never a fan of tortas, but after eating a turkey torta, I'm officially going to say that I liked the one I had couple days ago at D-K-Che! I'm in and plan to make tortas as a part of my sandwich selection at restaurants/shops in future. Just to slow things down though, I want to do baby steps and actually stick to D-K-Che Fruteria's torta. Not too sure what it was for me, but my hunch, it may have been the bread and its size. The bread size was not the average that of a torta sandwich, ultra soft on inside, little crunch on the outside and all the fixings that came with it. I even liked the non hot/spicey jalepenos. The torta could have been made with a little more turkey and romaine lettuce. Other than this, it was perfect torta and delicious. And, it did not fall apart, like most breads do. So far, D-K-Che is has the best tasting torta in town. My daughter had been going to this place since Covid days. She usually purchases acai, fruit bowls, and fruit drinks. She is a fan of D-K-Che. On the other hand, my partner loves the tortas, chamango and other fruit drinks. Also a fan but may sometimes venture off to other places in imperial beach to see what's out there in terms of price and taste. Side note. We had tried the carne asada torta. Let's just say, carne asada is made for tacos and not tortas. Will not buy again. We all get inflation, but I sure hope D-K-Che does not inflate their prices again. Stay humble.

Açaí bowls are excellent along with the smoothies and milkshakes. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Worth every dollar.

    "Ceaser salad"

Don't get the chicken ceaser salad, it's all croutons and excessive paramasen. The chicken portion was good and all I ate.

Fresh squeezed OJ. Couldn't get a better morning drink than this. I try to come here often for tortas or mix fruit bowls because the ladies here put in effort and the food is amazing. Check it out if you haven't been here yet! My favorite is Torta Cubana.

I have to update my review. This place has never let me down with their tortas and acai bowl! I'm reviewing and giving them a 5 star for the items above. Employees are nicer. Best acai bowls & tortas

This location is inconspicuous, but I can always count on Yelp to help me find new places in parts of town I'm unfamiliar with. I decided to take a stroll on the beach and wanted to enjoy an acaí bowl afterwards. This place came up on Yelp in the first few options. Customer service was decent. Although it's a sit-down restaurant, they have the interior completely blocked off and you can only place orders at a table they have stationed at the door. I was satisfied with my acaí bowl. But I have to be honest...when I got the container, I felt it was overpriced. But as I ate it, I realized it was actually really filling and well made. I would definitely go back for another bowl or to try some of the other items on their menu.

Fruit Salad w/tajin and chamoy was good!!

The last time I visited this business, it was still called Los Pollos Rotisserie and Cuban Bakery…read more That shows you how long it has been because House of Cuban Flavor has been the name for more than a few years now under the same ownership. It's located in one of the middle suites between an auto parts store and a supermarket in an Otay strip mall of Chula Vista. Parking was plentiful as there were way more spaces in the lot than customers even at peak hours. There were a few tables placed on the sidewalk in front of the suite, but no seating was available inside. The coffee making station was to the right when you walked in. To the left of the service counter were glass displays containing the baked goods and desserts. Four small menu boards hung behind the counter. From left to right, the category on each board was Sandwiches, Cuban Specialties, Plates & Combos, and Bowls. Several trays in the display case were empty during my afternoon visit. The cashier ensured me that nothing was sold out. Items that were not displayed still could be ordered and made fresh by the kitchen. The Cuban Specialties were broken down further into Stuffed Potato Balls, Empanadas, and Pastries. Each offering cost $2.45 regardless of its composition. That was disappointing because I have encountered similar bakeries in which there were similar choices for less than $2 apiece. My order started with one of each of the potato balls (meat, spicy chicken, jalapeno & cheese) including a variety that wasn't listed (spicy pork). These were fried and then placed inside a cardboard takeout container. Each of the four had a slightly different color and/or texture to distinguish them from each other. The size was slightly smaller than a tennis ball. The meat filling was my favorite because it had the least heat as the other three contained noticeable spiciness. I also bought a meat empanada, a guava pastry, and a mango & cheese pastry. The pastry dough was light and flaky. The portion size was less impressive for $2.45. I recall when some of these were sold for one dollar less so the value has decreased over time. The fruit flavor of the guava and mango respectively was sweet but not over the top. For this recent experience at House of Cuban Flavor, I gave a 3.5 star rating.

I literally told my sister "oooh a deli, I want a torta after" and then I headed into Bellus. As I was walking in the owner of this deli confronted me telling me not to park there and I let him know I had just been dropped off and wouldn't be taking up any of his parking and he continued "the car, the car" so persistently I had to just about yell at him that she left and we weren't parked there. Mind you his establishment was completely empty at the time. Not that it would be an excuse if we did park there( which I would never do). Throughout my entire appointment I was thinking about how crazy he came at me and when I decided to mention it to the esthetician student doing my facial she mentioned she had ordered some tostilocos from him the day prior that came with apple on them (unusual) and that the cueritos on them were mushy and when she asked for her money back on them he had an attitude about it, which I believe given what I saw from him today. On my way out I stopped to let him know that I was a potential customer and he totally deterred me from patronizing his business. Oh and shocker: his place was still empty when I told him this and it was lunchtime. Interesting.

I loved that they had a pre-made sandos ready to grab and go, so we each grabbed our own boxes and a matcha. The box I had, included a shrimp sando, egg salad sando and a mango cream sando. I also ordered a large corn matcha, I am really into corn matchas. They also had, pork and chicken as an option for protein, an all fruit box and poke. They have hot food too, we'll definitely have to come back to try it. The shrimp sando was so good, super flavorful and whatever sauce they use I ended up using as a little dip for my egg sandwich. The fruit was really fresh, my mango still had a really good bite to it and it wasn't too sweet at all. My matcha, was delicious, I opted for the large because I was acting as tour guide. The matcha had good flavoring and the corn was not at all overpowering, perfect amount of sweetness. I will definitely be craving that matcha and whenever I'm in National city I'll definitely have to check them out.
