I used to live just across the street from DK's Donuts, so I've been here plenty of times, and it's easily one of the best donut shops around. The donuts themselves are phenomenal, but they also make really solid breakfast options if you're not in the mood for something sweet. Their breakfast croissant sandwiches and bagel sandwiches are both great and worth trying. That said, the real standout here is their Vietnamese iced coffee. It's honestly the best I've had anywhere. I've tried Vietnamese iced coffee in different places across the U.S., and nothing has come close to DK's. Whatever they're doing, they've clearly figured it out, and it's a big reason I keep coming back. Parking is easy, and the inside is exactly what you'd expect from a classic donut shop. The staff is friendly and easy to work with, whether you're ordering something quick or picking out a larger order. They also offer a great variety of themed donuts for events like birthdays, holidays, work parties, or kids' celebrations, in addition to their regular selection. On top of that, they're available on delivery apps like DoorDash and Grubhub, which makes it even easier to get their coffee, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches when you don't feel like going out. Located on Grand, in the 7Eleven shopping center, is DK's. DK's is always clean and welcoming. They have plenty of seats and have good customer service. The donuts are always super fluffy and cooked properly. It's my wife's favorite. read more

Local doughnut shop, serving tasty pastries. When we got there in the later morning there was a short line. I'm not surprised...they have good doughnuts. They even have cronuts (croissant donuts)! They have a variety of donuts, some coffee, and some soft drinks. They keep it simple and it's working. They have some indoor seating, but most took their donuts to go. Parking available outside. This has gotta be one of the best donut shops I have tried in the area. Totally beats the local fancy pastry shops down the streets ! Why? Well I had came later in the day and their donuts were still very moist , not dry , or day old , and each bite was equally sweet and sugared. By the way , they have a VARIETY of near decorated donuts that change daily. That day was minions and ninja turtles when we arrived. Service is same as any donut shop, nothing special. Was in town for a friends softball tournament and wanted to stop and get some coffee. It was right on the way to the fields so stopping at D K's worked out perfectly. Ok I'll start with the coffee. Not only was the coffee hot and tasty but they had out flavored Coffeemate Creamers for our coffee. so awesome! Many places will give regular half and half or the tasteless powder. I was so pleased. Now the doughnuts . Not only were they delicious, but they're adorable! Other then the standard chocolate bars and old fashions, they also make ones with colored frosting, multicolored sprinkles with little character flags or designs. I got my friends daughter a purple frosting doughnut with an LOL Doll flag on it. They also bake doughnuts repeatedly because both times I was in there they were bringing out fresh trays of doughnuts. Amazing. Love them and I'll be back next weekend for vacation and I'll visit them again. read more

I'm a Sunshine Donuts fanatic, but they're closed for the New Years, so we came here. I knew nothing about it. I'm glad we came here! Sunshine (in Nipomo) excels at Cake donuts, but the raised donut holes here were to die for! I loved the rainbow of sprinkle frosting options, and got a purple one and an orange one. I was surprised at the subtle lavender flavor of the purple frosting -- I was just expecting it to be colored, not flavored! It was a pleasant surprise. The REALLY COOL THING (I assume you have to get there early to get your pick) are the character and special donuts! They had a Spiderman, minion, PokeBall, and rose when we were there. The people in front of us got all but the rose, but the rose donut (raised) was really beautiful, and the person who ate it devoured it before I got a chance to taste it :D We'll definitely be here again for our raised donuts! Sunshine in Nipomo has better cake donuts, and better buttermilk's (those DJ's buttermilk's had a nice crunch on the top), but the raised donuts holes here portend fantastic raised donuts! read more

I went to another donut shop first but they sold out so I went to DK's to get some St. Patrick's Day donuts. I got 4 St. Patrick's Day themed donuts and requested a half dozen donut holes (I do see they threw a couple more in?) and my total was $16.75. I knew from the board that half dozen donut holes are only 1.25 so deduct that and my 4 donuts came out to $15.50 and divide that by 4 so it's $3.875 each. I paid cash. There is no tax on food in California. Do you think I got gypped or overpaid, or do you think that is fair for a special donut like this nowadays? No receipt given or offered. It tasted fresh and delicious but it's more expensive than I had imagined. Oh well. It's a special day! Ask how much each donut costs before buying or you'll end up surprised like me. 1 star down for not offering a receipt as that would help customers feel better about what they paid. Was on vacation in the area and we were looking for a snack before heading out to see the Field of Light. We got a chocolate chip donut that is filled with more chocolate chips - love the concept. It tasted delicious and fresh even though it was late afternoon. We came back the next morning and saw cute decorated donuts and a great selection. Every time I'm home on the central coast, I try and grab some donuts from DK's. They're always fresh and deliciously soft and sweet. I came in the day before to pre-order a few dozen assorted donuts for a family gathering. I paid for them and then picked them up the following day right on time. Alright look, I don't like to do this, but this was a particularly bad experience. I go in for 3 donuts for myself (s'sad, don't judge) and when I attempt to pay with my card, the shopkeep sort of laughed like someone made a joke and said oh, we have a $10 minimum. My 3 donuts were only gonna cost $3.67. A $5 minimum I can understand, but a $10 minimum? It just seems unusual, but I suppose I could be way off base. Anyway, so now I gotta buy another DOZEN donuts. And who carries cash these days? Hardly anyone. The owner knows this and is exploiting people as a result. Now look, I know I'm a fatty, but this is extortion. So anyway, 15 donuts later, I'm thinking: I guess I can give these away to someone and hey, you know what, it's 2020 and I'm just happy to have some frickin donuts. So I go along my merry way and basically forget about the extortion and figure this guy is just a good businessman a-la Steve Jobs. I dig into some 'nut and they're some of the worst donuts I've ever had. Now I know I'm just some guy so who cares about what I think. But I'm telling you these were some very "gross" donuts. I didn't even know such a thing existed, a gross donut. The blueberry cake was soggy and undercooked...like, I wish I was making this up. The man sold me FIVE of them. No one should've had to pay for those. They shouldn't have been put out for sale. Avoid. read more

In Pismo Beach for the July 4th holiday so had the opportunity to try many different spots in this…read morebeautiful little beachside town. We noticed a long line forming about 6:00am and asked family about what we were seeing (they live across the street). Store opens at 6:30am each morning and lines form before opening and throughout the entire time they are open...we discovered the line moves quickly due to the way they have the shop set up. When you first enter, you see both "kitchens" where the rolls are formed and created. We happened to catch a time when a roll was being made and it was fascinating! Soft dough, rolled out to a huge rectangle, covered with so many pats of margarine, huge sprinkles of sugar and their cinnamon spice (they sell it in bottles). The dough is then rolled with the addition of more sugar and cinnamon and then cut into large rolls. Nine rolls per baking pan and set aside to rise and then to baking. They offer several kinds of rolls including both frosted and unfrosted cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls, walnut rolls, almond, and maple bacon. We had frosted ones and pecan and both were scrumptious and one of the best rolls we've had! They are best fresh and warm and they do offer some tables and chairs outside to sit and enjoy them! I think it was good we skipped the cream cheese frosting since it was super sweet. The roll itself already had sugar and cinnamon and was good. Also, got a hot chocolate. We didn't mind the wait (8 am to 9 am) since we plan to stay all day and night to see the fireworks.

Beachin' Biscuits had amazing reviews and I do love a good biscuit so I headed out to order some takeout. Super cute location with both indoor and outdoors seating. It was early, but there were a few customers already there eating their breakfast. The customer service was outstanding. The young man who took my order was really friendly and helped me decide what to order. I opted for the scrambled eggs that came with cheese on top the homemade house, potatoes, and an amazing biscuit. I also got the honey butter and the strawberry jam. My order came pretty quickly and off I went. Eggs - perfectly cooked and loved the addition of the cheese on top. Wasn't overpowering at all. Potatoes - I actually really loved these. They had a smoky flavor to them that was just delicious. Biscuit - this was one of the best biscuits I've ever had. It was light and buttery and just delicious. I could easily eat two or three of these myself. Thankfully, I only got one and shared it with Mom. The honey butter was delicious, but the star of the show was that strawberry jelly oh my goodness it's so good! 10 out of 10 I will be back!!

The "order line" was out the door and all tables (first come first serve) were occupied by customers, but not to worry...the tables "turn over" pretty quickly and again, I got lucky and seating wasn't a problem (but it could be). The associate who took our order was cheerful and all associates were seemingly very busy. Our order: from the "Gravy Lovers" section...GNARLY BISCUIT SANDWICH (5/5 - truly a magnificent dish...and a great introduction to this restaurant's "best"), from the "Breakfast Burritos and Tacos" section...SUNRISE TACOS (5/5 - very tasty) and THE PABLO (4/5 - flavorful and a great "hand-held" food), from the Lunch Menu "Sandwiches" section...THE TIDE POOL w/Spicy mayo (3/5 - this was the "lowest rated offering"...wasn't hot/warm when it was served - felt like it had been left "standing for awhile" before being served...needed more spicy mayo and the chicken seemed "dry".), from the "Homemade Biscuit" section...BOARDWALK BITES (3.5/5 - really good when hot...but after a few minutes were very "dry" ...I should have had these w/coffee). The "value factor" is high here my dear Yelp Review Readers ...everyone had leftovers to "take with" and mine last 3 additional meals! Also (FYI) there is only 1 bathroom...so be prepared to "wait" if the need should arise. Nevertheless, all in all...the vibe is energetic and fun, parking isn't the best or pleasant, the food is, by enlarge, really good (recommend ordering an offering in which a biscuit plays an integral part...it is after all "Beachin Biscuits") and the service (for our experience) was good. On this occasion...in this Yelper's opinion, Beachin Biscuits is in fact "worth the hype" and truly earned this "highly recommend" 4.5 Star "we'll be back soon" review.

For food, we tried their banana bread, strawberry oatmeal muffin, and the egg sausage cheese croissant. All of the food was warmed up and it was delicious! I would get everything again. Scorpion Bay has some leather chairs and a couch to sit at, a booth, and a few high top tables. There's also a table to sit at outside. The employees were all friendly and nice. We loved everything about our visit to Scorpion Bay and look forward to the next time we're in town so we can enjoy some delicious coffee and food!
